The final set from my final day in San Diego before leaving forever. Early-Mid March. Day 22 of Daily Portrait Series: Gloomy Pre-“May Gray” The Gloomy couldn’t keep me from the waves today! 🌊 Headed to Tourmaline Surf Park and snapped some pics of my surf buddies Priscilla and Sush. I’ve known Priscilla for about 2 years now - she’s easy to spot in the water with her terracotta wetsuit and 9-foot performance longboard. She loves to catch waves way outside and gracefully glide all the way to shore. Sush is another artist in our Tourmaline crew - you may have seen her solo shots in my previous posts. She likes to shred the inside waves on her midlength board with such elegance. Sush’s main medium is print art, so be sure to check out her awesome work! 📍Jacumba Hot Springs & Hotel About an hour outside of San Diego is the most beautiful and relaxing hot springs hotel! The mineral pools are amazing as well as the bar and restaurant in the hotel. It is small, about 20 rooms and varies from $110-$700/ night depending on the room and it is worth it. There is a private mineral pool for those staying in the hotel and a separate pool for those buying a day pass, which is $45. The restaurant is incredible and we both got the Fried Chicken Sandwich and fell in love ❤️ I also got the Moon of the Religion cocktail which was refreshing and very well made. Having struggled with some knee pain the last couple weeks, I did a shorter training hike today, a 12 mile loop in Mt Laguna with 1200 feet of elevation gain at Big Laguna Trail and Sunset Trail Loop. Thank God my knee felt good so I’m confident I can get back on track and ready for the longer hikes. It was a beautiful day and hardly saw anyone on the trail! Just listening to nature was so tranquil (oh and listening to me breathing hard on the inclines I’m still shy of my fundraising goal with a month to go before the 28 mile hike.
