Saturday morning workout! When people say age is just a number I have a hard time not arguing back. That actually isn’t true, many age related changes take place in the body. Experiencing a number of those myself, I know these changes are a reality that we have to deal with, so what do we do? We work smarter and harder, but we don’t stop working! Studies have found that one of the key factors in persons who are”super agers” is degree of muscle mass. Maintaining muscle mass as we age is a challenge, but not an impossibility. The Blue Zones, which are known for having higher numbers of centenarians, are known for the active lifestyles of their citizens. Sedentary lifestyles do not equal longevity! Let’s keep moving in whatever ways feel best to us! Pilates is my go to because it keeps me strong, stretched, mobilized, and requires an intense mind-body connection.
