Sobrevivir a Picasso (1991) La película trata la relación de Picasso con sus amantes desde punto de vista de Françoise Gilot, la única mujer que abandona a Picasso. Como ya mucha gente sabe toda la verdad, Picasso como un humano era destructor de la persona cercana. Es diabólicamente seductor a alrededor. Muchas chicas quedan atraídas por Picasso, pero Picasso las ama de su manera propia “dominar” como quiera. Empieza la primera visita del taller de Picasso pot Gilot. Este momento ya mucha gente le avisa que no hay que acercarse demasiado al gran artista. Pero no escucha nada, porque piensa que ha conseguido el amor verdadero, pero se da cuenta de que queda como esclava de Picasso. La película es interesante, pero falta definitivamente la secuencia de la creación de Gilot. Gilot es artista, así que necesitaba describir como la relación con él le influye o afecta en su arte, aunque hay un poco, pero vale la pena verla una vez. I’ve just learnt that Françoise Gilot (1921-2023) has just passed away in NYC at the age of 101 years old.😢 She was a talented, creative woman whose path crossed that of #Picasso at one point. They had two children together and she was the only woman who actually left Picasso. He used to call her the woman who says no. 😂 Funny enough, she was the only one of his lovers/wives who got married and had more children. She also survived Picasso 50 years. In 2016 @malteherwig wrote a book called #thewomanwhosaysno I loved the way he retold some of their conversations which spanned several years and two continents. “Casa Howard” (1992) by James Ivory. Le vicende delle famiglie Wilcox e Schlegel si intrecciano inesorabilmente quando i due rispettivi capifamiglia decidono di sposarsi tra loro nonostante l’astio in corso. Eredità, segreti e amore, tutti nella magione dei Wilcox, casa Howard. Un altro film in cui Emma Thompson e Anthony Hopkins lavorano insieme e sono esplosivi (lei quell’anno ha persino vinto l’Oscar), nei ruoli di Margaret Schlegel e Henry Wilcox. “Casa Howard”, come “Maurice” e “Camera Con Vista” (sempre di Ivory), è tratto da un romanzo di Edward Morgan Forster, uno degli scrittori più abili del suo secolo a raccontare intrecci famigliari, segreti generazionali e amori impossibili. Tutto ciò naturalmente si sposa alla perfezione con il modo di girare e mettere in scena di Ivory, un regista che cura tantissimo l’aspetto visivo piuttosto che la sceneggiatura (molte battute sono prese direttamente dai libri). Rispetto agli altri due sopracitati “Casa Howard”, sebbene maestoso e bellissimo, è quello più lento secondo me. I personaggi sono la cosa più forte, soprattutto Margaret e Henry, molto complessi (lei sembra una doppiogiochista e non sapremo mai se sia la verità), e alcuni sono veramente insopportabili (Bast, Jackie e Helen, per esempio); James Wilby è un vincentissimo Charles Wilcox. Gli ambienti sono stupenti.
