A Fine Art Portrait from my last workshop at @fotodotno , Oslo with the beautiful @nicolinesolberg from @teammodels . Before we continue..it might be great to save this post for inspiration. . So The image starts coming together before I pack my bags. Laying it out on the floor of the studio to get a feel for the colors and what props to bring. This look was supposed to be a bit sophisticated with a bit of drama. The grey backdrop was starting point because it fits in my suitcase ;) and then we added the gorgeous black dress. To this I have a tulle collar that I actually use for a headpiece. The Violin (even though it’s broken) , is always a beautiful compliment and I thought the brown flowers would accentuate great with the color of the violin. . We used Butterfly lighting with a 4” octa soft box from Profoto and Profoto B10x. , and with that I choose (as I often do) to use the edge light for a softer look. . Shot with my beloved Canon R5 and my RF 24-105mm F4 IS USM lens 1/160 sec at f /,1 ISO 125, at 50 mm . Dress: @khfashion . In the photo world, most know me as a wedding or portrait photographer. Yep, I am, but in reality, I’m a just a photographer. I spent 17 years as a photojournalist early in my career and then segued into the commercial world with weddings as my main focus. I’ve loved the diversity of my client list, and the assortment of assignments I’ve been commissioned for. In today’s photography world, I’m fortunate to have this versatility in my camera bag, and I’m always photographing different genres. The law firm of Lackey and Miller hired me to create content for their website. These guys are unique attorneys in NJ who have a wealth of experience working as prosecutors. These gentleman joined forces as defense attorneys, using their knowledge of the other side’s practices, tactics, and strategies to help defend their clients. I hope I never need these guys, but if I do, I’d hire them. We spent time over 3 days creating video and stills to transform their site. They’re good guys, and I hope it works well for them! Photographically, the challenge was to balance the exposure of the subjects with the Philly skyline. It was close to noon, so this was a job for the power of my Profoto B1 and high speed sync. I had to set the light to full power in order to get to f/8 since the city skyline was crucial to the frame. I compressed the city behind the subjects with my NIKKOR 70-200 f/2.8S. A wide angle lens simply wouldn’t cut it for what I wanted to accomplish. Also, when composing this scene, I needed to allow for type at the top of the frame which is why the subjects were placed in the lower third. "Face is intact. Looking forward to the photo shoot on Monday!" - text from Sarah after her first-ever boxing match. This former Amazon executive-turned educator and consultant, who's also the mother of one of Roxy's friends and a general all-around amazing human, decided she could fit yet another challenge into her life. She already loved boxing, so she decided to up the ante and enter an amateur boxing tournament, @botbchs , that raised money for charity. She trained HARD at @ethos_ac and brought her body up to the most fit it's ever been. Competing scared her, but she embraced @glennondoyle 's mantra "we can do hard things" and went for it. She lost the match, but raised a ton of money for her charities and showed her 7-year-old daughter what's possible when we push through fear to do something new that scares us.
