USS Abraham Lincoln in Yokosuka. 空母「エイブラハム・リンカーン」の船首。 ズームしてみました。 船上に所狭しと駐機している戦闘機。 駐機なんて言葉、初めて使いました。 というか空母の上に停まっている状態をなんと言うか調べました。 知らないことばかりでそれもおもしろいです。 右上の大きなクレーンは横須賀港側に立っていたようで、おそらく物資の積み下ろしなどの作業のためのものだと思います。 このクレーンがまためちゃくちゃデカい。 予約してから何ヶ月も待ってようやく手に入ったタムロンのズームレンズ。 手に入れてからはずっとこのレンズで撮っています。 かなり離れていても寄ることができるので、このいっぱいの戦闘機が見えたときはまた、うおー、と言っていました。 まさにトップガンのよう。 戦闘機。 何のために使用されるかと言うことを考えてしまうと、いろいろと思ってしまいます。 ただまあ正直な感想を言ってしまうと、なんとも美しい形だなあと思ってしまいます。 こちらの空母もまた長い航海を経て横須賀に来たのだろうなということがよく感じられる船体です。 そしてよく見ると、錨の右下の組まれた足場に作業をしている数名の人たちがいます。 クルーズ中にはまったく気づきませんでした。 こういうあとから新しい発見があるのも写真のおもしろいところです。 #fighter #戦闘機 #ussabrahamlincoln #cvn72 #エイブラハムリンカーン #空母エイブラハムリンカーン #aircraftcarrier #航空母艦 #空母 #nuclearpoweredaircraftcarrier #原子力空母 #military #battleship #militaryport #base #軍港 #戦艦 #基地 #yokosukamilitaryport #yokosukamilitaryporttour #cruiseofyokosukanavalport #よこすか軍港めぐり #yokosuka軍港めぐり #yokosuka #yokosuka #kanagawa #japan #横須賀市 #神奈川県 #日本

USS Long Beach (CGN 9) with USS Ranger (CV 61) - May 1987 USS Long Beach (CLGN-160/CGN-160/CGN-9) was a nuclear-powered guided missile cruiser in the United States Navy and the world's first nuclear-powered surface combatant. She was the third Navy ship named after the city of Long Beach, California. She was the sole member of the Long Beach-class, and the last cruiser built for the United States Navy to a cruiser design; all subsequent cruiser classes were built on scaled-up destroyer hulls (and originally classified as destroyer leaders) or, in the case of the Albany-class, converted from already existing cruisers. Long Beach was laid down 2 December 1957, launched 14 July 1959 and commissioned 9 September 1961 under the command of then-Captain Eugene Parks Wilkinson, who previously served as the first commanding officer of the world's first nuclear-powered vessel, the submarine USS Nautilus (SSN-57). She deployed to Vietnam during the Vietnam War and served numerous times in the Western Pacific, Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf. By the 1990s, nuclear power was deemed too expensive to use on surface ships smaller than an aircraft carrier in view of defense budget cutbacks after the end of the Cold War. Long Beach was decommissioned on 1 May 1995 instead of receiving her third nuclear refueling and proposed upgrade. After removal of the nuclear fuel, superstructure, and sections of the bow and stern, the hull segment containing the reactor and machinery spaces was moored at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and sold for scrapping. Operation Sea Orbit was the 1964 around-the-world cruise of the United States Navy's Task Force One, consisting of USS Enterprise (CVAN-65), USS Long Beach (CGN-9), and USS Bainbridge (DLGN-25). This all-nuclear-powered unit steamed 30,565 miles unrefuelled around the world for sixty-five days. Operation Sea Orbit was the idea of Vice Admiral John S. McCain, Jr., who saw the exercise – which demonstrated how nuclear-powered ships could operate unfettered by shore logistical ties – as a statement of American technical achievement similar to that of the coal-burning Great White Fleet in 1907-1909. Long Beach and Bainbridge departed Norfolk on 28 April 1964, in company with the aircraft carrier Franklin D. Roosevelt for the Atlantic crossing to the Mediterranean, where the rendezvous with Enterprise was scheduled. "Brave as the Sun") is a modified Kiev-class aircraft carrier and the flagship of the Indian Navy, which entered into service in 2013. Originally built as Baku and commissioned in 1987, the carrier served with the Soviet Navy and later with the Russian Navy (as Admiral Gorshkov) before being decommissioned in 1996. The carrier was purchased by India on 20 January 2004 after years of negotiations at a final price of $2.35 billion. The ship successfully completed her sea trials in July 2013 and aviation trials in September 2013. She was commissioned on 16 November 2013 at a ceremony held at Severodvinsk, Russia. Admiral Flota Sovetskogo Soyuza Kuznetsov(Russian: Адмира́л фло́та Сове́тского Сою́за Кузнецо́в "Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov", originally the name of the fifth Kirov-class battlecruiser) is an aircraft carrier (heavy aircraft cruiser in Russian classification) serving as the flagshipof the Russian Navy. She was built by the Black Sea Shipyard, the sole manufacturer of Soviet aircraft carriers, in Nikolayev within the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (SSR). The initial name of the ship was Riga; it was launched as Leonid Brezhnev, embarked on sea trials as Tbilisi, and finally named Admiral Flota Sovetskogo Soyuza Kuznetsov after Admiral of the fleet of the Soviet UnionNikolay Gerasimovich Kuznetsov. She was originally commissioned in the Soviet Navy, and was intended to be the lead ship of the two-ship Admiral Kuznetsov class. However, her sister ship Varyag was still incomplete when the Soviet Union disbanded in 1991. The second hull was eventually sold by Ukraine to China, completed in Dalianand commissioned as Liaoning. As of November 2020, the Admiral Kuznetsov is out of service for a refit. In November 2018, it suffered a collision with a 70 ton crane of PD-50 floating dry dock and a fire that killed two during the refit. The dock sank after a power outage while holding the Admiral Kuznetsov. The dock was vital to repairing the Admiral Kuznetsov. It is currently not expected to re-enter service until 2022 at the earliest. USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) is the United States Navy's third Nimitz-class supercarrier. She is named for Carl Vinson, a Congressman from Georgia, in recognition of his contributions to the U.S. Navy. The ship was launched in 1980, undertook her maiden voyage in 1983, and underwent refueling and overhaul between 2005 and 2009. Besides deployments in Operation Desert Strike, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Southern Watch, and Operation Enduring Freedom, Carl Vinson was involved in a number of notable events. The ship is named after the 38th President of the United States, Gerald Ford, whose World War II naval service included combat duty aboard the light aircraft carrier Monterey in the Pacific Theater.
