Another day and another car #rescuedfromthefrench with this now dutch Citroën CX 25 Prestige Turbo 2, the last time I saw one it was at the Retromobile but I'll never though I'll see one out in the wild. It comes with an inline 4 cylinder petrol engine of 168hp giving it a max speed of 220kmh. With only 1190 units made, this version was longer than the usual one. Citroën CX 25 Prestige Turbo 🖤 Produite en seulement 1190 exemplaires ! La CX Prestige est une version plus luxueuse et rallongée de la CX. Rapidement, la puissance évolue : moteur 2.4 de 115 ch en 1976, injection avec la GTI en 1977 (128 ch), cylindrée portée à 2,5 l en 1983 (138 ch), puis en 1984, l'apothéose commence. Loin d'être dépassée malgré ses 10 ans, la grande Citroën reçoit sous son capot un turbo, alors très à la mode. Avec 168 ch, elle pointe à 220 km/h et tient la dragée haute à des concurrentes nommées BMW 528i, Mercedes 280 E, Audi 200 Turbo, ou Renault 25 V6 Turbo, qu'elle domine encore et toujours par son comportement routier. Et l'arrivée de l'ABS en 1985 (elle est la première française à le recevoir) renforce la supériorité de la CX. Restylée en juillet de cette année, elle adopte un échangeur en 1986, qui abaisse sa consommation (GTI Turbo 2), tandis qu'avec la nouvelle carrosserie, la Prestige adopte elle aussi la suralimentation, devenant la Citroën la plus chère. La GTI Turbo a été produite à 12 192 exemplaires, la Prestige Turbo à seulement 1 190 unités. Ces autos demeurent de redoutables autoroutières, sûres, performantes et confortables, surtout la Prestige. La version ci dessus est une CX Prestige Turbo produite en 1985 étant donné qu’elle est dotée de l’ABS et qu’elle n’a pas d’échangeur. La #citroencx est présentée en août 1974 pour remplacer la #citroends lancée presque 20 ans auparavant et commençant à sembler vraiment démodée. Lancée avec les moteurs de la DS à peine revus, la #cx évolue progressivement tout au long de sa carrière avec un nouveau moteur 2 litres PSA-Renault, un #diesel 2.2, porté à 2.5, puis doté d'un turbo tandis que la version "injection" de 2.4 évolue à 2.5, puis se munit d'un turbo, etc... Côté carrosserie aussi, la CX évolue, avec deux variantes à empattement long, le break et la Prestige. Ces deux variantes sont rallongées de 25cm, faisant passer la CX de 4m66 à 4m91. La première version de la #cxprestige est lancée en juillet 75 puis évolue elle aussi. En août 77, le toit est réhaussé de quelques centimètres. Puis en 1979, la caisse de la Prestige reçoit le moteur Diesel 2.5 de 75ch sous l'appellation #cxlimousine avec un équipement plus proche de la Pallas que de la Prestige. Enfin, pour le millésime 84, la Limousine adopte le moteur turbo de 95ch (permettant une vitesse de 174km/h contre à peine 145/150 avec le diesel atmo) tandis que la Prestige gagne quelques cm3 pour atteindre 2500 cm3 tout rond. Ce nouveau moteur de 138ch est disponible dans la CX 25IE Pallas, la #CX25Prestige, la CX 25 TRI break en 12CV ainsi que dans la #CX25GTi en 13CV avec une boîte plus courte donnant 210km/h en 5ème, contre 200km/h pour les autres berlines et 194km/h pour le break. Une 25RI plus dépouillée viendra par la suite. En 1987, cette Prestige est disponible en atmosphérique automatique (180.300F) ou avec le top du top de la gamme CX, la Prestige Turbo de 168ch à boîte manuelle (198.500F). La concurrence est assez réduite en France puisque la 505 V6 de 153ch, bien plus courte est à 145.800F et chez Renault, les modernes R25 V6 sont à 151.500F en 153ch ou 197.600F en 182ch. A l'étranger, on trouve également quelques beaux modèles, souvent plus modernes mais moins exclusifs tels que l'Audi 100 CD (138ch, 151KF), la 525i (150ch, 151KF), la Scorpio Ghia 4x4 (145ch, 185KF), la Thema 6V (150ch, 154KF), la 230E (136ch, 173KF) ou la Senator CD (136ch, 153KF). #citroen #citroenclassic #youngtimer #citroencxprestige #cxgtiturbo #cxturbo
