I’ll never forget buying it and thinking about how my life was going to be one that would be filled with endless opportunities to wear it. I’ve worn it maybe 3 times. But never got rid of it. It has followed me through all my moves, and hung in my closet witnesses a lot of life in the last 23 years. So when I learned that the gala I was attending to support the amazing Theresa Irving, an force for good and an invaluable part of @wearewarriorrising , a fantastic charity benefiting veteran entrepreneurs, was a themed one- Nashville Nights- I smiled- I could make this dress work. And I could pull out the cowboy boots my grandma bought all of us grandkids around the same time. My outfit was over 20 years old, both items having sat in my closet never being used and then in one night they both make their debut (I got many comments about my ‘vintage’ dress which was fun to realize things I bought new are now considered vintage… age sneaks up on you!) As I left for the night, I couldn’t help but take a moment and reflect on how there is no way in heck 18 year old Becky would have guessed that my life would be what it is today and not that of a big city trial lawyer like I had thought at the time. But what makes me smile even more is knowing that I’ll have no idea what life will look like even a year from now, but as long as I continue to be surrounded by so many incredible people like I get to be now- I know it’ll be a good life. Big thanks to Ree Medical for being a company that believes in values not living on the walls but in their actions and going above and beyond to support veterans! This isn’t a pretty photo- but it still deserves our attention. More than 8 million tons of plastic ends up dumped into our oceans every year. This same plastic eventually breaks down into microplastic and finds its way back to us. As a company we feel a huge weight of responsibility to not only package our products in the safest way possible but also in the most responsible way. Our Earth Month beach cleanup is underway! Together, @earthanimal1979 and @ferapets are funding a beach clean-up and education sessions on plastics in the community of Buenaventura, Colombia through our partnership with @repurpose_global. So far, we’ve had a group of 50 volunteers, all members of the communities of Juanchaco and La Barra assisting in the cleanup. Because of the remote nature of these communities, it’s difficult to take waste to the cities of Buenaventura and Cali, so it’s often burned instead. But this time, everything will be sent to recycling infrastructures, with the first boat of waste leaving yesterday. Follow along throughout April as we share updates on our progress towards a goal of 30,000 pounds of plastic waste recovered!

10 years ago an amazing woman reached out to me about our programs for her own children to give back and volunteer. This family truly wanted to be part of our mission. She created an inaugural golf tournament on behalf of our organization with @kohanaiki_life Year after year the residents participate in this fun annual event and raise funds for various nonprofits on big island. Ah, BREAD…not even sure where to begin…or how not to make this post a novel…but I’m going to try. First, I am Italian-American. Bread & pasta were central to my life. NOBODY jumped on my mother’s fresh-baked bread-y creations (including muffins, rolls, etc.) when they came out of the oven like ME…always with a knife and butter at the ready. Then, as many of you know, my health completely crashed in 2011. When none of the 15+ doctors helped me I took matters into my own hands. Through my research I decided to change my diet immediately…I dropped Gluten, Dairy, & Sugar (even fruit & starchy vegetables) cold turkey and went 100% organic. I can’t even tell you the difference this made…and VERY quickly (after a nasty “die-off” process of feeling worse for a bit). The only problem was that because I had been so terrifyingly ill (with an endless list of symptoms, perhaps most troubling being that I couldn’t digest my food, leaving me unable to stop the rapid weight-loss & weakness that we feared might end me) that my brain & nervous system connected me eating “perfectly” with my survival. This lead to a lesser known eating disorder: Orthorexia, or an obsession with eating healthy. Not only is there a mental component to work your way through with this, but also a very real physical one, because with a prolonged lack of food diversity you lose certain gut bacteria, and with them the ability to digest entire categories of food…and of course this can leave you nutrient deficient, too. I am grateful that I have slowly but surely expanded what I eat, but BREAD was always a holdout because the quality of grains is just not something you can mess around with when it comes to autoimmunity/gut issues/inflammation. As much as I LOVED it, it just wasn’t worth it to me to take a chance…plus, the options just didn’t look that appealing to me. UNTIL I DISCOVERED @wildyeast_vt!!! As soon as I heard about them I went to the website and started reading…first, with the “About Us” page, of course. 🍞CONTINUED👇🏼
