🥣do you also love cooking? when people asked me these, they followed up with, "so do you also love baking?" unfortunately, I can't really bake :( but lately, I've been so intrigued to try it after watching a lot of Fake or Cake challenges on YT. I am not an artist but my sister is! I got in touch with my soul this weekend in lake Travis. It was my first try at doing something alone. I lounged around, took some sweet pics that I really wanted to share, and floated in the middle of the lake on my paddle board with the tips of my fingers in the water. Today is National Ukulele Day! 🤙🏼 This year, one of my goals is to learn some new skills / try a new hobby. I have decided that I am finally going to actually learn how to play this beautiful handcrafted instrument that is native to my father’s home. This ukulele was handcrafted and carved by a local Hawaiian artist, in which I was able to meet & purchase from while living on island. But to me it is more than an instrument. I purchased this ukulele with a friend that I truly cherish & miss greatly. STRUGGLING WITH BOREDOM 🌙 • I’ve been struggling with boredom for quite some time now. Which isn’t all that strange, giving the fact I’ve been stuck at home for a few years now. In the beginning I didn’t really mind all that much, but being on medication that gave me severe brainfog made it that way. I’m not on those meds anymore, and my brainfog therefore lessened a whole lot. • When my brainfog left, I noticed myself craving for mind occupation. I need to keep my brain busy, or otherwise I do experience some characteristics of depression. And that’s where I am at right now. This year I kept myself busy with courses and learning about autism, but the courses are all done now and although I keep reading up on autism, I notice it’s not enough to entertain my brain in a way that’s giving me that feeling of fulfillment. • I’ve always had trouble with finding a nice hobby, my whole life actually. I tried a whole lot of them, but other than learning and seeking knowledge, nothing has stuck around. I’m bored with them within a week. And then I get back to being bored overall: I get tired, I feel sad and empty and I cry a lot more. I just want to spend the day sleeping, but sleeping too much triggers migraines and isn’t good for my fibromyalgia, so that’s not an option. • And now I’m in a place where I have nothing else to do than to watch tv and scroll around on social media. And it definitely isn’t as mentally challenging as doing a hobby, but even my special interests aren’t working out right now. I feel like I’m in limbo and I hate it. • I just took a methylphenidate, in the hopes it will get me going or at least it will motivate me to search for something to do. It sort of worked, since I now have the inspiration to write this all out. I hope it will give me the executive functioning so that I can maybe clean out my fridge or fold my laundry, because when I’m in a mood like this (bored), nothing comes out of my hands. • Continued in comments ⬇️
