In at 5%, this is an English-style Brown Ale, it pours a deep brown with an off-white head and a nutty nose, it’s smooth and creamy yet light and crushable, great chocolate malt vibes with a mild sweetness, it’s balanced and clean with a dry, cold brew finish. Yummo.
#8423 Counterpart Restless Dreams (Canada) Double vibes. An 8% DIPA with Citra and Riwaka, it pours murky with a fluffy head and a dank, citrusy nose, it’s thick and sticky with stewed mango, guava and pineapple vibes, there’s some lime zest and peachy notes, it’s sweet creamy, some papaya and zippy melon with a juicy, dry finish. Fantastic.
#8422 Third Moon Bone Tree - DDH Fourth Anniversary (Canada) The next brew in TM’s anniversary drops is their annual DDH Bone Tree IPA, one of my fave beers of the year. As always, it’s 6.5% and rocks their hand-selected Citra and Citra Cryo, it’s murky af with a fluffy head and a tropical nose, it’s creamy and chalky with tons of juicy mango, pithy grapefruit and pineapple vibes, it’s got a touch of hop burn in there, super tropical with a nice sweetness, wrapping in a juicy, dry finish. Killer.
#8421 Notch Salem Lager (USA) Back home and getting into some cans. This is a gem of a crispy I picked up in Buffalo last week from the Mass lords at Notch. Coming in at 4.5%, this is a Bavarian-style Helles Lager, it pours clear with a foamy head and a bready nose, it’s crisp and smooth with a great cereal profile, light grassy bitterness and a touch of citrus, it’s clean and crushable, tons of flavour, balanced with a dry, biscuity finish. Glorious.
#8420 Something In The Water Dublin Bay Nitro Irish Stout (Canada) Stout time. This is their 4% nitro stout, it pours a deep brown with a bubbly off white head and a chocolatey nose, it’s smooth and creamy as expected with a nice mocha vibe, balanced sweetness, super light and crushable, the nitro isn’t shining as much as I thought it would but it’s still hella tasty, a kiss of bitterness, ending in a dry, chocolatey finish. Delightful.
#8419 Something In The Water Kings In The North 116 Pilsner (Canada) Just did a 10km walk around Bellwoods and Lakeshore, so we stopped into SITW in Liberty for a bite and brews. I’m getting into their 4.5% Czech-style Pilsner, it pours clear with a foamy head and a bready nose, it’s hella crisp and sharp, super refreshing, grassy bitterness, peppery Saaz vibes, light lemon notes, wrapping in a dry, grainy finish. Solid af, going down a treat.

Six years of world class beer, fantastic food, tons of fun with wonderful people, and constantly Keeping it Dank. Thank you to all of our supporters, we do it for you, and thank you to our team that makes it all happen, we can not do it without you! We put together copious amounts of some of our favorite hops: Citra, Mosaic, Cascade, Strata, Nectaron, Riwaka, and utilized them throughout the hot side and of course used no restraint for dry hopping. Our malt base was a mix of two-row and Ye Olde from our standard source since we began six years ago, Sugar Creek Malt Co. right here in Boone County. We coupled that with a hefty load of oats and an addition of Belgian Candi sugar for a boost, which all aligned for the perfect landing pad for all that the hops had to offer. #8418 Imprint Schmoojee White Chocolate Covered Strawberries (USA) A beaut Buffalo pickup from this PA gem, this is a 6.5% smoothie sour with “sticky drippy smashed strawberries covered with Ghirardelli white chocolate” and it slaps. It pours deep pink with a sea foam head and a big strawberry nose, it’s thick and creamy and sticky with tons of juicy berry vibes, the cream notes must be the white chocolate, it’s a fantastic dessert beer, wrapping in a sweet, smooth finish. Glorious.

#8417 Definitive Float (USA) A nice Maine pickup from Buffalo last week, I kinda messed up and in a frozen daze in the walk-in fridge I grabbed a 4.5 month old DIPA. On paper, that’s not great but Portland’s Definitive know how to keep it fresh. Coming in at 8%, it rocks Citra, Simcoe and Loral, it pours murky with a fluffy head and a dank, citrusy nose, it’s sticky and creamy with a huge body, mango, pineapple and melon vibes, it’s hella citrusy with pithy grapefruit notes, juicy and smooth with a dry, tropical finish. Solid af, legit would never know the age. Big props.
Dyson Sphere DIPA by Azvex Brewing Company With my outside shots for beers sorted, I am now experimenting where to take the best shots in the new house (as I move away from the lightbox) and @azvexbrewing are Guinea Pigs to kick things off 😂 . A tropical beast 👊. It is bursting with peach, melon, passionfruit, lime, grapefruit, orange, and tropical flavours. Super smooth, thick, and creamy on the body with a soft mouthfeel. Lots of dank and grassy notes throughout with nae booze and a mild bitterness to finish, lovely stuff 🍻
#8416 5e Baron There’s Always Money In The Banana Stand (Canada) Big ups @nathandoesbeer for this haze bomb from the legends at 5e. Coming in at 7%, this gem is 7% and rocks Motueka, Riwaka and Galaxy, it pours a hazy dark orange with a fluffy head and a sweet, citrus nose, it’s thick and sticky with a bit malty sweetness alongside dank marmalade, lime, papaya and honeydew, it’s smooth and a touch chalky, some light pithy bitterness, wrapping in a juicy, dry finish. Delightful.

This year, they did a Pale Ale recipe swap - 5e did TM’s Rise and TM did 5e’s Celeste, and it slaps. Coming in at 5.2%, it rocks oats and is hopped with their hand-selected Simcoe and Citra from YCH and some Azacca, it pours hella murky with a fluffy head and a tropical nose, it’s thick, chalky and sticky with dank citrus, pineapple, and mango, there’s stone fruit and melon notes, it’s juicy and punchy for the ABV, wrapping in a dry, citrusy finish. Wicked take on one of my fave Pales.

big beach, big flavors 🌊 • i simply had to try as many beer as i could at this adorable brewery. @bigbeachbrewing has some fantastic brews and really great beer names 😆 • the most balanced and flavorful ones i tried were shores light american light lager, one ship wonder belgian single and shelvis blueberry mango. • they lean into the beach theme, but don't rely on it. care definitely goes into the atmosphere with lots of live music, while focusing on what's most important; solid ingredients in each beer. definitely recommend if you're in gulf shores, alabama! cheers, sav!
