Six years ago i ran my first half marathon. And that’s where this whole crazy bodybuilding thing began. I get asked a lot how long i’ve been lifting, or how i got into it. This was my first step. I was a yo-yo exerciser growing up. Obsessed with cardio in high school, peak eating disorder days. Occasional lifting in college, but always looking for the quick fix. gained a lot of weight at the end of my college career, and continued to do so in my first year post-grad. My favorite clothes stopped fitting. I looked back at photos and picked apart every piece of me that appeared overweight. I was constantly taking a hundred pics trying whatever angle made me look smallest. My sister asked me to run the Pittsburgh Half Marathon with her in 2018, and i jumped at the opportunity to have something to work towards to keep me consistent. Truly, i never thought i’d actually cross the finish line. But i did! And continued to run another the following year. I loved the transformation i was seeing, but running just wasn’t my thing. I started slowly incorporating weights to my routine, taking all my dumbbells to a corner in the gym, away from other people. I bought some influencer’s booty guide and really only trained legs. Eventually, i started meeting people at the gym who were part of the bodybuilding world. They encouraged me, gave me tips, and taught me things about the gym and my nutrition that i didn’t know. I learned to track macros, stop neglecting muscle groups in the gym, and overall how to make this a lifestyle. After i felt like i had these basics down, i was in love with the gym but wanted a goal to work towards. And this is where bodybuilding and competing entered the chat. Six years later and i can’t imagine ever going back. I love this lifestyle. Even on the hard days. So thanks Pittsburgh Marathon, & thanks to my sister for making me believe in myself for those first ever 13.1 miles. Truly changed my life 🙏🏼

less than a month apart - bodies are so cool 🤯 first few weeks of prep FLEW. down 10 lbs with minimal diet and cardio changes if you know me, you know the next month will be spent road tripping around the country for Cole + 6 days in Canada for work. In the past, I’ve done my preps in the baseball offseason, because this is obviously easier to do when in a stable environment. Prep is already hard, and i never wanted to add to that unnecessarily. A little nervous but a lot excited to see how we progress. The biggest shoutout to @ifbbpro_melissa for dealing with me & my crazy life and having faith in me no matter what 🫶🏼

yeah, i post a lot yeah, it’s kinda repetitive yeah, it’s probably not the most interesting. but that’s okay, bc i was never doing it for anyone else anyway. i’m honestly just so dang proud of how far i’ve come. getting my mental health in check. creating healthy boundaries and fostering healthy relationships. getting over disordered eating and my fear of gaining weight. learning to take care of myself. and creating the habits to actually make this sport a lifestyle. i met my coach in 2020. she sent me this text in 2021. and i think it’s even more true now than back then. and that’s really what i’m here for. just keep growin 🙏🏼
