The race has raised over $120,000 for island based youth programs including the Martha's Vineyard Boys & Girls Club, The MV Youth Running Club and Rotary of Martha's Vineyard. Through the support of our volunteers, the community of Vineyard Haven, and of course our runners, this race continues to be a huge success and a great way to kick off the 4th! IMPORTANT NOTES: ➡️ Late in-person registrations will be taken at Murdick’s in Vineyard Haven THIS MORNING from 7:00-8.30. Cash or check only! ➡️ Due to construction at the Tisbury School, our traditional race headquarters, the course had to be adjusted this year. The event will start and finish on Clough Lane, just off Franklin Street, near Saint Augustine Church. The race distance is slightly more than 4 miles. ➡️ PARKING IS VERY LIMITED. You cannot park at the school this year. For today's race, for the first time in years, I ditched the watch. I've had some ups and downs in training lately & decided to just run by feel. Maybe it was bc I wasn't under pressure to perform, but my body responded way better than I'd expected. I took the win, snagged a PR & brought home the fudge for my kids, which is all that matters as far as they're concerned. On this day last year I was just getting ready to run. I went back and forth trying to decide if I was going to participate this year and while I do WANT to, I decided to just enjoy a leisurely run with my family and not overdo it. I'm weaning my placenta capsules and read that the reason for my pelvic girdle pain and wobbly ankles is due to the amount of relaxin hormones the capsules still maintain in my body. I only feel these things when I run and I didn't want to cause any injury since I've been feeling so great. Since this place never changes and we're creating awesome family traditions, I know there will be many more of these in my future.
