I can’t think of a finer way to kick off the season than taking a road trip down to Lake Ontario. This past weekend, the road trip season began for the Hardknox Kayak Fishing 3rd Annual Pike meeting at Cherry Beach. Most people know that I’m a car-camping kinda of dude. I just love the simplicity of car camping and the ability to launch with ease. I’ve done it so many times, it’s just routine, and I’ve got it down to science. I’m a tall guy and my journey offers the perfect amount of space with all my gear. In past years when I came to this meeting I brought my Jackson Kayak Liska with me, but this year was different. Don’t worry, my Liska “River Run” is itching to catch smallies on the river. I brought my Playa “Small Jaw” Bite Fd. To be honest, I’ve been waiting since my last visit to Lake Ontario to pedal the Bite Fd. The Flex Drive Mark 4 is on the top of its game and with those new blue pedals, I was cruising along. I had one minor setback with my electronics, but I didn’t let that slow me down. I love road trip weekends with my Jackson Kayak Bite Fd and, of course, great friends and making new friends. The veil One cold morning, I walked between light and shadows, engulfed in a sad veil of reflection. As I approached the Pier, the veil that covered my eyes parted and I could see some souls that were lost in an instant, looking for respite. I felt my soul connecting with all those souls and reflected about all the small moments of our daily lives, so many of them turned into nothing and disappearing without a trace. My melancholic soul thought about this moment in particular, a memory that may provide curiosity decades into the future or just may fade away. So many unresolved questions... Will people understand the feeling captured in this instant? Will our soul who by then will be lost in travels, remember? Will our collective memory fade away? I looked down with teary eyes, somewhat confused and felt the need to use my trusty Lumix G95 and record this instant, hoping that those souls and my own can keep a memory that hopefully will live forever... only time will tell. Miasto jest mocno nastawione na turystykę i jak tylko się ociepli na jeziorach będzie widać wielu amatorów sportów wodnych. Więcej zwiedzamy w weekendy ponieważ odległości między miastami są ogromne. Kanada pod względem wielkości jest drugim na świecie krajem, a mieszkańców w przybliżeniu ma tylu co Polska. Najwięcej ludzi mieszka w dużych miastach, a pomiędzy nimi są wielkie połacie niezagospodarowanej ziemi oraz parki ì lasy. Kanada to stosunkowo młody kraj bo oficjalnie jako państwo istnieje od 150 lat z małym haczykiem 😍 Wcześniej przez lata był zamieszkany przez rodowitych i rdzennych mieszkańców jakimi byli Indianie z różnych szczepów. The subject of my first article for a national magazine over 30 years ago focused on lake trout on a fly. Even though much of the current Great Lakes salmonid fishery has been developed with transplants, the lake trout is one of the region’s native fishes.
