Sashiko e i miei vestiti parte 1 Oggi ti racconto di due vestiti, entrambi mi rappresentano molto: sono fatti interamente da me. In entrambi ho utilizzato la tecnica “Boro”, ovvero “ritagli di tessuto sovrapposti”. La tecnica Boro viene utilizzata quando vuoi riparare, salvare un capo e dargli nuova forza. Qui l’ho utilizzata come elemento decorativo per sottolineare lo scollo, le maniche oppure il fondo del vestito. In particolare nel vestito grigio con queste righe dorate, mi ha permesso di dare quel tocco di rosso che amo usare e di evidenziare il punto vita con una cintura. In pratica come un filo conduttore per tutto l’abito. Inoltre la realizzazione è stato un altro punto d’arrivo: sono riuscita a ricavarlo da un altro abito che possiedo. Ti dico subito che non è stato semplice, perché essendo un autodidatta, l’ho guardato attentamente e avevo molta paura di sbagliare. Dopo vari tentativi eccolo: impreziosito con questo motivo Boro in rosso. Il vestito jeans lo conosci già, ma non ho mai raccontato la sua storia travagliata. Avevo iniziato a crearlo prima del look down con l’aiuto di una sarta. È rimasto per più di due anni dentro un sacchetto. Il modo di lavorare di una sarta è molto diverso dal mio e ho abbandonato tutto. L’ho considerato un fallimento. Finché un giorno stufa di vederlo lì, ho preso il coraggio a 4 mani e l’ho finito da sola. È stato facile? No. Ho capito che se volevo trovare una soluzione dovevo farlo con le mie abilità. Quest’abito rappresenta una presa di coscienza: c’è la farò nonostante le tante difficoltà. Il ricamo, nella parte inferiore, ispirato al mondo giapponese è un altra conferma di quanto il mondo giapponese faccia parte di me. Ma...non mi sono fermata! Cosa ne pensi? Ho gli ultimi posti disponibili per il workshop del 25 maggio!!! Poi non dire che non te lo avevo detto!

This is one of my current personal projects that I started last year. When I finished it last summer I wore it and new holes appeared very quickly as the fabric is so thin, so now it’s back on my mending pile. I’m currently patching the top of one of the sleeves, and I’m just making it up as I go! Combining simple stitches in different ways to create different effects and patterns. . Patching of stretch jeans can easily result in reduced flexibility and make them too tight. A tip from @juiceboxworkshop is to sew on the patch while wearing them🪡. So I did and it worked fine but the morning after my thigh had a red outline of a square. Looking for a more PRACTICAL thing to do the job I found a flowerpot with sameish measures as that part of my leg 🪴. I’d recommend to draw eventual grids on the patch before stretching and sewing. I didn’t think of that the first time and used a measuring tape as ruler when drawing the bent lines 🖊️. The pattern is based on the sashiko #kakinohana , #persimmonflower . Starting with the small + I saw @reginancassidy had made, realised it could transition into larger flowers and when weaving in ends I liked the backside better and used that on the second patch 🔹. I’ve spent a couple of evening recently adding to these jeans. The back pocket was wearing through in another spot, so last night I finally got round to darning it! . I’m reinforcing the front of one of the legs, as holes have been starting to appear then. Initially I kept my stitching in reds and pinks, but my stash of those colours was running low and these jeans are now so multi coloured I didn’t feel like it was important to continue that. So I’ve managed to add some sashiko inspired stitching there. If I can keep going in evenings when I have time, I might be able to wear them again soon! I’m just doing what I can, when I can. . Un peu de relaxation, un peu de broderie ! 🧵✂️ Mais pas n'importe laquelle ! Le sashiko Broderie japonaise à la main, avec principalement des motifs géométriques inspirés de la nature. La plupart du temps réalisé sur tissu bleu avec du fil blanc, mais aujourd'hui on retrouve différentes couleurs de toiles et de fils. J'adore ce motif que l'on retrouve énormément en tissu ! Le motif Asanoha, feuille de chanvre, qui est associé à la vitalité et la prospérité. ⛩️ Vous ne vous en doutez sûrement pas, mais le tissu vert et le bleu, sont en faite le même tissu, mais dans un sens différent ! C'est un tissu pour furoshiki* qui a un motif différent de chaque côté pour que l'emballage soit beau des 2 côtés (notamment quand on fait un nœud, on voit souvent le dessous du tissu) (* méthode japonaise d'emballage cadeaux réutilisable) Ces broderies sont longues à faire, mais très faciles car il s'agit de points arrières, mais la beauté réside dans les répétitions des motifs, les formes et couleurs. I’ve tried three different ways to repair them and can now read about them on my blog-link in my bio. . I’ve just been adding to these jeans, and now the backside is even more colourful! As they need so much work, I’m not really trying to make it particularly neat anymore- I’m trying to find ways to make it fairly quick instead (or as quick as hand stitching can be!) while still being colourful. . Here you can see shibori samples attached to the body of the coat with some colourful running stitches. Inspired by sashiko obviously (yet I 'd never call it sashiko, so very much not there yet!) Kintsugi, een Japanse traditie om dingen die stuk zijn te maken met goud. Zo wordt iets mooier dan het was, juist omdat het stuk is. Ik probeer dat ook, het mooie in het kapotte te vinden. Praktisch is het niet altijd, ik vraag me ernstig af of die theepot nog waterdicht is. Mooi is nou eenmaal niet altijd praktisch, toch? 😉 Weer een op sashiko geïnspireerd werk. Preparation is everything! I love a process and a repetitive task, there is something very comforting about it. These are waxed, hand dyed silk threads ready to use on my quilt which I’m making with the expert guidance of @angelamaddock . I dyed these threads nearly seven years ago whilst travelling in Laos on a course with the lovely people at @ockpoptok It is so precious to me I have never felt able to use it.
