We decided to do a little PNW roadtrip for spring break- flew into Seattle, drove to Portland for a night, then headed out to the Oregon coast for the next couple days before heading back up to WA to see family 🌲 The Oregon coast is truly unlike any place I’ve seen- it is breathtaking here!!! Are you looking for a wheelchair accessible yurt to stay in, with wheelchair accessible restrooms close by? Give Beverly Beach State Park in Newport, Oregon a try! Being in a wheelchair myself, I could not have found a better place to for a weekend getaway! The restrooms are wheelchair accessible, and you don’t have to go far to get to them. That is a BIG plus! The campground is beautifully paved all throughout, and there is a ramp leading to the entrance of an ADA yurt. So nice to be have that independence! There’s a nicely paved trail along Otter Rock, and a ramp to make it possible to actually get onto the beach! Beverly Beach State Park is definitely my new #1 favorite vacation spot! So easy to get around. So peaceful. We had deer in the woods behind our yurt, which I really loved! The Marine Reserves Bill (HB 4132) just passed through the Senate and is off to the governor’s desk! Thank you for showing support for Oregon's marine ecosystems, wildlife, and coastal communities! “This bill will fully fund and strengthen Oregon’s Marine Reserve Program, including better understanding how people use and benefit from these underwater places, engaging with local communities, and developing scientifically based goals specific to each of the marine reserves,” said Joe Liebezeit, Assistant Director of Statewide Conservation, Bird Alliance of Oregon. Marine reserves are dedicated areas in Oregon's coastal waters for conserving marine habitats and biodiversity and scientific research. All removal of marine life and ocean development are prohibited. Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) are adjacent to the reserves and allow some fishing activities but still prohibit ocean development. Black Stream Boardworks Logo Design ~ Adobe Illustrator 🔥🦎 (**Note: this is a mock-up Surfboard in Photoshop, not a Blackstream Board **) 🏄♀️ @blackstreamboardworks was looking for an updated logo for their board shaping business. The logo is applied directly to the board and needs to be instantly recognizable from far away. 🏄♂️ To start, I sketched out many different versions and layouts for the logo. I met with the client again and we discussed the various mockups. They gravitated towards the Salamander enclosed within flames and the circles. 🏄♂️ I brought this sketch into Adobe Illustrator and worked to simplify the design further. The solution was to turn the flames black and having the Salamander be the negative space in the middle. The high contrast of the salamander against the flame creates a clear image that can be recognized from all the way down the beach. The two circles with the company name is a wink to the family crest without being overwrought. The final logo design is a sleek and minimalist version of a salamander in flames. I retained the elements that the client wanted, while pairing it down to a recognizable logo. The client has two versions which allows him to have flexibility with laying out his logo on his boards.
