Hats off to our 6th grade group of athletes now wrapping up Archery 101! For the third quarter in a row, Cathedral Middle School has had the opportunity to try their hand at the sport with great success, some of whom have gone on to compete in tournaments. Originally beginning with eight Kentucky schools in 2002, the National Archery in the Schools Program or NASP, has since been integrated into 47 of our 50 states, and grows by more than a thousand schools each year. This spring Cathedral School received $3,455 in NASP grants towards its archery program and applauds the hard work students and staff have put in to make the program a success! #nasp #superiorcathedralschool #youtharchery

Wow, that's a LOT of pop tabs! First Grade has been collecting pop tabs all year for a service project. Students have collected 8 paper boxes FULL of tabs! 😲 The pop tabs help the Ronald McDonald House of Superior and Duluth in their mission to support children and families during hospital stays. On Wednesday, Father Andrew dedicated the Science Classroom on third floor in memory of Barbara J. Milroy. Phil Milroy, a longtime supporter and friend of Cathedral School, spoke to the Middle School students. He said that when he was in school, Superior had 7 Catholic Grade Schools and 1 Catholic High School. Now, Cathedral School is the only Catholic School in our city. It is all of our responsibilities to make sure that our school continues to thrive and can be a place where morals, faith, and an excellent education are freely shared. 🐝🍃🌳 We are celebrating Earth Day all week long! Our Second Graders made Mason Bee hotels. We learned some fun facts about Mason Bees! 1. Mason bees are pollinators. 2. They do not make honey. 3. They are solitary bees which means they do not live in a hive. 4. They very rarely sting. 5. The queen puts mud, pollen and lays eggs inside of each tube. The hotels are easy and fun to make! We had very special guests from the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center this week! Veterans showed students the various flags that have been used in the United States, and shared the significance of how a flag is to be folded. It was a touching experience that brought a tear to more than one eye.
