🐾They’re here! 🐾 🐶The Dog Days of Summer! 🐶 Officially they started on July 3 and go through August 11. This time period is usually the HOTTEST and most unbearable days of the season. So why are they called “Dog Days?” Some say it’s because the hot, sultry days aren’t “fit for a dog.” Others used to believe that these hot days caused dogs to “go mad.” However the truth lies with the stars. The phrase is a reference to Sirius, the Dog Star. During the “Dog Days” period, the Sun occupies the same region of the sky as Sirius, the brightest star visible from any part of Earth.
