Dog School🐕 Be still my beating heart💗 This is Max🖤🤎💛 and he's a 2 year old German Shepherd🤩 Gorgeous big guy, weighing in at well over 40kg! Mainly because his heart is made of gold😉 He is adored by Dad and Mum....and me too🙋🏼♀️ Now Max is everything you'd expect from a GSD, affectionate and playful but he also absolutely loves other dogs🎉 So much so that if he's off-lead and spots one, he's off like a shot to make friends🚀 Then he goes deaf when he gets there because he's having such a blast!🎉📢🙉 And boom! That's it reinforced, every time it happens💯 We start at home🙌 Creating much more focus on Dad👀, strong recall foundations, and managing/handling a longline lead to begin with. Dog School🐕 Pupdate: Miss Roxy🖤 Very nearly 8 months old and all GSD🥰 She's an absolute balloon🤪, so very affectionate and as much as she has exhausted us (and herself), she is adored💗 We're almost 4 weeks in now🙌 I haven't been to the loo on my own since we brought her home🤣 Neither has Gyps. A wee bit clingy, but that's to be expected. It's getting better. She&Gyps went up to bed without me last night🥺 Just left me sitting here!🤷🏼♀️😂 In all seriousness, raising Roxy and helping her settle in, training, and nurturing her is full on💯 Lots of little things (like not shouting every time she goes outside) are sorting themselves out the more confident and settled she gets, others (like not nibbling me or the cat, not eating Gypsy's dinner or being pushy with her, jumping up, lead-walking, not doing a big GSD react when she sees other dogs she doesn't know, not rolling stones around in your mouth...the list goes on😉) we're working on. She's not being 'bad' or 'naughty', she's learning. Time⏳️- 3 days to decompress (it was wild altogether), 3 weeks to settle in (it's a lot less wild), 3 months to feel like home (I can't wait🤣). She has come a very long way already🙌 and good fluff is she smart!?! I may up my game! Mom says that I’m a sneaky one! All of last week mom said I was going to the kennel, so her and dad could go camping. I was against it from the start! Immediately, I started thinking of ways for them to take me. So, I put my plan into action a few hours after dad dropped me and my brothers off. I waited until there were no humans in the kennel and I pulled the wire from the kennel door up and inward and slid underneath it. I had escaped! Then I decided to chew up Sid’s leash, a dish scrubbie and a vacuum cord. I was careful not to swallow anything though! This left the kennel owners no choice but to call mom.. her and dad were now obligated to come back and get me! Before then, I haven’t missed a camping trip and wasn’t going to yet. So, off I went to Traverse City State Park for the weekend. It was kind of rainy but I got to go into the Grand Traverse Commons, watch scary movies with mom and dad, and take walks around the campground. 😭😭😭 Make it make sense. Kasper felt so great on Monday. He woke up on Tuesday and seemed great too—couldn’t wait for breakfast and happily ate it all. As I was scrambling to get out the door though, he got up and proceeded to have diarrhea allllllll over one of the living room rugs. 😫 💩 It took an hour to clean him up, drag the rug outside, and de-funk the room. We fasted him, but the diarrhea continued today (albeit, a very small amount). I can’t explain the stress levels involved with this much (and this many years of) caregiving (there’s much more than I talk about here with other family members).
