A partir del otoño de 2022, como parte de su campaña de divulgación de la vacuna contra la gripe y el COVID-19 en comunidades hispanas de bajos ingresos, PASOs comenzó a colaborar con Prisma Health y Foodshare de Carolina del Sur para combinar la educación sobre vacunas con la donación de alimentos. En cada uno de los eventos bimensuales de divulgación sobre vacunas de PASO, las familias que asistieron recibieron educación culturalmente apropiada y cajas de alimentos, kits de pruebas de COVID-19, y derivaciones para vacunas contra la gripe y el COVID-19. Durante los primeros 6 meses de esta campaña, PASOs apoyó a 300 familias, lo que resultó en más de 150 personas que recibieran una o ambas vacunas. Starting in the fall of 2022, as part of its flu and COVID-19 vaccine outreach in low-income Hispanic communities, PASOs began collaborating with PRISMA Health and Foodshare of South Carolina to combine vaccine education with food give-away. At each of PASOs’ bi-monthly vaccine outreach events, families attending received culturally appropriate education and adapted food boxes, as well as COVID-19 testing kits and referrals for flu and COVID-19 vaccinations. During the first 6 months of this campaign, PASOs supported 300 families, resulting in more than 150 individuals receiving one or both vaccines. It's time for another #TherapeuticThursday !! Have you ever seen two cuter faces in one photo?! No?! Us either! This sweet furrriend gave his family the scare of a lifetime... There were many moments when they were preparing themselves for the unimaginable. Duke and his mahm, a Certified Child Life Specialist in the PICU, spent many hours loving on and supporting his parents through the toughest days of their lives. After several hard weeks of fighting for his life, he made it over the hump and showed everyone the true miracle that he is! Following the removal of his breathing tube, Duke finally got to visit the main man himself. This was one of the first times in a long while that his mother and the PICU staff were able to see his personality shine!! He lit up when Duke walked in the room and clapped and giggled when he flopped on the bed with him. We all laughed at the silliness they both brought to the visit while crying tears of joy, and no one wanted it to end! Talk about a WIN! It's moments like these that remind us of the importance of why we do what we do as a Facility Dog team and the incredible asset that dogs can be in the healthcare setting! Unfortunately setbacks happen… Sunday morning I had a seizure, fell and hit my head on the bathroom tile floor. Off to ER, CT and later MRI showing bleeding in tumors. Another seizure in ER, transferred to Nurology floor Sunday. 2 seizures Monday with severe headaches (think the main cause was the hit on the floor, but some due to bleeding), 2 Tuesday with same headaches and one again last night. They are quite scary and makes it feel like I can’t breathe. The have added on two more seizure meds meds and have been upped a few times. Middle of the night I went for a new MRI and the today I went over to radiation for a new mask fitting. The spots that were previously radiated are bleeding some that hopefully is a good sign they are dying. One spot previously seen that was thought to be a blood vessel seems to be the real problem and cause of the seizures. This and 2 small new spots (mm size) will be radiated tomorrow.
