We tried something new. It turns out, Hudson is terrified of butterflies (at least he was yesterday)... And he was not thrilled with my sheer betrayal when I not so subtly CACKLED as the butterflies tried to land on the feeding flower he was holding. Despite this minor incident, we all had a wonderful time together as a family. Miss Kinley loved the feeding flower, butterflies, and the other animals. Hudson LOVED the little aquarium and petting the starfish and sea cucumber! He enjoyed counting turtles and all the other fish and animals. Bear with me this week. I've updated a lot and still have one more to go! Haha 💙 Hudson Update 💙 Mr. Hudson is the sweetest (and probably sassiest) 2 year old EVER! He loves his mom and dad so incredibly much. It absolutely melts my heart when he out of the blue says, "I love you Mommy!" or comes over to give me kisses. He also makes me have to chuckle under my breath with some of the mischievous things he does, because I can't let him think it is funny (and trust me.... He already thinks he is hilarious; see photos of him letting his sister topple over). This boy has a HUGE heart and big love to give, but also has a BIG attitude. 🤣 Our little bug is extremely vocal and his intelligence amazes us! He knows his colors, his ABCs, and his numbers -- in fact he surprised us by randomly without help or promoting counting backwards from 10 to 1. He prefers hanging out with the older kiddos at "school" because they communicate better with him than the younger ones. So, often you find our little peanut with the older kids now. Hudson enjoys climbing on everything, playing outside, making his sister laugh, playing with his cousin Tucker (Chicken), trucks, his Fluffy Nanu, cuddles with mommy, having dad sing him to sleep at night, reading books, his vacuum , helping cook and take out the garbage/recyclables, fruit snacks, and watching his special shows (Hey Bear, Ms. Rachel, "Trucks", and now Blippi). There is just something special about this boy! He is such a special gift. I hope he wants to keep giving his mom hugs forever. 🍂 8 Month Update 🍂 Miss K is rounding out 8 months! She has 8 teeth (one for each month) and has the most infectious smile. She now gives some big belly laughs which are simply contagious as well! We have officially made it 8 months of breastfeeding. We are proud! I can say that this month has been one of the first where my health allowed me to truly enjoy that bond to it's fullest ❤️ Kinley has finally started being more interested in real food. Some of her favorites include baby puffs, noodles, and nectarines! Mom and Dad enjoy calling her Miss K, Kinley Cat, Kinley Catherine, Princess K, Princess, and Baby girl (or BG -- guess who calls her that?? Haha). Miss Kinley crawls all over the place, likes to pull herself up on things, can bear crawl as well, and touches everything! Kinley thinks Dad and brother are the funniest, but she absolutely adores her mommy! She still does not enjoy solo baths, but did think her first bath with her brother was fun. She is a pretty happy girl, but it's not a fan of being set down after she has been held by mom. We love our beautiful girl so much! ☀️ 5 MONTHS ☀️ We are approaching closer to 6 months, but cannot skip our 5 month update! Our princess has had a big month. Little Miss Kinley is 13 lbs 14.4 oz and 25.5 inches long. She decided to pop not one, but TWO teeth in the past month (much earlier than her big brother)! Little Miss K let out some big belly laughs at Hudson. She adores him! She laughs at mommy and dad too, but Hudson is simply hilarious 😂 Kinley loves to "chatter" and still enjoys being told she is pretty. She enjoys playing with her feet, kisses from mom and dad, playing with Hudson, making loud noises, pulling moms hair, petting her puppies, going to the Farmers Market, and being outside. We have made it five months of breastfeeding and have been able to donate to two other families! We are pretty proud of this accomplishment! Kinley looks forward to trying some big girl food in the next month (well maybe not, but mom is excited to watch her try)! She is also working toward her goal of sitting up all on her own. We love our sweet girl very much. It is bittersweet watching her grow. This little princess and her brother truly have my whole heart! My maternity leave has come to an end. My heart breaks that it did not end the way I had hoped with snuggles at home and time just focused on my little sweetie. ❄️1 MONTH UPDATE❄️ Kinley is excited to celebrate one entire month with us. She is becoming more and more alert each day! We are also very excited to celebrate one month of successful breastfeeding! Kinley is a champion eater and was already 9 lbs 9 oz last week! We FINALLY found one pacifier and bottle that she will tolerate. Dad is especially excited about that! Little K enjoyed all the snuggles she got while celebrating Christmas and New Years with family as well as during this snow storm. 11 MONTH UPDATE: My sweet smiley little baby is turning into such a big boy in the blink of an eye. Last month Hudson cut 3 teeth and started walking! His hair is finally long enough to experience "bed head" and I think it is the cutest thing ever. Our tiny tornado gets into EVERYTHING 🤣 Huddy is still very much a mommas boy but thinks daddy is pretty funny and loves him too. He loves hanging with grandma and grandpa when mom and dad are at work at night and thinks grandpa is hilarious as well. He wants to play with cousin Tucker so bad but has not quite figured out gentle touches 😬 We have officially made it to 11 months of breastfeeding and cannot believe we have just one more month to reach our goal of 1 year! I feel incredibly blessed to have been able to make it this far. Hudson loves: - His brothers Rocco and Charlie - All things water (Swimming pool, bath time, dog water 🤦🏼♀️) - Sensory bins, music, dancing, swings/slides - Climbing up/on/over/under anything and everything - Turning book pages on his own Hudson dislikes: - Ear infections!!! They are the absolute worst! - Having is nose and face cleaned. - Trying to do something he wants to do but just can't quite do yet. We love our sweet Huddy Bug more than anything. Austin and I frequently discuss how we did not know you could love someone this way/so much. Loving a child is a special kind of love that is hard to describe. ☘️ 10 MONTH UPDATE ☘️ (This one is long) How LUCKY I am to be loved by you! I cannot explain what it feels like to be loved by this little man. The title of mom is the single greatest title I could have. You, little man, are the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow 🌈💛 We have made it 10 months of breastfeeding! At the beginning of our journey I didn't think this was going to be possible but BOTH of us are sure happy it worked out. Hudson will sign milk when he wants milk from momma and says "meh meh meh" or just repeatedly says"momma." Hudson officially has 1 tooth! His smile is just as infectious ❤️ He is still a peanut weighing in at 17 lbs 4 oz despite having the appetite of a grown man. He will stand and pick things up to give you. He thinks about walking but then decides he is much quicker at crawling.. So no steps just yet! He loves hearing "thank you!" Hudson Loves: - Cuddles during naps on momma's week off - Swimming, bath time, the dog water bowl.. Basically all things water 🌊 - Dancing to music... But especially his "Chicken in a Biscuit" song - Touching everything and exploring textures - He still loves books, but prefers if he can "read" them on his own 🤣 - Kissing his brothers.. 5 MONTH UPDATE: We are a couple days late, but "Huddy Bug" is 5 months! We have made it 5 months of breastfeeding, which I am extremely proud of! He is still the smiliest baby and has now learned to laugh. That sound will make you melt! He got to experience his first trip to the pumpkin patch and has started making friends at daycare. Hudson likes: - "Naked" tummy time on his mat - Doing "push-up's" and scooting off of his mat - Throwing anything not attached to his saucer on the floor and watching people pick it up - Rubbing his hands on all sorts of textures (especially his brothers Rocco and Charlie and furniture) - Chewing on EVERYTHING - Tylenol - he LOVES cherry tylenol - Trying to sit up on his own - Watching daddy dance, when grandma Jackie and grandpa Bill make silly noises at him, swimming with Aunt Whitney and uncle Ricky, and of course mommy cuddles - Hey Bear sensory videos (Thank you Amanda for introducing them to us!) 3 MONTH UPDATE: This is by far the HARDEST update for my momma heart to write. Today is my last day of maternity leave with my baby. The random outbursts of tears started already on Thursday. We have so much to celebrate. - We have officially made it to 3 MONTHS of breast feeding! - Daddy admits Hudson is definitely a momma's boy ❤️ (Those are some of the best words I have EVER heard). Music to my ears! 🎶 - Hudson has REALLY found his voice. He loves to tell stories. - He decided tummy time is not always terrible and holds his head up high. - Hudson rolls from his belly to his back when he is over tummy time. - He grabs momma's face and his toys and critically studies them. -He chuckles at the noises he makes and always knows how to make his momma smile. I know I will miss some "firsts" while I'm at work and that breaks my heart. But, Hudson starts daddy daycare tomorrow and knowing daddy will get to experience them makes it just a little easier. 11 WEEK UPDATE: This is a pretty special week for Hudson so far as he has been blessed to meet his Great Grandma B, Great Grandpa Leo, Great Grandma Vonnie, his Auntie Hannah Thalacker , Uncle Bronson Thalacker , Auntie Emily, and all of his Wisconsin Cousins! He will hopefully be meeting his Auntie Leanne Halling , Uncle Karl Halling , and Uncle Jacob too! He has had a wonderful time getting grandma and grandpa Haugestuen cuddles and is loving ranch life at Haugestuen Ranches ! Hudson is still a sweet smiley baby, he is an excellent traveler, he eats like he is in a contest, loves to sit up and face out to take in the world around him, is currently on a pretty good sleep schedule, and is adored by mommy and daddy! 10 WEEK UPDATE: Hudson and I simply cannot believe he is already 10 weeks old! My babe is very alert and holds his head up like a pro. He loves to talk to anyone who will listen and gives them big gummy smiles. He does not have much for dislikes other than waking up hungry and changing out of his swimming suit (we discovered today). We added reading books and swimming to our list of hobbies this week! My little baby shark looked darn cute sporting his sharks today for shark week! 🦈 Momma's favorite activity is still soaking up all of the Huddy cuddles I can get and admiring how perfect he is. 2 MONTHS: 🧁 🍭 🍦 My sweet boy celebrated two months with his well baby visit and two month shots. It broke my heart to watch him hurt. His hurt meant that I got some extra sweet cuddles though! My growing boy is 10 lbs 5 oz and more than 23.5 inches long! Despite the rough start to his day, he managed some seriously sweet smiles and looked darn cute in his sweet treats @littlesleepies ! 8 WEEK UPDATE: The 8 weeks spent with my sweet, strong, smiley, outdoor-loving, Little Sleepies wearing, currently strawberry-blonde hair, blue-eyed boy have been bliss (and a little sleep deprived)! My heart broke a little when I had to pack away some of my newborn clothes for him this past week. But, my heart smiled knowing he is tackling those milestones and growing like a weed! 7 WEEK UPDATE & FIRST FATHER'S DAY: Huddy Buddy continues to change everyday. He loves butt pats, car rides, going outside when it is warm, his @littlesleepies , cuddles with mommy, and as you can tell his daddy! He is over 9 lbs now and greater than 22 inches long. He is the light of our life and smiles when he hears, "I love you" or "you are so handsome!" One of my greatest joys in life is watching my sweet baby boy grow. 6 WEEK UPDATE: I have been blessed to be Hudson's mom now for 6 whole weeks! It is crazy how much he changes and his personality developes from week to week! Hudson LOVES to eat, morning cuddles with mom, and his play gym! Hudson enjoys chats with mom, dad, auntie, grandma, and grandpa! His coos and babbles are truly the sweetest. Hudson still does not enjoy bath time too much and gets upset if he feels he is not receiving sufficient attention (though he is the absolute center of my world). My sweet, smiley, stretchy stud officially hit the 1 month mark on the 2nd! This week we celebrated: ⭐ Hudson's one month of life in which mom AND dad were able to hold him. Having Huddy in my belly was amazing but so is having him in my arms! 👨👩👦 ⭐ One month of breast feeding and pumping. This has turned out to not be as easy and natural as everyone thinks! 🍼🤱 ⭐ Hudson's very first outing. Hudson likely didn't care about being at the zoo, but we sure enjoyed it. We are especially grateful that grandma and grandpa were able to attend too! 🦒 ⭐ Mom fitting into her pre-pregnancy pants! 👖 Woo Hoo! Being a mom has certainly had it's learning curves and adjustments. There has been a lack of sleep and some tears. But, the joy it has brought by far and large outweighs the struggles! 4 WEEK UPDATE: Take a look at that smile 😍 I have been loving the most perfect boy for an entire month already and cannot believe how much he has already changed! He is still unsure of bath time but is much more relaxed after. Just like his momma, he likes to feel clean! He is hungry what seems like all the time and is starting to fill out... Must be doing some serious growing! Hudson is very vocal about his dislikes... And right now his biggest dislike is being put down. My sweet Huddy Buddy LOVES cuddles. Though it makes some tasks a little difficult, I'll take all the cuddles I can get! My favorite non-Hudson related activities these days are taking a nice warm shower, brushing my teeth, and possibly sneaking a short nap. Each activity is a luxury... WEEK 3 UPDATE: Hudson is growing like a weed! My sweet itty bitty baby is gaining weight and filling out. He already doesn't look like a little baby anymore. Can time just slow down a little?! We got a sneak peak of some of Hudson's Newborn photos back and are completely in love 😍 @elenarussellphotography always does a wonderful job and was so good with Hudson ❤️ We struggled for the first couple weeks with our nursing journey, but little man has FINALLY figured it out! As a family, we decided the chaos of having a newborn was not enough craziness so we bought/closed on our first home (pictures to follow)!!! Thank you Bill Ferguson, Tim Allex Realty Group, Keller Williams Realty Sioux Falls for getting us into our beautiful home! WEEK 2 UPDATE: My sweet baby boy is 2 weeks old today! He truly is the greatest blessing. Austin Haugestuen and I are so incredibly in love with our little sunshine. His sweet cuddles and little noises just make my momma heart melt. Hudson loves skin-to-skin time, being warm and cuddled, eating, and waking mom and dad up in the middle of the night. He likes when mommy and daddy sing to him too! Hudson is not a fan of body baths (washing his hair/head is ok though), diaper changes, or being cold. The boys are adjusting to him. Charlie still thinks he should be the baby and old man Rocco likes being a brother but wishes to hide when Hudson cries. INTRODUCING: Hudson William Haugestuen Our sweet baby BOY arrived promptly on his due date, May 2nd, 2021. Hudson weighed in at a whopping 6lbs 13 oz and was 20 3/4 inches long. My heart gushes each time In look at him. I am so completely in awe and love. ♥️👶👣🍼 We prayed for this sweet little sunshine of ours and cannot even begin to understand how we were blessed with such perfection.
