Arriving at my number one bucket list destination… only to find out we can’t see a thing 💔 This was the biggest disappointment of the entire year of travel 😣 Driving 2500 kms only to find the Grand Canyon 100% covered by thick fog 🌫️😶🌫️ I held onto optimism at first, hoping the fog would dissipate by midday (we arrived at sunrise) 🌅 However, we met other hikers who had been at the Grand Canyon for 2 days and still hadn’t seen anything 😭 My initial thought was to adjust our travel plans to stay overnight and try our luck the next day 🏨, but the weather forecast wasn’t promising, and our schedule already required over 4 hours of driving each day to make our next flight ✈️ So, we decided to spend the day in the National Park and hope for at least a hazy Canyon view🤞🌁 That’s not the end of the story, but I’ll post it later 😇 #disappointment #foggyday #bucketlistfail #weatherwoes #travelregrets #foggyview #grandcanyon #grandcanyonhike #hiking #hikinggirl #snowydays #usroadtrip #usatour #winterhike #exploreamerica #usatravel #naturephotography #explorearizona #travelusa #adventureawaits #snowymountains #wintervibes #snowingrandcanyon #snowygrandcanyon🧤
오로라. Aurora. 버킷리스트 중 하나. 캐나다 유콘, 화이트 호스. Marsh lake. 옐로우 스톤에서 접근할 수 있는 lodge를 예약했었는데 lodge가 코로나로 문을 닫았다가 재오픈 등으로 어찌어찌 해서 이 쪽으로 오게 된다. 여기 와 보니 northern light라고 부르네. 부푼 마음과 큰 기대감을 가지고 영접하기를 기대했으나 결론적으로는 버킷리스트 달성 실패. 예측 앱 에서 알려주는 것은 심하게 틀려나가고 랜덤이다. 운이 좀 좋아야 한다. Northern light를 많이 배웠고 weak aurora는 보고 찍었다. 사진은 좀 더 그럴듯하게 나오긴 한다. 화이트호스가 요즘 조금씩 알려지고 있다고 하는데, 종합적으로 오로라 헌팅으로는 비추한다. 캐나다 북위 60도 이상 준주(테러토리) 여행으로는 매우 좋다. 오로라 버킷리스트는 몇년 안에 재도전. #northernlights #aurora #bucketlistfail

T H E A F T E R M A R T H Following on from our last post - we made it through the red river at Giralia, back on the black top and finally got to the whaleshark boat depot with 5 mins to spare!!... (and we are never early for things🙃🤭) we felt this was a huge victory given the red mud river we had navigated to get to our destination... vibes were high.... but those vibes were soon smashed with the news that followed 5 mins later - our whaleshark tour had been cancelled due to the bad weather!! Every time I think I’ve “gotten right” with not being able to reach the ocean, I realize I’m not. My dying body CRAVES the power, awe and beauty of the ocean and the healing winds. Some days I wake up thinking, “today is the day I make my way to the ocean,” but just getting up and ready for the day takes all the energy needed to pack up and go. When I moved to the midrise overlooking the most beautiful St. Louis view one could possibly wish for, I decided I’d never again live between a high rise and an open piece of land. I ended up moving back to my home town to care for my aging parents, where I have since remained (in spite of marrying a man with his own house, but that’s a novel in and of itself). I’m basically, on a forest floor with very little view of the sky, and certainly no access to a large body of water. I feel like an animal in a cage, and since I’m the only one involved who’s been given an estimated date of demise, I figure no one could possibly understand it. The plague made sure I would never travel again, and that’s just the way it has to be. I’ve done a lot of work to make sure I die a happy, peaceful death with NO MEDS, surgeries, procedures, chemo, radiation or doctor appointments. I’m still so glad I made the decision to die naturally, and I’m grateful to have had the time to find peace in dying. But my bucket list had ONE thing on it. The Beach. It really is something to celebrate! I was asked today when the last time I celebrated my own amazingness. *uhh* I wonder if meditation and gratitude sessions count?! Otherwise. It’s been a while. Maybe at my last birthday? Hmmmm. My last birthday... I’ll be honest that was lame! It was my 40th Birthday!!! All of my bucket list items, didn’t happen. I wanted to do a cake smash shoot for me! I wanted to get all dressed up and have Martinelli’s a cute cake and those gold Number balloons. Never happened. I did however try to through myself a party. 2 people came, aside from my family, and 1 was only stopping by to get some nails. My parties have never been “off the hook” no matter how many people I invited or party prep. For my 40th birthday party, I thought for sure I’d have a big Bash. But I guess I had those around me that I love most in this world- and that is definitely something to celebrate.
