In 1871, Moore County was created from land taken from multiple surrounding counties but prior to this, the Jack Daniel Distillery resided on land belonging to Lincoln County. Jack was a life long bachelor and had many ladies in his life. In the late 1800s, he created a bottle and brand called the Belle of Lincoln County for the ladies. It's said that he even designed the Belle decanter to have the curves of a lady's body. The brand ended shortly after Jack's death and many woman claimed to be Jack's Belle. In the 80s, when you registered your Jack Daniel's commemorative bottles with the distillery, they would send you a very nice certificate signed by the distillery's Master Taster and Master Distiller along with a letter telling you about the commemorative bottle. #story time My father who passed away in 99 was a huge #jackdaniels connoisseur , and back in the late 70s he wrote them inquiring about the Belle of Lincoln. The company wrote him back and sent some very amazing labels back. They are currently on the way to my possession, and I couldn't be more honored. I can't wait to frame them with a picture of my father and hang it in my own little jack bar. In the 1890's, Jack Daniel released a brand new whiskey called Belle of Lincoln County. Jack created a commemorative bottle for this new brand of whiskey and it would become known as the Belle Bottle. The few bottles that were made, were given as gifts and it was never mass produced. Jack never married but was quite the lady's man. Rumor is, the Belle of Lincoln was named after a certain special lady of his and the shape of the bottle represents the female figure. They were later used again for bottling for the 1st time in over 100 years when the 1st of the Legacy bottles were released in 2018. Out today doing some shopping and stopped into Stan and Joe’s Saloon for beer and a sandwich. My eye was caught by this little decoration, a piece of an old whiskey barrel adorned in Jack Daniel’s labels. Notable here because of that sweet Belle of Lincoln label. Belle of Lincoln was among the earliest names Jack Daniel used to sell his bourbon. It is pre-prohibition and extremely rare. It’s also Indy’s poison of choice in the Cairo bar in Raiders. Curiously the bottle in the film does not match historical bottles, which suggests perhaps the prop department found a label they liked and fashioned their own bottle. Also peep that sweet Wested Crusade Hero jacket.
