Hal David May 25, 1921 - September 1, 2012 Saluting American lyricist Hal David whose birthday just passed. As many know, Hal is best known for his collaborations with Burt Bacharach and a long time association with Dionne Warwick. Hal began working with Burt Bacharach in the Brill Building in NY in 1956. They wrote several songs togetherfor artists like Dionne Warwick, The Carpenters, Dusty Springfield, B. J. Thomas, Gene Pitney, Tom Jones, Jackie DeShannon and others. Some of those songs include now classics like "This Guy's in Love with You", "I'll Never Fall in Love Again", "Do You Know the Way to San Jose", "Walk On By", "What the World Needs Now Is Love", "I Say a Little Prayer", "(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me", "One Less Bell to Answer" and "Anyone Who Had a Heart". WHAT A NIGHT. Organising my first ever headline tour has been feeling like such a massive & stressful leap of faith. Each gig is a new opportunity to flop or let my support acts down with a lack of audience. I cannot afford a band yet either, so feel extra pressure to ensure the show I’m putting on is worthy of a headliner. this kid (me lol) benefitted so much from the arts and crafts projects we'd get to take part in from time to time as derbz hospital outpatients and students in the hospital classroom. I even got the chance to sell handmade jewellery at a craft fair there when I was 17. I also remember how the art exhibitions in the corridors and little gardens dotted about made the place seem less scary and foreboding. These pockets of creativity introduced fun back into my life, and gave me the confidence I needed to keep expressing myself and ultimately become emzae further down the line (can I get a woop woop!), so when I got offered a chance to take part in a live stream raising money for the Nottingham Hospitals Arts Programme I knew I had to accept.
