*Vulnerability Post* There are times I really, REALLY miss living that slow life, on a beautiful island, next to the man I loved. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and just speak to the person I once was… But then I snap back… And I remember… The things I don’t miss… - Feeling lost - Feeling uncertain - Feeling insecure - Feeling sad - Feeling like I can’t please anyone - Feeling unprotected - Feeling… defeated And don’t get me wrong, I still have my moments! But it wasn’t until I was so far from feeling even slightly like myself that I knew something radical needed to change. If I think back to that time, I was giving every bit of my energy to people, jobs, places that just weren’t reciprocating. I was completely depleted. I really learned the meaning of burnout… how the root of it stems from lack of boundaries, and not just from your career, but also, relationships, family, and your environment… My life is different from that slow island life I used to live… but I’m really grateful for it too. It feels aligned, directed… personal. And while all things have a bit of uncertainty to it, I’ve learned to embrace it and let the present moment thrive. Ah to say I’ve come a long way would be an understatement. Over the years I can sincerely say I’ve fallen madly in love with my own self discovery process that led me to this very moment of writing this caption. Two years ago today, my dream trip to Scotland ended in absolute panic. I was heading home from seeing one of my favorite artists from a concert in Glasgow, when I fell and shattered the bones in my ankle. I didn’t realize it at the time, but this injury would become a major catalyst in how I would choose to live my life. It was this very injury that led me on my Coaching Journey and a pivot from so much of what I thought I knew. This experience showcased my own strength and perseverance when I was faced with one of the scariest moments of my life. Left by myself to travel back home across the Atlantic without the ability to walk, I was made to face emotions and past experiences I had buried within myself that I wasn’t really ready to work through, or so I thought I wasn’t ready. Why didn’t I have support? Why did I want to go on this trip so badly? Little did I know at the time, but the Universe was calling me to face those questions, and dive deep into a healing journey where my physical injuries were literally only just the surface of what I would uncover. Deep trauma from relationships, family, and my own limiting beliefs caused me to ignore what my body had been trying to tell me for so long: slow down and LISTEN. For the following six months, I healed in my tiny apartment, gathering strength to get to physical therapy everyday and not lose my mind. I journaled religiously, virtually joined meditation circles, and began exploring the Art of Life Coaching. Through my passion for Astrology and the embedded knowledge I already felt deeply called to, the idea of In Astris was born. While those many months were an extremely painful period of my life, with my Grandmother passing just six months after my incident, I still feel deeply grateful for the time I had to really sit with myself in solitude. I call it my Personal Revolution. Now, I believe it is my turn to share all that I’ve gained, and I truly hope In Astris becomes a part of your life, the way that it has mine.
