Congratulations to our Occupational Therapy interns, Jordain and Sera, from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, for completing their fieldwork at San Diego's Ronald McDonald House! Occupational Therapy services can support families by facilitating social, leisure, and bonding experiences that support an individual's self-care and mental health. During their time here, Jordain and Sera provided families with resources on grief support, stress relief, and emotional regulation. They said, "We enjoyed working closely with the families and guests of the House, learning more about their unique journeys, and coming up with creative approaches to address their needs. We are so appreciative of the opportunities we have had to leave a positive impact through the many interactions, conversations, and group sessions we conducted at the House. We're so grateful to have had the support of many Boy Scouts over the years. And today, on National Boy Scout Day, we'd like to recognize one of our favorite service projects created for our Ronald McDonald House. In 2022, Justin Lemay, selected San Diego's Ronald McDonald House as the recipient of his Eagle Scout Service Project. As a past RMHC-San Diego volunteer, Justin understood the challenges families face during their child's hospitalization. Justin constructed a "Happy Wheels Cart" for our Family Care Center. He raised over $500 to cover the cost of supplies and once completed, delivered the cart to our House. Today, Justin's "Happy Wheels Cart" continues to bring smiles to the faces of families as they discover the range of items gifted by our generous donors – books, games, toys, blankets, activity kits, and much more. Celebrating milestones! A month ago, our very own Jen Kamins, VP of Account Growth & Development for @beunbridled and founder of the @lovehardsd campaign with ACTS, joined the @rmhcsandiego’s Board of Trustees. Jen and her family were served by RMHC while their son, Cash, was in the NICU and they have remained closely connected since the passing of Cash. In the last three years, the reach of Cash’s story through Love Hard has expanded and the number of grieving families we serve has grown. Jen has dedicated every moment of her life to honoring Cash’s memory, all while also caring for her family and excelling in her career. Her formal position on the board of RMHC of San Diego is not only an honor, well-deserved, but a beautiful full-circle moment of her and Cash’s story.
