WEDDING STYLING Our overall theme for the day was vintage garden party. With long barn tables from @sashevents, mismatched chairs from @mintymarypeaevents, linen from @organiceventssupplyco and vintage brass vases, mirrors and flowers by us. It needed to be simple, as there was only so much time to get everything ready and do all the flowers the day before, so brass vases were the perfect option. Simple, but stunning. Massive thank you to our family and friends who helped set up on the day, and especially to Kelly for spending an entire day helping create the mirror signs! Tuesday dahlias with a difference. These ones are all staying on the plants until Thursday when I pick them ready for bouquet making on Friday. It’s crazy the difference in weather can make from one week to the next! It’s that time of year again! Now that the weather has started to cool, it’s time to start preparing for Spring blooms. As there’s no time for seed starting between now and our wedding, I’ve planted out a bed with seedling punnets (including lots of poppies which I’ve never had much success germinating anyway). I’ve also soaked and potted up the first round of ranunculus corms, ready to plant out when they start sprouting. Last year’s nigella and queen Anne’s lace have self seeded and even a few anemones have started showing. Pic is of my absolute favourite spring bouquet from last year. Monday evening, shades of green in the front garden. There’s not much colour here at the moment. The chrysanthemums are putting on lots of growth, ready to bloom for Mother’s Day, the asters are budding up for Easter and the late dahlias are still growing with fingers crossed they’ll bloom at least once before it turns cold.
