An incredible weekend for Topcats Racing in the 2nd round of GT Cup at Brands Hatch GP! Not least OVER ALL pole from Tom Rawlings, ahead of the top classed GT3’s and GTO cars that should in theory have claimed it. To further hammer home dominance he took a ‘lights to flag’ win unchallenged and fastest lap. A further win in the afternoon in the endurance race between Tom and Charlotte rounded a hugely impressive day. Sunday promised more success and the first of the two races of the day, the endurance race shared between Tom and Charlotte again earned them yet another P1. The only disappointment of the weekend was Charlotte’s spin while leading the race late on in the final sprint race of the weekend dropping her to 4th. Warren was close behind and he took the win in the end. Thank you to the team for preparing two brilliant cars that could deliver such fantastic results. Another big weekend in prospect! #BritishGT makes the first of two visits to Donington Park when 38 cars tackle the championship’s second – and final – three-hour endurance race of the season. Round 4 comes hot on the heels of the #Silverstone500 where victory propelled Shaun Balfe and Adam Smalley to the top of GT3’s overall standings, while Jack Brown and Zac Meakin are in hot pursuit of GT4 leaders Mikey Porter and Jamie Day after winning their class last time out. The 38 cars – split 20/18 in GT3’s favour – represent all 36 full-season entries plus two more race-by-race contenders, both of which are also eligible to score points. Just like Silverstone, the 180-minute, 3x pitstop format presents strategic opportunities unavailable in one and two-hour races. Swapping drivers after just one lap is not uncommon in the right conditions, which can lead to jumbled up races that keep fans guessing right up until the closing stages. 2023 GT4 title contender DTO Motorsport makes its British GT return at Donington Park this weekend with Freddie Tomlinson and Stuart Middleton. The pair raced with French Ginetta specialist CMR at Silverstone and are now moving across to DTO for three further outings with the same G56 GT4 Evo at Spa and both Donington rounds. The team made an instant impression during its series debut last year by challenging for the GT4 drivers’ crown with Josh Rowledge and Aston Millar. The pair were one of six crews still vying for the title at the season finale before ultimately finishing fifth overall and third in Pro-Am. DTO originally intended to spend 2024 focusing on the one-make McLaren Trophy but snapped up the chance to re-join British GT4 with race winners Tomlinson and Middleton when the opportunity arose. “We are excited to be back on the grid with British GT in the Ginetta G56 GT4 Evo,” said DTO founder, Mike Jordan. “The Evo is looking great for this season and represents a significant upgrade on the previous car.
