A true story about a painting, an exhibition (and possibly some crazy artist).. All the painting photos and details were up on Frames gallery website, and Tuesday delivery came whizzing round. In a sea of bubble wrap, I rounded up pictures both from home and the studio and then delivered them to the gallery. I realised that this wee one was missing. That evening, I looked upstairs -nope. At 4.50 a.m., I searched again. At a more reasonable time, I emailed Hugh saying that there was a strong possibility that I had given it to a friend.. Could you be taken off the website? At the same time the same I messaged the friend asking if this was the picture I had given her for her birthday? Nope. By this time, I was totally stressed out and headed to the studio and searched the box of wee paintings and various other logical but unsuccessful places. I couldn’t settle, I paced up and down moving stuff and swearing. Eventually, I moved the large drawing, a frame, and the ladder to reveal a wee bubble wrapped framed picture.. I unwrapped it and actually laughed out loud. "Possibly Somewhere IV" was found! So now “Possibly Somewhere IV” hangs proudly on the wall with the rest for the exhibition opening - 18th May 12 - 2pm, and I have to say looks fab. So a huge thank you to Hugh, Nicola, Jenny, Cassandra, and Mike for all their hard work. (There are lots of lessons to be learned here.. Cataloguing, tracking and storing pictures and trusting myself, and getting enough sleep!) Any suggestions? We're excited to introduce the next singer in this year's performance of The Magic Flute by @scotsopera - Douglas Nairne as Papageno✨ Douglas won a scholarship to study at the Guildhall School of Music where he gained an advanced Masters with distinction before completing a Masters in Opera at the Sir Alexander Gibson Opera School. Operatic roles include Marcello (La bohème) at Haddo House Opera and Edinburgh Grand Opera, Silvio (Pagliacci) with Lakeland Opera, Zurga (The Pearl Fishers), the title role in Eugene Onegin, with Opera Bohemia, and Herald (Burning Fiery Furnace) which he performed at the Aldeburgh Festival and at the Hermitage in St Petersburg with Mahogany Opera. With just over 2 weeks until The Magic Flute opens with @scotsopera it's time to meet the cast which features the stars of Scotland's operatic scene 🎶 Performing the role of Tamino, and the pioneer behind the Scots Opera Project - Tenor, @daviddouglastenor David hails from Ayrshire. He trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and the Royal Northern College of Music. David has performed with Les Arts Florissants, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, English National Opera, Scottish Opera, The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, The Dunedin Consort, Birmingham Opera Company, Carl Rosa and Opera North. David enjoys taking a lead role in community music and outreach projects, pioneering The Scots Opera Project, who perform operas in Scots and Gaelic. Through which, he has performed the title roles in Charpentier’s Acteon and The Descent O’ Orpheus Tae the Underwarl, showcasing these on BBC Radio Scotland’s Classics Unwrapped and STV’s The Riverside Show.
