I love cloudy days at Diana's Pool in eastern CT. There are some little waterfalls that wind up stream among the big boulders that I find very peaceful. Had to be careful finding a vantage point to shoot from - the rocks were slippery due to the rain we have been enjoying here in Eastern CT, thanks to the remnants of the hurricane. Enjoy your day! The woods were filled with Mountains Laurels that morning in the Blue Ridge MTs near Asheville, NC. This was over a month ago, but forgot about posting this. I have not seen anything like this in years. I was quite busy last week forgot about this until I uploading to my computer today - The color of the sunset in CT was absolutely stunning. Winter is a moody time and very beautiful as well here in CT. I am so happy that I can simply walk across the street from my home and be in a quiet field and hillside that is so beautiful. I am always amazed in the variety of colors of autumn leaves. The backside of this maple leaf is so blue. I am practicing and seeing what my new camera and lenses can do.. My upgrade to the NikonZ7ii has been fun, yet challenging with many new bells and whistles to get used to. Playing with B&W in this image from Valles Caldera, NM. When there is so much wide open space, which I am not used to here in CT, I found that composing a landscape image is a different challenge. I just loved the textures in the grasses and the cool little cabin. I hated cutting off the tops of the trees, but I wanted the viewers eye to go up through the image to the cabin, hills and clouds. I think going b&w is less distracting to the eye since much is going on in this image.. Valles Caldera, NM. Have you ever hiked at a dormant volcano? Super cool place in New Mexico, not far from Bandelier National Monument. This image shows the crater of the Valles Caldera - we hiked up into the wooded mountains around the caldera which are filled with Elk. We could heard them calling but didn't see any. Spent some time in New Mexico over the last week and loved every minute of it! Earlier in September, My Nikon 4Ds, that I have been using for years and years, finally wore out and I jumped at the idea of renting the Nikon mirrorless camera for my trip - well guess what? I bought it as soon as I returned! It is so much lighter and easy to carry. Here is an image from Bandelier National Park! What an amazing place - this is a look at the cliff dwellings in Frijoles Canyon from the trail - we got closer and actually climbed up into some of the dwellings. Early spring flowers are like little gems in the forest. This is a trillium flower. I found it on a walk in the woods on a cloudy day recently. I love the textures of its leaves and petals. So, some cool folks in Rhode Island who moved there from Holland have created a farm called, "Wicked Tulips". Plus they've also opened a new tulip farm in Preston, CT! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So, I bought a box of bulbs last year, planted them around my yard- AND- this week their leaves are poking up out of the ground! I'll make photos when they bloom if I can keep the deer away from them! No April fooling from me today! These beauties aren't from my garden, they're from the Elizabeth Park Greenhouse in Hartford, where the aroma from the tulips were intoxicating.
