The year is 98’ and the duo Cydal is out with their first and only studio album «Cydalwayz»! These guys deliver mob music in its purest form and can represent the Bay Area with their heads held high. They’ve been guests on a number of solid projects from other legends of the game from this part of California, but finally it was their turn to own the spotlight. An Oakland / Bay Area classic for me and finally available on vinyl - Cydal’s 1998 album Cydalwayz. Cydal was a rap group consisting of Tamarr “T-Luni” Holloway and the late Erick “Eclipze” Carson. They only released one album - this one one on Swerve Records / Handle Bar Records - before Eclipze passed away in 2000. The production is handled by an all-star line up of Bosko, Daz Dillinger, Soopafly, Lev Berlak, The Gov, The Whole 9, Alonzo Jackson, Doug Rasheed and Ali Malek. Features from Luniz, 3X Krazy, Richie Rich, Swoop G and Adina Howard. A Mobb Music classic and a must have for any 90’s Bay Area fan. Cydal - "Hollywood" from Sex, Money & Cydal (promo cassette) (1997) First off: RIP Eklipze Nice rarity, but I know there are other copies of this out in the wild since it's professionally reproduced by East West Records and included promo items on the packaging. If you have it, post it! Miscellaneous notes: (1) Sex, Money & Cydal never got its major label release on East West as planned. Instead, a modified version was released as Cydalwayz on an indie label (Swerve Records). (2) Packaged in a cardboard sleeve with two promo matchbooks tapes to it. (3) This promo cassette has logos for East West Records, C-Note Records, Handle Bar Records, and House Reps Management, but other cassette promos released for Sex, Money & Cydal only have the East West Records logo. Track Notes: (1) "Intro" is used as "Outro" on Cydalwayz. (2) Other East West cassette promos list "Making My Living (By Any Means)" as "Make My Livin' (By Any Means)" or "Make My Livin'" which is how it is listed on Cydalwayz. (3) "No Love, Just Love" is actually not on the promo cassette even though it's printed on the shell. Other East West cassette promos list it as "No Love, Just Lust" which is how it is listed on Cydalwayz. (4) "Curiosity (Meet Me Half Way)" is listed as "Curiosity" on Cydalwayz. (5) I believe "Hollywood Skit" was added to the beginning of "Hollywood" on Cydalwayz instead of being a separate track. (6) The original version of "Hollywood" is in between "Hollywood Skit" and "Hollywood Remix" featuring Luniz, but is not printed on the shell. "Hollywood Remix" is listed as "Hollywood" on Cydalwayz. Sorry for the lengthy post (I blame my past as a writer), but I figure any extra info I can add to these posts is worth it and might be of interest to someone.
