This was a basic timber IKEA crate and I had a vision to give it a makeover so it would fit the theme of my Maximalist studio. It will be used for storing craft materials. Oh my gosh, the El Greco pigment in Byzantine Gold turned out amazing! I mixed the pigment powder with Pureco's water based Satin varnish to create metallic paint. Then I stamped it on using IOD Rose Toile (one of my favourite designs which I've used for many different projects over the years). The green paint is Pureco Silk Finish - mix of Fern and Carbon. Introducing the new Bronze El Greco metallic pigment powder by FlexiWood. This is absolutely stunning to use, it's vibrant yet softer than copper or gold. You can mix these powders with a water based varnish to create a metallic paint, or with clear wax to make a gilding wax. Here is another one of my wooden eggs with FlexiWood Australia mouldings attached. This style reminds me of old metal garden furniture where the paint is weathered and chipping off. I first painted in Fusion Mineral Paint, added dabs of wax to create a resist, then painted over with Fusion Milk Paint in Sea Glass. Once dried, sealed with clear wax. 🦌 Inspired by The Golden Stag of ARTEMIS 🦌 This was a super fun project. I up-cycled an old bottle case using some of the new IOD goodies - the stag from Invitation Only mould, label plate from Conservatory Labels mould and mini letters from Apothecary Labels stamp set. I also used the new FlexiWood El Greco powder pigment in Bronze, which is gorgeous - I added some dark wax over it here to blend in with the piece. One simple example of how a Flexiwood Moulding can elevate your decor. This is FW1326 is perfect for arches or curves and can be mould with heat to flex into the right position for your chosen use. This is how step-by-step how I typically add a Flexiwood moulding to furniture, homewares, decor, etc: 1. Paint and let dry 2. Add some guilding wax to accentuate the intricacies of the moulding. 3. Use a hair dryer to soften the flexiwood and add glue to the back. 4. Heat the Flexiwood a little bit more. 5. Position the moulding, pressing it down evenly and hold in place for a few seconds ‘til cool. How about a rustic country look, like something hand carved by French artisans 150 years ago… 🤔 These decor eggs were an experiment and I didn’t have a style planned for them. We learnt a beautiful decorative painting technique called “frottage”by lovely Jane from #plainjanepaints at the #paintersuntamed2023 weekend. Here’s the finished board sample I was working on the other day, using the FlexiWood mouldings 😁 These Annie Sloan gilding waxes can be applied gently with the fingertip to highlight areas (as shown on the left sides) or painted on thickly with a small brush to look like metallic paint (on the right sides). 🌻🌻🌻 SOLD 🌻🌻🌻 A vintage "Kitchen Pantry Cupboard" upcycled with Artisan Mineral Paint in Gumleaf, a cool green grey colour, and Lagoon, a deep tropical sea green with blue tones. The inside of this cupboard was in excellent condition so the original wood was left unpainted. On the largest door a FlexiWood Medallion Moulding was added for extra character. This was painted in Gumleaf and highlighted with bronze gilding wax. There is a glass shelf for displaying items with a mirror on the inside back wall. I am so excited today as we finally get to show what we have been working on for so long. So welcome to our new webpage - highlandsrevamp.com.au (I will pop the link in below to make it easier to find 😊 As a part of the changes we are undertaking, we are now selling the complete range of beautiful Artisan chalk and mineral paints and finishes, as well as a range of gorgeous Flexiwood furniture appliqués and transfers - basically, most of the things that you need to transform your own furniture. Artisan is the paint that I use and I just love it - it’s Australian made, eco friendly and amazing, reliable quality, and as I do a lot of appliqués and stencilling, I felt it was important to stick these also. To achieve this effect, I painted it over the surface and then wiped back with a damp cloth.
