What do farmers’ markets mean to Pilot? Last year we took over the Cabbagetown Farmers’ Market (@cabbagetownmarket ) - one of Toronto’s oldest neighbourhood markets and the first to specialize in local organic produce. We stepped in (and up) to ensure this important community asset would continue. In one week, the market kicks off another season and we are proud to say that the community values that have made this event so special over the past 40+ years have never been so strong. This year we have negotiated 33 vendor relationships with growers, producers and artisans from across southern Ontario. Some are returning, many are new. We are not merely selling food, we are building and strengthening community - within our own company as volunteers - and within the city where we live and work. Many have asked, why would a brand strategy and design company - headquartered in downtown Toronto - take on running a farmers market? The short answer is we don’t live and work in a bubble. Our team and our neighbours make us successful. If we don’t invest in them, we have very little. In downtown Toronto’s Cabbagetown neighbourhood, Tuesday is market day. From 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Riverdale Park West you will find hundreds of amazing people gathering as part of a weekly ritual - shopping, talking, telling stories, and enjoying the faces.
