besides being an adorably instagramable city (which y’all know my Asian ass loves 😜), Arequipa was just amazing. The biggest cost of digital nomading/traveling is that it’s hard to have the comforts at home. Hostel to hostel, befriending new friends at each destination, and having to research an itinerary - it gets tiring. So, when I’m lucky enough to have a local friend, who not only graciously shows me around , but houses me, and spends time with me, well it is truly a gift. There was also a demonstration happening in the street nearby, protestors challenging government involvement/support of Ukraine. If you've been following my page, you'll already know that I've been struggling with the notion of not being able to draw... I even went to art school with the hopes that I'd learn some skills... And I did, in some areas, but not really in the area of drawing. And, tbh, I don't really like to draw that much... Something about it isn't as satisfying as making a print or working with ink/watercolour... So... Instead of drawing...maybe making images with a more interesting medium is key to improving... Maybe just doing it, no matter how "good or bad" is really all that matters. While I was painting this weird being, I was surrounded by three VERY loud children, who were struggling on their 7hr train ride... And everyone knew it. Every now and again, they'd stop to see what I was doing... I almost offered them an attempt at painting, but I only packed limited resources and didn't know how the parents would feel about a stranger engaging with their children. As unruly as they were, they were still drawn to the art, to the action of the making, and curious about the result. As a lovely humyn in my circle often says, "Is it perfect? No." But did we make it? Yes. And what's better than painting a weird little bean, on a train to Berlin, amongst curious wee chaos beans?

Just your favorite gay in #Uruguay ✌🏽😜🇺🇾 ; at some point between BA and Iguazu Falls, I took a quick 3 day trip and ferried to Montevideo and then headed to #Colonia to meet up with my bud Joni (who I had met in 🇨🇱 a few weeks previous) one of my favorite things about solo traveling is the friends you make along the way and then meeting up again to explore new places together . El chalten 🇦🇷 photodump continues, this time featuring Reserva huemules, lake azul y lake verde 🏔️ This was one of the few places in el chalten that we actually had to pay admission for, but it was well worth it! Managed to go on the very last day of season so the park was pretty much empty. Was breathtaking how serene the glacier and lake at the end was without any other humans! As lovers of hatch green chiles, we had to stop in Hatch, NM as we make summer moves. Sparky’s famous green chile burgers and green chili queso were delicious and they had lots of fun statues to take in. We also enjoyed our first draft beer at a brewery in months and got lucky with a live band including two banjos, a mandolin, and a stand up bass, which transported us back to TN for an hour. We left the next day one comal and a 5lb bag of fresh, local green chiles richer. Section 2 of the W trek of the Patagonia: valle del Frances in autumn 🍂🏔️ after much research and consideration of the season, I decided not to trek and camp the entire W. Instead, I “hacked” it by doing the key sections of it over 3 days, staying one night in the lodge (refugio). Day 1 completed the mirador (on earth day!). Valle Del Frances was day 2. Since we took the ferry in that day, we were a bit in a time crunch. We just barely managed to hustle back to the lodge before dark - while it drizzled!
