🎤@broadtreemusic MUSIC "We love writing songs that tell a very vivid story. We began writing during the plague, so often our songs start from a rather depressing place, but we always strive to insert a ray of hope into each one. We recorded our debut album at a cottage in the woods way up north in February! The power went out and we had to barbecue outside in the snow in -25 degree weather for supper. Because we released the album during the plague, we had to wait a while before we were able to perform live. When we finally did, one of our first performances was on a corner platform behind plexiglass for COVID protection. People on the other side of the glass were staring at us and eating french fries - it felt a bit like being a zoo animal! The single we released in January, “Inevitable”, was on the Canadian Indie Country charts for 14 weeks, breaking the top 15! Before that, we released our second major single and celebrated by going on tour - which happened to time out perfectly between lockdowns! Which brings us to today! Our current single is a song called “You Only Miss Me Cause I’m Gone”. It’s a fun summer anthem about female empowerment, that really hits that country sound, while still having our theatre antics be a part. It’s our strongest release and really focuses on knowing your worth, standing up for yourself for anyone who’s had someone do them wrong. It’s a really entertaining, upbeat, and catchy song we released in time for summer. Since joining the country music community, we have been so inspired by the Canadian indie up and-comers here in Canada. We all support each other, it feels a bit like a big family. There were a host of waterfalls on my most recent hike in South Cumberland State Park. Be prepared to take a few steep descents if you decide to go. But any energy you use to access the falls will be well worth it. The Greeter Falls Loop Trail includes two major waterfalls, Greeter and Broadtree. But there are smaller falls above and below the major ones on Firescald Creek that you will want to see. So, take the time to hike the various trails that branch off the loop. Most of the falls are well marked, but you also can discover a few surprises if you are daring enough. A sturdy stick is great for maneuvering on the steeper sections of path, but there are also plenty of jutting rocks and small trees to grab hold of.
