I try to post something American on monday in honour of #MuricaMonday whenever I can, but sadly there wasn't anything in that category present at today's edition of Kannetjes & Karretjes (or at least I didn't see it). Or wasn't there? It's all about bending the rules in this corner of The Gram, right? So I'll give you this fabulous 1974 Iso Lele IR6 Automatic 🇮🇹. The engine is a 5.8 litre V8 from... Ford 🇺🇲! And so is the automatic transmission. So there you have it. The Lele, also reffered to as Iso Rivolta Lele, was driving behind us for a while when we were on our way to the event. I must admit I mistook it for a Lamborghini Jarama at first - I wouldn't have made that mistake back when I was a boy, that's for sure - but it turned out to be even more special. About today: the fourth edition of Kannetjes & Karretjes, hosted by the guys from @youngtimersdepodcast, was bigger and better than ever. Most of the usual suspects where there and I talked to a lot of nice people about equally nice cars. (In some cases I spotted the cars, but not the people.) Some of them don't even follow me, can you believe it? Hell, some I can't even tag in the pictures! And the location - the Maasvlakte, which is an industrial facility within the Port of Rotterdam - was a hit, as far as I'm concerned. All those beautiful cars, surrounded by massive ships, wind turbines and container depots: I love it. I think my son @merlijnpasschier, who accompanied me, had a blast as well. Next to the Jaguar today is a nice and cool 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser 🇯🇵, powered by a 238 hp 4 litre V6. This model has never officially been on the Dutch market if I'm not mistaken. Last saturday was the second time I visited #EMWalhalla. It's an event hosted by @elkmerkwaardig, a club that focusses on the misfits of the car world. Last year I feared my Jaguar wouldn't be allowed on the main terrain for not being odd enough, but nobody cared. This year I had the same fear - no idea why, really - and the parking attendant that adressed me suggested I parked at the visitors parking, but when I told him I'd rather be among the misfits and was allowed to last year, he was convinced. So there I was again. The car I parked the Jaguar next to upon arrival was this fabulous 1975 Buick LeSabre 455 Custom 🇺🇲, owned by That Buick Guy we know as @buick_lesabre. Nice to finally see this XJ-dwarfing land yacht in the metal and meet the owner. I really like the vibes of this event, even though technically I don't have the right car. This is a charming 1985 Volvo 340 DL 🇸🇪🇳🇱 in an attractive shade of grey-ish green. Could use a lick of paint - or should I say a bétter lick or paint? - but it can do whitout as well, because it looks cool. Yesterday it occured to me that I could submit the little Dutch Volvo to the Eurotrash theme week on account of the old people stigma and that "Alles heeft ritme" by Frizzle Sizzle - a song I've actually heard once or twice in a supermarket or elevator or whatever - would be a suitable Eurovision song, because the Volvo 340/343 did not have any rhythm when it was new - on account of the old people behind the wheel - but it has nowadays. However, the theme week has been canceled for obvious reasons. I hope the host and the judges are OK. There was a really nice 343 at #EMWalhalla yesterday, I even talked to the owner, but somehow the Jaguar did not end up next to it. I can't possibly be bothered to park next to every Mini I come across, but this one looked pretty fast, so I gave it a go. Is it fast though? Well, yes, kind of. It's a 2013 Mini John Cooper S Works 🇬🇧 with a 211 hp 1.6 litre 4-cylinder engine. 0 to 100 kmh should take 6.5 seconds and it stops accelerating at about 238 kmh. Assuming it's stock. I would like to file the roof, the mirrors, the brake calipers and part of the wheels under #noboringcarcolors. If @parkedindutchstreets, @Kekkekarren, @plankhond and/or @utterchodery think this car is in any way Eurotrash, please enlighten me, I'm at a loss here. If one of you says it is, I promise I will leave my comfort zone - again - and waste some of my precious time searching for a matching Eurovision song (using Wikipedia, obviously). By the way: I'm at #EMWalhalla right now and I parked next to two Minis already. Just so you know. EDIT: I hear #eurotrashweek is cancelled because Joost Klein is canceled. So sorry, gentlemen. Here's a pretty neat 1974 Citroën AK250 🇫🇷 in front of the Jaguar, or at least I think that's its proper name. (And I thought wrong: @citroenazu informs me it's an AZU or 250.) Or should we just call it 2CV Fourgonnette? Or better yet: Besteleend? It's registered as an AU5FT 250. Very cool indeed. Delivered new in The Netherlands, mind you, 50 years ago! I picked up the hashtag #eurotreasure last wednesday and I'm using it once more, because no way this is to be called trash, Euro or otherwise. The second XJ40 I parked next to at last April's Octane Classics & Coffee - or maybe this one's the first and the other one the second, I don't know - was this white 1986 Jaguar Sovereign 🇬🇧, fitted with a 228 hp 3.6 litre straight-six. (How come it's got 2 hp móre than the other, younger Sovereign with the 4 litre?) I do believe Jaguar XJ enthusiasts and other car lovers didn't like this one very much, with its very atypical square head and rear lights. For years it would have been at the very bottom of my personal XJ list, if I had an XJ list. Maybe it still is in the lower regions of this imaginary list, but that'll just be the one with four round headlights - which is also brilliant, don't get me wrong - because XJ40 headlights should be square, don't you agree? I do suspect nowadays this incarnation of the eXperimental Jaguar is on tops of lists instead of bottoms. I have no idea wether sales were good or bad and to be honest I don't know enough about the reliability of this post-British Leyland XJ either - maybe someone will fill me in? - but I do hope above mentioned initial tendency for unlovability, combined with the fact that it's white, will, although it's not going to win me anything for sure, be enough to qualify the XJ40 as my second entry to #Eurotrashweek, courtesy of @parkedindutchstreet and his minions. And probably the last, I'm all out of Eurotrash energy now and I'm not doing the Eurovision thing again either. I mean, I'd probably end up with Brotherhood of Man or Bucks Fizz or whatever. It's a 1975 Alfa Romeo Giulia Nuova Super 🇮🇹 at last month's Octane Classics & Coffee, with sturdy rally lights you all seem to love so much. There's a 1.6 litre - 1600 Nord - power source under the bonnet that's supposed to be putting out 116 hp, but I can imagine some tuning has been done. I do like the bumperlessness. And the colour, obviously. And the stunning 15" Maxilite GTA wheels. The owner turns out to be @scuderia_jamesz. (You didn't really think I knew about the 15" Maxilite GTA wheels and the 1600 Nord, did you?) I asked the owner - one of the owners, as it turns out - what year this Dutch built gem is from, because the plates are covered for some reason, but I couldn't remember the answer later on. Just as I'd decided to go with 1993, I discovered the owners are on the Gram: Dennis and Joep aka @volvo.480.s. So now I know it's a 1995 Volvo 480 ES  🇸🇪🇳🇱. And it may be built in The Netherlands, but it only has Dutch registration since June 2019, about a month and a half prior to the Jaguar. My best liked post so far is one from last month, a Bentley Flying Spur of the present generation. Will this 2006 Bentley Continental Flying Spur 🇬🇧 get picked up as well? Probably not. Ah well, who cares, as long as you and I are enjoying this 560 hp 6 litre W12 super saloon. I had to park in a spot reserved for medical doctors - which I am not - to get next to it. A few days later I spotted this same Bentley where an X350 XJ6 used to be, I wonder if this could be the replacement. If so: very worthy indeed. Is it a 1992 Opel Lotus Omega 🇩🇪? A Lotus Opel Omega 🇬🇧🇩🇪? Opelotus, maybe? Or just a Lotus Omega 🇬🇧? (Or a Lotus Carlton for that matter.) And if so: is it or is it not eligible for #teutonictuesday? Noone really knows. (Well, someone does, probably.) Anyway. It's an Omega alright, but with a 3.6 litre straight-six twin-turbo engine, heavily tweaked by Lotus. The car registration database has no idea what to make of it, says it has 150 hp. More like 377, or so Wikipedia claims, and a top speed of 283 kmh. 0 to 100 should take 5.4 seconds. The British government wanted it banned because it outran every police car imaginable. @frankgoedhart.octane borrowed the car from @visscherclassique and took it to Octane Classics & Coffee to put on display in the super saloon themed paddock. I think @oudmansautos is setting a trend here. This fabulous 2008 Toyota Century 🇯🇵 was brought to Octane Classics & Coffee last weekend by @onblackvince, while Michael is still cruising his through the land of the rising sun. The license plates are so fresh, they're not even mounted yet. I will not make the Yakuza reference, but what a great and sinister saloon. Lovely in blue. I understand the wheels are going to be replaced by original ones, but bigger. Under the bonnet resides a 280 hp 5 litre V12. The pictures are not that great, because of all the people swarming around it constantly, but they will have to do. Nose to nose with the 404 in the wilderness from a while ago is this 1978 Opel Kadett 🇩🇪 to honour #teutonictuesday. There's a badge on the front fender, but I can't read it. Should have focused on that when I was there. Apparently it changed owners last September, but doesn't have a valid APK since October 2016. This green 1965 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE 🇩🇪, as seen at yesterday's Octane Classics & Coffee, is really something. Love the white steering wheel. And the colour, obviously. In the street where my daughter lives I parked in front of this 2003 Peugeot 406 Coupé 🇫🇷 with a 138 hp 2 litre 4-cylinder engine. The Pininfarina design could use a more jolly colour if you ask me, like bleu de chine or something, but still charming. On pictures 7 and 8 you can see a lovely Saab 9³ X 🇸🇪 or whatever passing. About seven and a half minutes earlier I was driving in front of that same Saab, but then I lost it when it took a right turn (and I didn't). I would have gladly parked the Jaguar next to that one as well, so I had something for #wannabesuvweek next week. I guess it wasn't meant to be. This super practical 2020 Audi RS6 Avant Quattro 🇩🇪 is so not my Tasse Tee, but at the same time I can't help thinking it's quite an impressive beast. Is this what the youngsters these days call a 'guilty pleasure'? I mean, I did waste my precious time parking the Jaguar next to it, despite its monstrous vulgarity. Under the bonnet we find a 600 hp 4 litre V8. Top speed is limited to 250 kmh - or so I assume - and 0 to 100 takes 3.6 seconds. Apparently it's a hybrid  - although it only charges while driving - so we know for a fact the owner purchased it solely with the climate in mind. Old Volvos never die, or so it says on the back of this 1995 Volvo 960 2.5 24V Estate 🇸🇪. Is that so? I do know one of three Volvos I used to own has definitely deceased, but at least it lives on in my heart. Anyway. The 960 Estate - V90 as from 1997 - was the most serious contender to replace my V70 before the idea of switching to Jaguar was born. To be honest I still would like to own one, some day. The last couple of years I've seen this 1963 Peugeot 404 🇫🇷 a few times from afar when driving by, seemingly unreachable, but this time I tried to get near it. It wasn't easy, took some precision manoeuvring back and forth, but as you can clearly see, I succeeded. Makes me kind of happy, is that silly? It's not on what you'd call a paved and public road. Couldn't get out of there after, so I had to leave the Jaguar, stranded in the wilderness, to return to civilization on foot. (Just kidding.) There where other cool cars around, like the Niva and the W116 in the backdrop of picture 3, alas I didn't have time for all that, but this two-tone 404 with the sporty exhaust was the grand prize as far as I'm concerned. It even has the beautiful white dash and steering wheel, like the '64 I used to drive. Good times. Mine didn't have a sunroof though. This one doesn't look too bad, considering how long it's been sitting there, in the middle of nowhere. The big fat 2002 BMW 735i 🇩🇪 next to the Jaguar is registered simply as a BMW 7er Reihe. It's fitted with a 272 hp 3.6 litre V8 and all sorts of Alpina features, at least, that's what I think, I don't know my Bimmers that well. It does say Alpina on the centre caps. This is a very cool 1978 Chevrolet Caprice 🇺🇲, a good example of a car that MUST have white walls (sorry not sorry). The license plates suggest it's sold new in The Netherlands, so that makes it even cooler. And it looks so good, I really love it. It's a Caprice III, fitted with a V8. Could be a 267 cu (4.4 litre), 305 cu (5 litre) or 350 cu (5.7 litre) small-block, or maybe a 307 cu Oldsmobile.
