Connection is the word that best describes Pregnancy and Postpartum Circles. We tend to live in a world where we lack connection with others. We all know when we feel connected, we feel better and our mental and physical health improves. Studies show that feelings of loneliness increase during pregnancy and early motherhood. And this feeling is even higher if you are experiencing difficulties during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum, feeling anxious and judged by others for not living up to the cultural narrative of the ideal mother. Before starting the circles, we knew intuitively the importance of building connection. The many benefits for mothers and therefore for their babies, from our own experience, from what we had seen many times with the mothers around us. In the circles there is no judgement, there is a lot of understanding and support. There is honesty, listening, reassurance and lots of laughter. It is about bringing together women sometimes from very different backgrounds, and being able to recognise ourselves in each other. There is nothing spiritual about this, just the joy of people bringing the best intentions and accompanying each other on this beautiful journey of becoming a mother. And yes, maybe that is magic, the good kind of magic. Melted Easter Egg Gloop anyone?... 🥚 This was a big hit at last weeks Easter session - Gloop is always a firm favourite at class 😍 If you've not experienced the joy of gloop (aka oobleck) you've gotta try it - a very simple one to make at home, just mixing water and cornflour together until you get the consistency you desire (more cornflour to make it thicker) then add some food colouring to give it colour - to make this chocolatey I added cocoa powder! (All dairy free!) Gloop is a non-Newtonian liquid, meaning it acts as both liquid and solid and is a great one for a variety of ages!..
