Hooray & hurrah! Bar glossing the skirting boards the kitchen/family room is DONE ☑️!!! Goodness me Mr B has worked damn hard on this project. It’s been a massive job! The kitchen wall came down in the first couple of days of the build. I have no idea why a previous owner decided to knock between the dining room and living room rather than between the kitchen and dining room. The kitchen will now be around 4.6m x 3.6m, which seems a fair size to me. However, one kitchen designer presented me with his plans and announced he couldn’t fit in a bin. What a beautiful transformation isn’t it? I love to design spaces where I am able to provide better usage of spaces. The whole ground floor was upgraded. More than 3 months and so many decisions. But the turnout being so beautiful I don’t mind the struggle. Supppperrr excited to share this project with you all. Before the island was a big and dull place, made the kitchen area less useful and untidy. Now its bigger with more cabinets and the space where all the family members can actually sit and talk. We increased the counter space by moving the fridge. There used to be non-usable working station which we converted into dry kitchen for electronic gadgets and obviously more storage space for kitchen. Laundry has surrounded built in look with pantries on both side, where all the cleaning supplies are hidden 😅. This location is so beautiful and now inside and out matches perfectly. The best part of all I met amazing people in this journey. Clients were so cooperating and friendly made my project more interesting. I wouldn’t be able to achieve this without their support. They believed in my designs and let me built whatever I imagined for their place. Scaff is up, stud walls are in upstairs and the steels are all in everywhere that’s needed which means the roof is all set to be dormer’ed in only a matter of days now! The internal lounge wall has also been knocked through with just one elevation of glazing left to be opened up in here, and the ugly bulkhead that would have sat right above the sofa area is now a thing of the past (this means the ceiling joists have come out in here for now and the new office has no floor currently, but a very small price to pay! Have been waiting for this day!) Here’s one of them: already totally in love with the perspectives this build is creating. Imagine stepping down into a south-west facing garden living room snug flooded with gorgeous golden hour sunlight. A floor to ceiling crittall panel that you can start to picture the scale of straight ahead of you in the first pic - two panes across by three panels down so lovely and large with @fabcosanctuaryltd finest fine frames for the all-important attention to detail. There’ll be an identical panel in the exterior wall on the left, and on the garden wall to the right will be a mirror to bounce the light and trick the eye plus some clever planting around a cosy seating area for evenings around the fire pit or a sheltered morning coffee. G A R D E N L I V I N G : the other major perk of moving the kitchen to the front, north-facing, bay room is that the whole of the back can be opened up into a living room and snug area that will benefit from the warm glow of south-facing evening light and have none of the ‘living in a fishbowl’ feeling that the front rooms do at a time you wish to be at your cosiest and have some privacy. This room will have floor-to-ceiling crittall glazing on three sides - the end one of which where the board is will open onto a herringbone brick dining terrace. It was in fact this room and the ability to create the indoor-outdoor connection and lose the need to retreat into the cooler rooms at the front in the midst of the evening golden hours that first led our decision to relocate the kitchen, and it’s now just beginning to show us exactly why we did this.
