I haven’t shared any of our @shoopiedoopieshow build in a while! When I last posted the two characters were furless. My wife Ilona @escapeclubcreative and myself covered the two with a couple of different materials. For Doopie (blue charter) we used a combination of a shorter faux fur we found in LA and long shaggy fur from @nftech. The NFT was trimmed and styled to blend in with the faux fur as best as possible. I kept referring to Chewbacca from “The Empire Strikes Back” for Doopie’s bangs. For Shoopie we found a great faux fur again in downtown LA. However it wasn’t the right color. Ilona did a fantastic dye job on that fur. It’s not easy to dye over 20 yards of faux fur but she did it! The two of us worked on patterning out the fur on both characters, machine sewing the bulk of the pieces and then hand sewing the fur skins onto the body forms. More to come! One of the scariest costumes Geppetto Studios ever made. I had to post this now that it is Halloween time. "Honey Monster" was one of the characters for a campaign called "Flavor Monsters". This campaign denounced the use of flavored cigarettes aimed toward children and young adults. Now that the final designs for Shoopie and Doopie were signed off on, it was time to start cutting foam for the hero pieces that would be used for the finished costumes. I’m using here both 1/2” and 3/4” L-300 EVA foam from Atlas Foam in Sylmar, California. While we started the build we also started doing some fabric shopping in the down town Los Angeles fabric district. They have so many fantastic colors and textures there. Those samples were photographed, numbered and then made up into two identical sample packets. One packet stayed with us in the shop and one packet went to the clients. They of course had to have samples in hand in order to make decisions about color and texture. I added in some pretty funky colors that I knew wouldn’t be used, but I also wanted the clients to see what was possible. You never know if it could spark a new idea for perhaps another charter in the future! We also added in a couple samples from @nftech. 9 foot Wicker men stilt-walker costumes we created for Universals holloween horror night’s American horror story maze a few years ago. We used three miles of piping cord to created the illusion of wicker in order to keep them as flexible as possible for performers. Day 16 of @Redthreaded 's #FallForCostume challenge: Trial and Error! I LOVE creature costumes. I love transforming into something non-human. And I enjoy the challenge and process of the prosthetics and body painting. I've done a faun/satyr type costume four times now, and truly enjoy the trial and error learning process! August 2017 I tried wearing prosthetics for the first time. I had no clue what I was doing: did not know how to paint latex, blend edges, or securely bond the appliance to my skin. And lemme tell ya, the sweltering August heat was not a good time to do this. I volunteered at a fantasy faire, and my prosthetic nose and ears kept sliding off my face from the heat! July 2018 I tried again for a shoot with @SubversivePhotography, this time upping the ante: full bodypaint, costume contact lenses, creature stilts! Notice I used the same wig, horns, ears and nose as my first faun, but the costumes look completely different. For the Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade Ball only a month later, I wanted to transform my pink satyr idea even more. I ordered new, bigger ears from @Woochie, and a new brow piece and nose piece from @NorthFurFX. By the time Halloween 2018 came around, I was probably faun-obsessed. I wanted to surprise my coworkers at the office party, and mixed all the elements but with a creepier twist, for my black and teal satyr. I reused various elements from past faun iterations, and added 3-finger creature hands, too. From around 1996-98. This guy showed up at KNB EFX Group and was in need of great repair and a little paint. It’s a latex mask and costume made of latex and polyfoam and belonging to the great Bob Burns. I’m fairly certain it was used in one of his infamous Halloween shows. I did the refurbishing and built the little display stand. And then it went back to Bob. I’m not sure who actually created the original costume. So... Halloween was pretty epic. I finally got to wear my #Demogorgon costume, and people loved it! In case you didn’t know, the Demogorgon is from the series #strangerthings 😀 I had some wardrobe issues, as you can see on the face, but the flash didn’t help - and the tie up solution in the back didn’t quite work as planned - so I’m going to re-do it 🙃 The attention I got this night was insane!!!!!!🤯 Thank you all for the rooting in the costume competition🥳 One downside; turns out the club never picked a winner. Unless they gave them out discreetly. I want to figure it out, and I want to congratulate the winner. After all a lot of us are going there because we want to see the worthy creations 🙌 Otherwise, the party was terribly organized, chaotic, and very few staff, just as the other years, had little or no info to give. Needless to say I found some cool costumes this year. The level is starting to go up amongst the people! Which makes me glad 😃

Some amazing memories made today, at the promo shoot for Bear in the woods, for Away Resorts. Had the honour of watching Aidan Cook push the suit to its limit with his knowledge and stamina from decades of character acting he did a phenomenal job, aided by the also legendary Tim Rose, who created the head mechanics and helmet structure for Bear. If you don't know, these guys credits between them include everything from the original Star wars to the newest, Dark Crystal, Dinosaurs and Hellboy 2, to name just few.
