💙BOOK REVIEW💚 After every @miasheridanauthor book I read, I always have to take a few minutes to just sit and recap on how incredible but sad I’m feeling since the story has come to an end. And this one is no different. 🪶🦋🪶🦋🪶🦋🪶 Calder & Eden’s story has left me in complete awe and wanting more (even though it wrapped up beautifully) ****************************************************** In this story we follow Calder & Eden, who grow up unknowingly in a cult called Acadia with a leader named Hector, who believes in a Greek mythology prophecy of a great flood that is yet to come. Calder & Eden meet at around 10 years old becoming instant friends and we get to watch them grow up and fall in love. Problem is, Eden is Hector’s chosen bride as soon as she turns 18. The obstacles Calder & Eden have to overcome in order to be together will have your heart leaping out of your chest page after page until the very end. #BookReview of Bunny, by Mona Awad #Bunny was undoubtedly my best read in March. The first time I think I came to know about it was through bookstagram. I saw a post somewhere with the stunning cover of this particular book shining out. Intrigued, I did some research to know more about this book - its synopsis and especially, what was the general consensus about it. Suffice it to say, I was hooked and I spent the next couple of months trying to get it for myself. I couldn’t find it in offline bookstores and its price on Amazon was a whopping 900 rupees! So I waited and waited. Until the World Book Fair 2023, held in Delhi, where I finally got a copy of this book at a more reasonable price from the @bloomsburyindia stall. Little did I know what a ride I was in for! Bunny is the perfect blend of dark academia, psychological horror and fever dream of a book. It gives you everything: if you were never a popular kid back in school/uni, then a chance to sneer at the popular girl gang; a look at what dark academia can be in a contemporary setting with an exclusive all-female cohort; and also a chance to imagine what a perfect man for you would be *wink* On a serious note, it does make you think in binaries: being lonely or being a part of a group, and then it makes you think beyond the boundaries: being lonely even if you have “friends”. What is normal? What isn’t? Again, as is the DA formula, we have the outsider: Samantha, and the elite group of Bunnies: the four girls who call each other Bunny and refer to themselves as “we” - thus giving us a very obvious representation of the us and them. In terms of their creative power as well, until Samantha is a member, her works are seen as outside of the accepted boundaries: angry and mean. The crazy starts a bit late. But when it does start, what a cult-like experience! But when you’re part of socially accepted, fawned over, well-dressed and rich girls, easily catering to the male-gaze, will you too question the red flags before entering said cult? I for one, kind of predicted some of the things (please check out my Youtube reading vlog), and yet, I was not prepared for where this book took me! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ without a doubt!
