Decided he deserves his own post just for my own log to see the difference by the end of summer 🤣🙈.. Not only 1 walk to canter bareback... BUT TWO 🤣🙈🤔😱 So no secret to none, rider balance is so important to their way of going and when I got the all clear for oreo to begin work last year I decided I'd do everything I could to make it as easy as possible for him.. and after much deliberation, this also includes sorting my brave head out and starting to do some bareback work with him to mix things up, work on my own seat and balance and get a good feel for his way of going without the effects of a saddle.. I spent years riding event and hunt ponies and horses and getting my ability to the best it had been, then had a year out and got unfit 🤣 however, my muscle memory is not letting me down and I'm slowly getting back to the level I was at 🙈 Can officially say I can canter round bareback 🤣 taken me years to pluck the courage (mainly because every time I tried he put his head between his knees and tried to bronk me overhead 🙈🤣...) but I learnt so much from this 10 minute ride about both him and his weaknesses and my own 🙈 more will definitely be on the table 🤣 .. its not pretty, we only had a few moments of contact and relaxation, but tbh that's probably because I was expecting a bronc 🤦♀️🙈🤷♀️🤣 but we can only go up from here 🤣🥰 - #Oreo #CobXFriesian #WildChild #PartDales #Bareback #BalanceWork

Oh my sweet boy 💖.. - So last week marked one year since oreos first lunge back after his surgery and nearly loosing him 3 times in 4 months.. I'd given up all hope of riding him again and basically just hoped and prayed that he'd pull through even if it meant him being a field ornament for the rest of his life, but once again my little golden boy has defined all the odds 💖 we are no where near as fit or as good as we were 2 years ago... but a super slow year of bringing him back into work, not pushing him and taking everything at pure snail pace allowed me to have possibly one of the best rides I've had on him since being back at it 💖 - Just to be back schooling and hacking is the best feeling, one that I never thought I'd have again and I will always be grateful that he's still here and continues to shine despite everything 🥰 so enjoy some photos including out first little sign of some mediums coming out!! Hey everyone, so I think to start we should probably introduce you to our team of 4 legged babies who will be the faces of E&H 😁 - Post 2/9 - Oreo - Meet Oreo is our 14.1hh Friesian X Cob blue eyed boy and is classed as the yard clown!🤡. He will never fail to have everyone he meets in stitches. He's the most lovable little drama queen who never misses the chance for a good cuddle and a fuss. He loves his jumping and certainly likes to flick his toes in the ring! Hes got a clever brain and loves learning new tricks as part of his liberty styled training which keeps him engaged. He's a super quirky ride but aims to please every moment he can. He was the second member of the gang who joined us on the 1st of October 2016 💖 Over the 7 years he's done nothing but cause trouble but he knows he's the ultimate golden boy who you can't help but adore! He'd barely done anything before he arrived with us and wasn't the easiest to train! He certainly made us know where his legs were.. His show name is Wild Child to suit his crazy loveable personality 💖 He was born March 6th 2012 and was born a twin! First clip in 2 years completed yesterday 🥰 as much as I hate rug season I love how smart they all look 🥰 - Oreo was a little star and stood good as gold the entire time including to do his face with the big clippers 🥰. Little heart felt moment with him since we once believed he'd never be in enough work to be clipped by this winter after last year but here we are 🥰 - Jack has his first big boy clip at his grand age of 15 🤣 no more very low Irish now he's fit and working up a good sweat every ride (I may regret the spiciness I'm going to get in response though 🤣) he was also a star and after realising I wasn't going to hurt him he stood all chilled too 🥰 - and of course Edward... the bombproof pony who is scared of nothing.. obviously is terrified and had to have a slight meltdown over A. Me turning the clippers on and B. Behind his ears as per usual 🤣🤦♀️ then proceeded to eat hay like nothing happened 🤦♀️🤣. And the legs are finally off which I've waited so long to do ! A little throwback to Oreo last August before his surgery and complications 💖 - So these photos and videos won't mean much to anyone but this ride was such a big moment for us, I just didn't know it would be our last for a long time 🙈.. this particular day we had a video shoot for our yards new website which I worked all 4 of the squad including me riding eddy round the hack track with the drone, and me showjumping oreo ❤.. - Now those who know about his will know he suffered a hip injury that was hidden back in 2019. This effected his way of going especially since we didn't find it until we changed to a much better physio (Heidi 😉).. I then spent the next year and a half doing flat work, poles, hacking and just over all getting the strength there and increasing his suppleness and his schooling ability as he just couldn't step under with that hind at all which was causing all the bucking 🙈.. now, fast forward to the start of last year he had his first few jumps all which he was still lacking behind but it's his favourite thing to do and after assessing it we just popped a couple every month or so, now.. - This particular ride the school had just been harrowed and his schooling had come on leaps and bounds over the past month which just shone in this session!! He popped everything with his forward energy he used to have back before his hip, took me into everything with such confidence and because I'd become so much more balanced with him and I've worked a lot on just leaving him alone I managed to completely go with him over the fences which helped so so much! He's finally started to jump more evenly behind however he's still compensating and won't land properly on that right rein which is completely understandable but he was just mega 💖 he jumped his first spread since he was 6 and popped the cross poles up to around 75cm which is massive for him ❤ - I was so excited to get his jumping up to scratch over the winter for this year but obviously complications for him got in the way but after having the news he's finally in the clear to begin work I can only look forward to getting him back to it this year 🥰💖 - #Oreo #CobXFriesian #WildChild #PartDales

No scope no hope 🤪 - think I'm going to have to learn how to hold on!! - So after a lovely hack on Ed and layla on Saturday we wasn't quite up for a schooling session and I wanted to give ozzy a break and do something different with him.. since he won't hack alone at all I took him out in the long lines round our private hack route over the XC jumps and he FLEW 🥰😁. Dentist day was a success 🤣🤦♀️ - Soo all 4 had the dentist today 😁 layla was her usual spicy self 🤣 however Tom always does a fantastic job with her! And the biys had him foe the first time today and what little super stars 😊 eddy was a little weary with a few side steps and backing up but was fine when he realised he was helping as it turns out his last dentist a year Ago never finished the job properly so he had 2 super sharp molars on his right side (which is why hes been awful down his right rein). Jack also stood like a charm. Tom didnt have to hold any of the boys 😊 jack stood amazing which was lovely to see then after he rinsed his mouth and took the metal guard off he just toddled off happy as larry as if to say hes done 🤣.. and little ozzy was adorable and stood good as gold! Little ponies post just to brighten your mornong because theyre just the cutest 🥰🤣 - Very wet, snowy and windy day yesterday but productive nevertheless.. little miss layla schooled beautifully in the rain and tried her little heart out and really started to bend to the inside a lot more rather than falling through her shoulder.. also how adorable is she in oreos ice blue numnah 😍 - Then oreo had a schooling session in the end of the snow before it started to brighten up a little and he was a little twerp as per 🙄🤣 five years down the line and he still thinks broncing is great fun but after he settled down he stretched lovely over his back and really relaxed so a positive notce by the end 😊 however he looks gorgeous in the benneton 😍 - Then eddy had a walk down the road and back.. well i say walk we ran most of it and he throighly enjoyed himself squealing up the lane and chasing after me 🤣. Oreo ROCKING the lavender 😍 (and no me matching was not planned 😂) - I've said it before and I'll say it again, he should've been a mare 😂 - So oreo had another little school yesterday 😊. However it wasnt his best work (he just felt stiff and lame ect yesterday) nor was it my best riding (I just cpuldnt do anything to save my life 🤦♀️) however he did progress throughout and we kept all four feet on the ground so I'm not ganna complain 😂. His right canter lead is getting a lot stronger. Finally our first ride back in about 4 weeks 😁❤ - Sooo I got very lazy and between bringing Jack back into work and getting layla cantering away the two boys work load dropped a little 😅 and as much as Eddy kept ticking over, oreo on the other hand ended up with a 2 week break. However, since hes been on a program to try strengthen his hip he was beginning to feel slightly worse and sore down that leg so giving him a two week break was also for his benefit and not just because I lacked time. - However, in the last two weeks we have been long lining more than anything around the fields so that he wasnt constantly working on bends and then last week he started up his lunging over poles again for me to then FINALLY get back on board last thursday 😊❤. - Giving him that time away has benefitted him so much and Thursday he really relaxed and travelled so much more forward than he normally does ❤ rather then working him round it was more a case of getting him to stretch into the bridle through his back and he went lovely 😊. Mondays fiesta 🤪 - So on Monday I got all four of the squad clipped and tidied 😁.. yes this DOES include LAYLAS FIRST EVER CLIP 😁🥳. she was sooooo good considering she is absolutely petrified of them 😁 I couldnt get anywhere near her face but oh well because even to get half her body off was a huge thing for her 😁 the boys also had their clips done (jack will be getting the same as the ponies next year however. Were just trailing this year to see if he drops weight quick or anything). Then the three ponies were all lunged over poles 😊 Edward cant do a lot so he just had a quick walk and trot each was as were trying to build his soundness up gradually and dont want to over do it with him only just coming alright. Ponies post ❤ - When your mum sends you on your own to bring the ponies in whilst she hays and you turn up riding one of them 😂😂.. whoops 😂 - So the past 2 weeks we have gotten started on their little rehab/management plans from the physio which they both had at the start of this month and its definitely working on Eddy side 😂 - So Edward has suffered with some sort of lameness in the school for a while now and from the start we have always suspected he has some form of arthiritis in his hocks, however, after having a physio out it was kinda declared that them changes are happening in his jocks which is why hes been struggling so much lately. However, since having his physio he is like a completely different pony 😂 he has been absolutely fresh as a daisy giving me absolutely zero brakes whatsoever but he is completely LOVING life. We made the decision way before the physio to keep him as a happy hacker however this is going to stand from further out. He just simply cant track up in the school because it causes him pain however out hacking he is sound as a fiddle and has been taking me for canters the lot 😂 - As for oreo, he has a bit of what's like a pulled hip muscle in his right hip which is an old injury (probably from when he reversed into the ditch last year), which is why he has struggled so much on one rein to track up and bring that leg underneath him. It was causing stiffness in two of his vertebrae in his loins/croup area (I wanna say the sacral vertebrae but it's been a while since I've done biology of a horse 😂). These specific vertebrae only move a millimetre so if theres restrictions there then they cant move at all which is basically what was happening to him. I've been trying for 5 days to post this but its FINALLY letting me, however it wpuldnt let me do collages like for the other boys so enjoy some more recent pics if this year so far instead ❤ - So, the first if October (last thursday) marked 4 years with Oreo 🤩😱😱!!! Time has flown soooooo quickly and to see that hes not my scruffy little 4 year old anymore is kinda heart breaking a little 😂😥. However, these past 4 years he has grown so much and I'm so happy with where he is right now ❤ - This pony has put me through blood sweat and many many tears on multiple occasions. Hes thrown every single possibility at me that you can possible imagine and back in late 2017/early 2018 I lost my confidence so much. He would rear,spin, and just take off bronking around the arena with his head between his knees and I still to this day have zero idea how I used to hold onto him. WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO THIS WEEK - Just some photos of what weve been up to this week so far 😊 (even thought it's only Tuesday 😂) - So yesterday I took Eddy on our first hack alone as just me and him since we moved to willow and he was amazing 😁 we explored so many new routes and had a blast cantering around and just putting some fun back into our rides rather than worrying about how good we look or how supple he is ❤ p.s. I'm still absolutely head over heels for the ink blue 😉 - As for today, it was a BIG day for our little original team 😊 not only did Oreo go on his FIRST hack since moving, I managed to rope @jami3_k9 into riding along side us which we havent done in well over a year ❤ the last time we hacked together oreo reversed them both into an 8 ft ditch so it's been a pretty rocky journey ❤ so I am immensely proud and definitely looking forward to the summer next year so that we can go on soooo many adventures through the lincolnshire wolds 😊😁❤. Oreo was an absolute superstar the while time! A little tense at first and I had to hand walk him over the road however for him to stand there with lorries zooming past was so well behaved if him and I couldnt be happier with how today went 😁. 4 years ago to the day since I went to meet my mums friends horse Dummer! OREO UPDATE 😁 😱 - So I think it's about time I give you a little oreo update 😊 (scroll to the end to see oreo smiling because he had caramel stuck on his lip and couldnt quite figure out what it was 😂) - So oreo is finally coming back into ridden work since blowing his splint and on monday we had our first canter under saddle in over 2 months 😁. Just some photos of my three favourite boys 😊❤ sorry I've been so inactive lately I promise I'm going to start posting more 😅 I just havent been able to get round to it 😅 - Anyway quite a bit has happened in the past couple weeks, Edward has a new saddle and is working amazingly in it 😁 hes got such a spring to his step and can actually bend and lift through his back now. So, to kick start me catching up on everything I haven't posted... here's oreo doing what he does best... being a drama queen at the start of last month 😂😂 - This was when I was starting to really push him to bring his hind end underneath him a little more and he decided it was the most difficult thing in the world 😂, but as you can see through my posts from last month he was starting to get the hang of it 😊 - Unfortunately, the reason you've not seen much of him these past two weeks, is a two weeks ago, we found a splint in his leg, and even though hes not lame on it, it is still sore and hes not quite 100 percent yet 😕. So hes been taking a break from ridden work and has been doing very light exercise to keep him ticking over until it has set and not giving him grief anymore. The two ponies yesterday ❤ - Soooo yesterday me and @jami3_k9 rode together again and the boys were SUPER 😁😁 and scroll to see a couple of videos on us ending on a little hack around the fields and a Toronto the hill 😊 - So with Oreo yesterday we decided to work on our walk and trot and leave the canter out for a day and work a little more intensely in the trot pace. I did some non stirrup work and worked on keeping my lower leg still as it's something that I find hard on him for some apparent reason 😂 however I also worked on driving him forwards from his hind end a lot more. I'm lucky in the sense hes always used his hind end quite well ever since he learnt to pick up iff his forehand but yesterday I could really feel the power working through his back 😁 he was amazing and really worked his little socks off ❤ also, enjoy a cheeky buck in the first video 😂 (I do have more bucking footage to come at some point 🤫🤫 - Then Jamie worked on her position a bit too by taking her stirrups away for a bit but also worked in getting Eddy to keep his forward momentum and bending round the corners as his left shoulder is still weak from last year si he struggles to bend through it and tends to fall into his right shoulder. Some photos of me and @jami3_k9 riding the ponies today ❤ - We had our first ride together in sooooooo long and it just happened to be raining and hailstoning 😂 we also swapped half way so that we could ride them both and they were soooooo well behaved 😍 - I didnt ride my best but getting hit in the face whilst you ride isnt the nicest 😂😂 really proud of how hard eddy tried and I cant wait to have his teeth done and get him into his loose ring again 😁🥳.
