Makrut lime is fast becoming one of our favourite ingredients. We first used it in Synonym back in 2021, and now it's lending the creamy cereal milk note to the end of Loop-de-Loop. We still have quite a lot of makrut limes in the freezer and the aroma is so intoxicating. No doubt we'll find a use for them soon, but I kind of want to keep one frozen just so I can enjoy the fragrance a little longer. Would that we could open a parfumerie as well. Can I be totally honest? Soaking and removing labels so we can reclaim bottles is a crap job. It's not meditative or mindful, it's boring and repetitive. In the hierarchy of annoying jobs we've done because it's good for the environment, it's better than peeling the steel off of scrap cool room panel* but that's not saying much. Still. Important things are not always enjoyable, and small steps lead to big ones. The first reclaimed Optimus Lime bottles will be available soon. I tend to think that if more people worked in manufacturing, we'd have more of a concept that making stuff is *hard*. Dealing with waste is *hard*. And instead of throwing things away (because someone far away deals with it) and buying new stuff (that someone far away makes) we should do a better job of caring for the stuff we have.
