I mean look at them!!! I can’t believe it! Gaia and Togo are officially the same weight, both weight exactly 33.8 lbs. I mean Gaia did get an extra treat for being a good girl so now she may be at 33.9 lbs. Togo is now a little bit taller than her, and just turn 5 months old five days ago! I feel like he is growing way too fast! Since getting him, my friends back home have been calling him “little meatball” but lately with how fast he is growing he is more like a “meatloaf”, than a “meatball”. Spending time with those two has literally been the highlight of my days. I am going to be honest, I am terrify of how big Togo is going to be. But even if he becomes a giant, he will always stay a little fluff in my head. He is the perfect definition of “I just want to be like you when I grow up!”. Cloudy days are where you find the best silver linings. … I usually prefer warm, sunny days, but the milder weather during the shoulder seasons are much better for Markus. I don’t worry about him overheating and sometimes a little bit of cloudy gloom or even rain means there’s less people and dogs out on the trails. It makes it hard to pack light though because I end up with warm weather clothes but also sweaters and waterproof gear just in case. And for our recent long weekend trip, I’m glad I did because the weather was a bit all over the place. Are you a light packer when you travel or do you feel the need to pack lots of “just in case” outfits and gear? One of my travel must-haves is a great waterproof shoe, like the @vessi Stormburst low top. It’s perfect for rainy days, but also very comfortable for sunny days! Following our last munros, the Scottish government announced a two week lockdown in October 2020. Little did we know then that in our area, we would remain locked up until April 2021. And a lot happened in that time. We are lucky enough to live in an area surrounded by hills. We were fortunate enough to even see some inversions and snow in these months. Once again, the hills weere filled with people getting out for their daily exercise. Lottie, if we're honest, didn't relish this. She was a dog that was happier practising social distancing before it became fashionable. She likes to be left in peace when walking, only engaging with a handful of people and dogs. As the hills filled, sadly, not all were well behaved. On a cold January day, Lottie was chased by two out of control 'playful' dogs. We have been so quiet the past months, as we have been so busy doing this… Snuggling on the couch while enjoying some treats! Lately, a lot of my recent focus have been spending time with the dogs and building a strong bound with them, for them but also for my mental health. I have been feeling more and more the need lately to be in the present moment with those two. Working on building my bound with Togo, and strength my connection with Gaia, while also spending time building our connection all three together. We have been working on hiking all three of us together, and finding our rhythm. Man… I have almost tripped so many time on our hikes, but we finally find our rhythm. I love how the dogs and I have managed to create our little universe. Sharing a snack on the couch all of us three together has became our daily little ritual. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been inside for so many days in a row, but I’m guessing it was probably the last time I got surgery, which was 7 years ago. 😆 I haven’t stepped foot outside in FIVE. DAYS. Usually a day and a half inside will drive me INSANE, so I thought I’d be going pretty crazy by now! I guess the recovery my body needed after my knee surgery did something weird to my brain, because I’ve been just fine. 🤷♀️ Let’s see, over the past 5 days, I’ve spent probably a third of that time sleeping, getting LOTS of snuggle time with Jango, and a lot less time with Boba (because he has horrible physical boundaries and specifically likes to lay ON MY KNEES when sleeping 😆). I’ve worked 15 hours from home 👊🏻, done some crafting, and actually quite a bit of awkward, hobbling-around-on-crutches cleaning. What do you do to pass the time when you can’t go outside, whether from being sick, recovering from something, or because of bad weather?

Adventure awaits! . Otter turns 8 months old in a few days. That means I feel comfortable starting to increase his time and distance on the trail. . While he's only 1 lb heavier than Summit (for now anyway), his body shape is different. To my delight, Ruffwear harnesses fit him well. . @ruffwear was the first dog gear brand that I fell in love with (ad). I love they they make quality, functional gear that stands up to the adventure dog life. It looks good on him, too! 😍 . The new and improved Front Range Harness and Leash contains recycled materials for a reduced impact on the planet. Even though the hook looks big, and it has a padded handle, the leash is extremely lightweight. . The conservative estimate of how long an 8 month old puppy should hike at a time so their joints aren't over-taxed is 40 minutes (8 mo X 5 min). I've always let him set his own pace, though, and know that he can already go at least an hour without getting tired. . With more regular short walks, and at least one longer hike a week, I'm hoping he'll be able to hike 6 or 7 miles (about 4 hours for us) by the end of the summer. . Do you think the blue looks good on him?
