This is a plastic world, we’re just surviving in it. 🫠 Plastic has taken over our lives, even if we don’t see it (hello, microplastics). 🔍 We need to come together to hold corporations and governments accountable. Our society encourages rapid consumption. Late stage capitalism is all about making things cheap and convenient, which means constantly buying new and throwing away the old. 😣 We need to do what we can individually, while pushing for accountability and change collectively. ✨ We learned a lot in April about Plastics. You are all incredible! 🥳 One of the many reasons we at The Peppery Cat love working with Miniml Refills is their closed loop system where we return all the empty containers to them to wash and refill so they keep being used. This picture shows just a small amount of 5 and 20 litre containers we have ready to return to Miniml, totalling 190 litres just here. We calculate that means 380 500ml bottles or 633 300ml bottles have been refilled by you, thus saving them from being thrown away (and frequently not recycled)! AWESOME! 🎉👏. #stacksaturday Do you celebrate Earth 🌎 Day? I made a blue and green stack to celebrate Earth Day. I am an environmental engineer, and my life mission is to make sure the world is a better place for those who come after us. I currently work for the state as a wastewater compliance engineer. I do a variety of things, including such items as inspecting wastewater treatment plants, following up on spills from facilities, and checking data to make sure that what is discharged into the waters of the state is clean. It keeps me busy, which puts me behind on Instagram sometimes....like this past month!! The first Earth Day was in 1970 and was started by Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson. The waters of Wisconsin and the United States have come a long way since 1970, but there is still work to do.
