Today's #kickbike #ride was 20km which was not as long as I would usually try to do on a Sunday. Mostly this is because it was #cold , as the Bureau of Meteorology screenshots on this post shows. It was -0.9°C at the start of the ride and still only 4.5°C at the end. It was still an enjoyable ride, but when I have 3 layers of clothes on to combat the cold the sweat produced on a longer ride due the extra layers can get pretty gross. I figured it would be better to do a ride early so that I could then spend the rest of the day inside rather than wait for it to possibly warm up enough to go for a longer ride. Starting at Wonga Wetlands, I followed shared paths for most of the way to Wodonga, and included the disused #railway #bridge across the Murray River between Albury and Wodonga. From Wodonga the ride was on roads parallel to the Hume Freeway. The ride ended at a Roadhouse in West Wodonga that has a Pie Face food outlet. Eindelijk geen pijn meer tijdens het steppen dankzij de barefoot pasvorm van mijn nieuwe sportschoenen van @barefootandmore. Al mijn andere schoenen zijn al van deze winkel. Ik droeg bij het steppen altijd nog de oude atletiekschoenen van mijn zoon Sjoerd, maat 38,5, waarin mijn tenen helemaal werden samengeknepen met pijn aan de hallux valgus tot gevolg. Hij heeft nu maat 44. Kun je nagaan hoe oud die schoenen wel niet waren. Hij had maat 38 toen hij 10 was, geen idee eigenlijk 🤷♀️. Today's 33km #kickbike #ride was to Police Paddocks camping ground next to the Murray River and back, plus some trails and streets in Rutherglen. Apart from the obvious #exercise value of the ride this ride was also a test of an installation of a second water bottle holder on the forks of the #bike . Apart from the water bottle jumping out of the holder on the forks once on a rough patch of road, there were no problems with it. That means I can now ride approximately 40km without having to worry about having enough water. Today's 28km #kickbike #ride was to Shaw's Flat, a camping area next to the Murray River north of Rutherglen. It was mostly on dirt or gravel roads, with a few asphalt roads near town. Today's #kickbike #ride was in the reverse direction to yesterday's, but was longer and had a much higher proportion of gravel & dirt roads. About 8kms of today's ride was on asphalt and concrete roads and trails, the rest was gravel or dirt roads. Today's and yesterday's rides total 83km, making 135km ridden for this week (so far). Most of today's ride was pretty flat, but there are hills starting about 5kms from Rutherglen from the south which meant more energy expenditure near the end of the ride when my muscles had already accumulated over 35km of fatigue. Unless I made a massive detour to approach Rutherglen from the north (which would mean less hill climbs, but adds maybe 10km to the ride length), I couldn't escape those hill climbs. Today's & yesterday's rides prove the Kickbike accommodated touring setup I devised works. Stats from Garmin app: AVG heart rate: 127bpm. Max Heart Rate: 151bpm. Today's 39km #kickbike #ride was part of a 2 day ride to test my multi-day Kickbike touring set up where I stay in accommodation (eg cabin, hotel or motel). All that I needed to carry would have to fit in the day pack and bumbag as I wanted to try this without the front pannier. I've ridden this route on the Kickbike and other bicycles a number of times, but this was the first time I rode it as part of a multi-day Kickbike tour. The ride today was problem free, and I even surprised myself regarding how well I did considering I had a very active 3.5 hour work shift before I even started the ride. Approximately 20.5km was on gravel roads of varying quality, the rest of the ride was on asphalt or concrete roads and trails. Stats from #garmin : AVG Heart Rate: 132bpm. Max Heart Rate: 161bpm. Today's ride seemed easier than Friday's, and I did the 21km in about 10 minutes more than it would have taken without all the touring gear. Some blisters have developed on the top of my small toes, probably because of the new shoes. Today's #kickbike #ride was from and to the caravan park where I'm staying for the weekend at Chiltern, exploring the national park and surrounds. A number of the places I visited were described as having good bird life. Only one of them, the Chiltern Valley Number 2 Dam, had lots of birds, and most of them appeared to be pelicans when I visited them! I also tried to find Donchi Hill Lookout, but must have ridden past it without realising. On Donchi Hill Road I did find a number of pretty awesome #spiders webs, one of them and the spider that engineered it are included in these photos. It has everything I need for a weekend: tent, sleeping gear, mattress, pillow, spare clothes, some food and water, bicycle repair stuff, etc. I'm pretty pleased with how it worked. There were no problems experienced with the setup. My legs are a bit tired even after just 23km, but part of the reason for that is that I did a work shift before the ride that involved a lot of walking, climbing stairs and squatting. It was also the first day with my new #kickbiking shoes: $25 Kmart hiking boot style shoes. Riding a #kickbike means not having to worry about mechanical drive train failures, as they don't have gears, cogs, or pedals. About the only thing that needs attention from time to time is the brakes (which a traditional bike would also need). This means a Kickbike is ultra reliable, way more than a traditional #bicycle . BUT, #shoes seem to wear out a lot quicker due to the kicking motion used to propel the bike. This is a photo of one of the current pair of shoes I use exclusively for #kickbiking . I purchased these shoes on March 20, 2023. A few months ago, the rip shown started to form so I applied copious amounts of Qwik Grip glue to fix the problem. After that they worked ok for a while but the rip started to form again and now it's not fixable. I think it's time for a new pair of Kickbike shoes! #footbike #footbiking

Today's 40km #kickbike #ride started about an hour before #sunrise to escape the heat. It was on mostly gravel and secondary asphalt roads in the #countryside with some extra streets in Rutherglen to bring the ride to 40km. A very pleasant way to spend few hours. NK ADVENTURE RACING 2024 🇳🇱 Blue Bear Adventure Race Berlicum RENNEN - FIETSEN - STEPPEN – PUZZELEN – ORIËNTEREN en een stukje KANOËN (maar ook schieten, slepen, tillen, smijten, mikken, puzzelen enz.) Zonder... Sans ... (ahum), werd ik als (eenmalige) solist uitgedaagd om 10 uur lang naar zoveel mogelijk punten te speuren, verstopt in de prachtige natuur van ´Balkum´ en de verre omstreken. Ik kwam als snel in contact met hulst (bloedend oog) en ook bleek kanoën (solo) onhaalbaar (wel hulp gehad van vrijwilliger Rick voor 1 verplichte CP 🙏), de Trelleborg Tyreflip van 237 kg lukte ook net niet, maar voor de rest ging alles prima, zij het in een ander ritme. De reusachtige uitdagingen die Moeder Natuur ons bood (remember CP 18) en de vele handelingen die anders verdeeld hadden kunnen worden met mijn maatje, maakte het evengoed een beslist ferme uitdaging voor mij. Het enorme aantal kaarten waren ingenieus opgebouwd, waarbij ik nog eens extra werd uitgedaagd door de zoon van de organisator. Hij bedacht voor mij de mooiste route (zie foto) en deze bewaar ik natuurlijk in mijn plakboek. Verder was alles tot in de puntjes verzorgd, zelfs de Veglunoa hamburger (zie foto) was heerlijk en voorkwam enige spierpijn nadien. Genoten dus mét en ván de zachte G! Teun, Steef, Bart, familie de Laat, Meulenbroek en al die andere enthousiaste en fijne vrijwilligers van BlueBear, wederom onwijs bedankt voor een heerlijk zonnige editie! V pondělí jsem se rozhodl jít do práce až v úterý 🤷♂️🤣 Takže první letošní koloběžka na nedávno objevené cyklostezce 😍 Venku skoro 15°C, slunce hřálo, vzduch byl teplý a už se krásně tetelil, jívy jsou plné bzučících včel, no prostě ráj na zemi. Musel jsem se nakonec na dvacet minut vyvalit na slunce a jen se vyhřívat. Sikke en weekend i Jylland- Linnet 🥳 Mace og jeg gav den gas og fik en flot 3 plads ud af 16. Henrik kørte med Ouzo og de fik en god midterpladsering. Vi fik hygget og snakket med en masse andre hundefolk💫 og ikke mindst med hinanden efter Henrik har været en uge i Tyskland. 🥉Ingen tvivl om, at det er fedt at få en pladsering og at træningen på den måde giver pote, men det vigtigste for mig er, at Mace er blevet rolig i hovedet af, at få lov at køre løb. En hund med så meget power skal bruges, og det kan han vitterligt få lov til ved at løbe som om fanden er i hælene på ham. Det forhindrer os ikke i at gå ture, lave fitness og coretræning, noseworke, og jagttræning. Han elsker at arbejde, og han elsker udfordringer og er SÅ meget den bedste makker man kan ønske sig💞vi træner videre på cykel og har også en apporteringsprøve i vente til sommer🐾🦆, så når det sidste cykelløb er klaret i Hvalsø om 14 dage, så skal vi træne artighed... stopfløjt, en pæn Heel, pæne afleveringer m.m Og hvad skal JEG så træne😁? . Uden tvivl skal lillemor bare i bedre form, så vi kan blive endnu hurtigere.... det skal blandt andet trænes lår😅😅😅 og væk med 4 overflødige kg, så jeg får nok at se til. Today's #kickbike #ride was 52km, almost all on shared trails (Murray to Mountain Rail Trail, Corowa-Mulwala Trail) between Rutherglen and Collendina. It was cold at the start of the ride (6.9C), but after the sun rose it started to warm up. This ride felt easier than some of the recent rides of about the same length, and was a reasonable average speed. There was a gentle WSW breeze which may have made the return journey a bit easier than it otherwise would have been. Ride Stats from Garmin app: AVG moving speed: 16kph. AVG heart rate: 126bpm. Sweet Senja daydreaming about snicky snacks and adventures 💭 We went on a spontaneous environmental training adventure to a local trail where we haven’t really been before. You can walk along both sides of a river and there are bridges, playgrounds and the cutest cafe 😍 Little bean finally had her first proper teen day with some barking and a few small reactions to a couple of intense dogs and a woman lying in the grass photographing flowers 😂 Even so, she was so, so good. It really didn’t take much to get her back on track, and I did focus on letting her figure things out on her own and reinforce when she problem solved well 💪🏼 The walk ended with us standing in line for the cafe. There were a ton of people in line, so we waited for quite some time. There were other dogs in line and a ton that passed by while we were waiting. Senja was so chill and just sat down and watched everything and everyone pass by 🧘🏻♀️ She was also so gentle and patient when grown ups and kids wanted to say hello 🥹 Thank you @gknatt / @pawsome_hundetjenester for inviting us! The rest of the dogs are happy after yesterday’s big park adventure and this morning’s kickbike session! So we’ll all enjoy a very chill evening in and recharge for tomorrow 🔋

For at least a year now I've been frustrated by an apparent lack of a suitable front #pannier rack for my #kickbike . Today I think I've finally found a suitable solution. I drilled a couple of holes in the plate at one end of an old #mtb Topeak rear rack for disk brake equipped #bicycles so the bracket can be attached to the centre of it, then the bracket was attached to the Kickbike and rack. After tightening up all the screws it fits and sits well. Then I tried a old large Topeak MTX bag + side pockets in the rack - it sits and locks in well . Now I just need to test how it feels while actually riding it with the large bag and some extra weight. All of this is to see if it's viable as a multi-day Kickbike touring configuration. Today's 53km #kickbike #ride meant this week was the first time I've ridden 165+km in a week on my Kickbike. According to the Garmin app... I was in the following Heart Rate Zones: 78 mins (33% of ride) in Maximum zone. 107 mins (46% of ride) in Threshold zone. 37 mins (15% of ride) in Aerobic zone. My AVG heart rate was 141bpm and maximum heart rate was 169bpm. I burned 2512 calories (10510kj) during the ride. The ride included Rutherglen, Prentice North, Chiltern Valley, Chiltern, part of Chiltern-Mt Pilot National Park & Cornishtown.
