The girls who wish to be recruited in the Army, Navy, or Air Force can pursue their preparation through their coaching classes at DDA for NDA and Agniveer posts in the Defence Sector. DDA offers many other facilities along with coaching classes like a computer Laboratory facility, library, study material, curated videos, counseling sessions, expert faculty (subject experts), uniform, coaching cap, and many other facilities to facilitate a teaching-learning process for the students. There are limited seats available for the female candidates at DDA and also for the Agniveer Vayu exam that is scheduled in May 2023. Many female candidates have already joined the Indian Armed Forces and are serving as distinguished officers at respected designations in the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Some are undergoing their training to join the Army, Navy, or Air Force. A huge concession of 10 percent makes the fee structure even more reasonable for the females than it is for the boys. So female candidates need to make quick decisions regarding their career choice. The various terms and conditions of the recruitment in various Defence-related posts along with the academic requirements are mentioned on the DDA website www.doondefenceacademy.com

#Todayin 2010 Marine Scott Gregory Taylor, from Alpha Company, 40 Commando Royal Marines, was killed as a result of an explosion which occurred when he and Alpha Company were conducting a foot patrol to help reassure the local population and to increase security within the area around Sangin. Marine Scott Taylor joined the Royal Marines on 24 September 2007, aged 18. Prior to enlisting he completed his GCSEs and A-levels at Buxton Community School in his hometown of Buxton, Derbyshire. Following in the footsteps of his older brother Liam, Marine Taylor passed for duty as a Royal Marines Commando on 26 September 2008. Joining Alpha Company, 40 Commando Royal Marines, he took part in numerous exercises, most notably TAURUS 09, the largest Royal Naval deployment in over 10 years, participating in ceremonial duties in Gibraltar and multinational exercises in Cyprus and Turkey. The exercise culminated in the Far East where he completed an arduous jungle warfare training package in Brunei. Upon return from summer leave in September 2009, his attention was focused on Mission Specific Training for 40 Commando’s deployment to Afghanistan on Op HERRICK 12. In April 2010 he deployed to Sangin, Afghanistan, with Alpha Company, based out of Patrol Base Jamil. Marine Taylor’s family have made the following statement: Scotty was the perfect son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend who would do anything for anybody no matter who they were, always caring and respectful. He loved his family and lit up the room with his smile. He had a wicked sense of humour and was loyal, caring and brave, never showing pain. He will leave a void in everyone’s lives who knew him that can never be filled. Thoughts go out to all his close family and friends on this day of days, may he rest in peace and may he never be forgotten 🇬🇧. 'Per Mare Per Terram'

#Todayin 2009 Lance Corporal Nigel Moffett from The Light Dragoons and Corporal Stephen Bolger from The Parachute Regiment, Special Forces Support Group (SFSG) were killed in Afghanistanas a result of an explosion that happened whilst on a deliberate operation near Musa Qaleh. They were serving with the Brigade Reconnaissance Force. LCpl Moffett was born in Holywood, Belfast, on 12 December 1980. He joined The Light Dragoons in July 2003 and served on operations with Regimental Headquarters in Iraq in 2003 and C Squadron (The Legion) in Iraq in 2005 and Afghanistan in 2006. From the very beginning he showed an enthusiasm for soldiering that stood him apart from his peers. Keen to try his hand at everything, LCpl Moffett ran, boxed, cross-country skied, hill-walked and played rugby with the regiment. He was very much a regimental character, particularly due to his love of extreme physical challenges. He would routinely choose to carry the heavy General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) on endurance marches instead of his rifle. He carried his enthusiastic nature into the Corporals’ Mess, where he could be relied on to be at the centre of any revelry. In September 2008, LCpl Moffett volunteered to join the Brigade Reconnaissance Force (BRF) for 19 Light Brigade, as the brigade began preparing for Operation HERRICK 10. The BRF is selected from across all of the units from the brigade and acts as the eyes and ears of the commander. LCpl Moffett quickly established himself as the fittest member of the unit. A Physical Training Instructor, he was responsible for running much of the subsequent BRF fitness training. He brought to the BRF knowledge of mobility procedures and long range communications and previous operational experience. Thoughts go out to all his close family and friends on this day of days, may he rest in peace and may he never be forgotten 🇬🇧. 'Viret in aeternum' 'Merebimur'

#Todayin 2009 Lance Corporal Nigel Moffett from The Light Dragoons and Corporal Stephen Bolger from The Parachute Regiment, Special Forces Support Group (SFSG) were killed in Afghanistan, as a result of an explosion that happened whilst on a deliberate operation near Musa Qaleh. They were serving with the Brigade Reconnaissance Force. Corporal Bolger’s family have released the following statement: Stephen was a wonderful firstborn son, brother to two and friend to many; he was dearly loved and will be sorely missed. Stephen was always happy, caring and generous and we are sure that those fortunate enough to have known him will share in the loss we are now feeling. We can take some comfort knowing that he died amongst friends, doing something he loved and believed in. We are all immensely proud of him. We would ask that the press respect our need to grieve in private at this difficult time. His Commanding Officer said: Stephen was, quite simply, an extraordinary man doing an extraordinary job. He embodied a life based on service to others, duty and self-sacrifice - the life of a soldier. He chose this life and lived it with a passion; he died prematurely, but he died doing what he loved. He gave his all for his friends, for The Parachute Regiment and for the difficult task he faced. How privileged we are to have known this courageous and talented soldier and every member of the unit is very proud and deeply honoured to have served alongside him. We think now about his family; our thoughts and prayers are with them, and in the silence of their lives we hope they will draw strength from the same memories we all share. Thoughts go out to all his close family and friends on this day of days, may he rest in peace and may he never be forgotten 🇬🇧. 'Utrinque Paratus'

#Todayin 2007 Corporal Mike Gilyeat, from the Royal Military Police, died when the United States Chinook helicopter he was travelling in crashed in the Kajaki area of northern Helmand. Cpl Gilyeat, 28, known as ‘Gilly’, was a photographer attached to the Media Operations team based at Regional Command (South) in Kandahar. Cpl Gilyeat was on the aircraft to film the insertion of US troops as part of a wider piece he was producing on a major alliance operation around Kajaki. He died alongside his Canadian colleague, Master Corporal Darrell Priede, aged 30. Born in Hanover, Germany, Cpl Mike Gilyeat followed his father into the Army in August 2002. He had previously served in Iraq (on Op TELIC 6) and had more recently been based in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. He volunteered to deploy to Afghanistan, motivated by a desire to make a difference, and to diversify into news photography. Lieutenant Colonel Mike Smith, his commanding officer in Regional Command (South), said: Cpl Gilyeat was a gifted and enthusiastic member of the team who had made a real difference in the time he had been in theatre. He was an eternally cheerful character who was always quick to lend a hand wherever it was needed and did so without complaint. Despite being an experienced and proud Military Policeman he was thriving in his first employment as a news photographer. He showed great flair and promise and had already produced several powerful images. In the six weeks he had been in theatre, he had struck up a close friendship with his fellow photographer Master Corporal Priede, with whom he enjoyed a constant stream of banter, usually centred on their friendly competitiveness over pictures. The tragic loss of both of them is something which has been keenly felt by everyone in our team; we miss their infectious enthusiasm, consummate professionalism and unwavering good humour. Our thoughts are with their families and friends. Thoughts go out to all his close family and friends on this day of days, may he rest in peace and may he never be forgotten 🇬🇧. 'Exemplo Ducemus'

#Todayin 2005 Lance Corporal Alan Brackenbury of The King's Royal Hussars, was serving with A Squadron, part of the 1 STAFFORDS battlegroup in Iraq. He died instantly in the early hours of Sunday 29 May 2005, during an incident to the South of Al Amarah, Iraq, when his patrol was attacked by a roadside bomb as it drove to a meeting with the Iraqi Border Police. He was in the first of three land-rovers in the patrol when it was struck by an Improvised Explosive Device. The explosion killed Cpl Brackenbury and injured four other soldiers - all of whom were rapidly evacuated by helicopter. Cpl Brackenbury was declared dead on his arrival at the medical facility in the nearby British Camp. Aged 21, LCpl Brackenbury was from East Riding, Yorkshire. He joined the Army in 2000 and was promoted to Lance Corporal in 2005. Alan is survived by his father Stephen, mother Janet, brother David, and sister Faye. His father said: Alan loved being in the army - it was all he had ever wanted to do. He was immensely proud to be a soldier and we were immensely proud that he was a soldier. It is some comfort to us, as we grieve for Alan, that he died doing what he loved so much. Thoughts go out to all his close family and friends on this day of days, may he rest in peace and may he never be forgotten 🇬🇧. . . . . . . . #Todayin 2009 Lance Corporal Kieron Hill from 2nd Battalion The Mercian Regiment (Worcesters and Foresters) died as a result of an explosion that happened whilst on a deliberate operation near Garmsir in Helmand province. Lance Corporal Kieron Hill, aged 20, was born in Nottingham where he grew up, attending Fairham College in Clifton. He was single with no children. After completing infantry basic training at the Infantry Training Centre Catterick he joined C Company, 2nd Battalion The Mercian Regiment (Worcesters and Foresters), in 2006 at the age of 17. On arrival in the battalion, LCpl Hill deployed to Belize for a jungle training exercise in preparation for the Operation HERRICK 6 deployment to Helmand province. That deployment was a true test for all members of the battalion, and it was a tour in which LCpl Hill distinguished himself. Shortly after the tour he attended and passed the Assault Pioneers Course followed by the Junior Non-Commissioned Officers’ Cadre to achieve promotion to Lance Corporal. This was after an unusually short time which is testament to the ability of a relatively junior soldier. He was a very keen footballer who was regularly chosen to be in the company and battalion teams. Most of all ‘Hilly’s’ sense of humour will be missed; true to the nature of a British Army soldier he would often play jokes on his mates. LCpl Kieron Hill will be remembered by all as a brave and tough soldier who was a pleasure and inspiration to work with. He was an all-rounder who had everything required for a promising career in the true traditions of the British Army. Thoughts go out to all his close family and friends on this day of days, may he rest in peace and may he never be forgotten 🇬🇧. 'Stand Firm Strike Hard' . . . . . . . #Todayin 2007 Corporal Darren Bonner, the lead Signaler serving with A (Norfolk) Company Group, of the 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment, died as a result of an incident involving an explosive device. The soldiers had been travelling in convoy roughly 11km east of Hyderabad in the Gereshk region of Helmand Province when an explosion hit the convoy. Corporal ‘Big Daz’ Bonner, aged 31, was a larger than life figure who made a positive impact on everyone that he met. He was engaged to Becca and looking forward to the prospect of marriage and buying a home in Great Yarmouth after his tour of duty in Afghanistan. He joined the Army in 1993 and served with the Regiment’s 2nd Battalion on operational deployments in Northern Ireland and the Balkans. In 2004 he moved across to the 1st Battalion and served as a key member of the Signals Platoon in Iraq in 2006. Physically impressive, he was a keen weight lifter and night club bouncer in his spare time, but his robust exterior concealed a sensitive compassionate side and a heart of gold. Darren was a devout Christian and had taken the lead in organising a memorial for a recent fatality in A Company. He would regularly give up his time for others, teaching ‘Football in the Community’, or mentoring Army Cadets near his home town in Gorleston, Norfolk. He was also an avid Spurs fan, and made sure that everyone who met him was apprised of the fact. Darren exuded energy and charisma; he always had a joke to tell or a story to recount, ensuring he was extremely popular with his wealth of friends. The night before his death he was seen reading the bible by his friends, drawing strength before facing the known dangers of the operation. He genuinely cared about the people of Afghanistan, and about his comrades that he fought with. It is, therefore, a source of some consolation to those who knew him that he died on operations courageously contributing to a noble cause; one that he cared about and believed in. Thoughts go out to his fiancée and all his close family and friends on this day of days, may he rest in peace and may he never be forgotten 🇬🇧. 'STABILIS'

#Todayin 2006 On the evening of Sunday 28 May at 2137hrs local, a British Army patrol from 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards (The Welsh Cavalry) was attacked by a roadside bomb in the Al Jezaizah district of northwest Basra. The explosion hit an armoured Land Rover patrol on a routine task in support of the Iraqi Security Forces. Very sadly the incident killed two members from A Squadron: Troop Leader Lieutenant Tom Mildinhall and Lance Corporal Paul Farrelly. Lance Corporal Paul Farrelly, known as ‘Fas’, was born on 13 August 1978 and grew up in Runcorn, near Liverpool. He moved to Rhyl when he was about 16-years-old and enlisted into the Army in March 2002. He has two younger sisters Sadie and Laura, and a younger brother Liam. His mother lives in Anglesey and his father in Cheltenham. Paul Farrelly joined the Queen’s Dragoon Guards after completing his basic training at the Army Training Regiment in Winchester, where he was judged top recruit. Lance Corporal Farrelly was serving on his third Iraq deployment with the QDG, which had begun one month ago. He first served in Iraq during the initial combat operations between February and May 2003. He completed his second six month tour in April 2005 when the Regiment was deployed to assist in training the Iraqi Security Forces. Paul was a keen footballer and a regular member of the Regimental 1st XI. His love of the game was such that even when injured he still appeared at all the matches and was a staunch supporter of the team. He was an all-round sportsman and never happier than with a ball or bat. He will be remembered as a happy, jovial soldier as well as a dedicated family man. He was devoted to his wife and three young children and was adamant that family came first above all things. Thoughts go out to his wife, his children and all his close family and friends on this day of days, may he rest in peace and may he never be forgotten 🇬🇧. 'Pro rege et patria' . . . . . . . His father is a retired Army officer and the family home is in Battersea, south London. Lieutenant Mildinhall was educated at Monkton Combe school in Bath where he excelled at rowing. After studying Artificial Intelligence & Computer Sciences at Durham University and completing his officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in April 2004, Tom was commissioned into the QDG. He will be missed by those who served along side him for his extremely dry sense of humour and razor sharp wit that often left everyone in stitches. Millennial Arms hopes everyone had a peaceful, reflective, and cathartic Memorial Day. We appreciate the sacrifices made by the brave men and women of our armed services in defense of what we love - freedom, liberty, and justice. We extend our deepest gratitude and respect to those who have taken up freedom’s torch in the past, present, and future; and who have often times laid their lives down to keep our nation - and those around the world - safe from tyranny. We pray wholeheartedly that those who made the ultimate sacrifice have found peace knowing that our flag waves on above our beloved home. To all those missing in action or killed in action, as well as their families - Thank you. ——————————————————— #memorialday #memorialday2024 #mia #kia #soldiers #sailors #airmen #marines #guardsmen #reserves #red #freedom #unitedstates #homeofthebrave #neverforget #ultimatesacrifice

On Memorial Day, as we come together with loved ones to celebrate the freedoms we enjoy, it's important to take a moment to remember what this day truly means. It's a time to thank those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their bravery in defending our freedoms reminds us of the debt of gratitude we owe. Today, we honor not only the famous heroes but also the many others whose names we may not know but whose sacrifices are just as important. As we remember these brave individuals, I would like to also remember Tara. Colonel Tara Lunardi died on February 7, 2024, following a valiant battle against cancer. She was 48. Tara was an Air Force OSI Special Agent, an incredible leader, and a dear friend to me and so many others. She gave her heart and soul to our service, our Airmen and this nation. It is her I will be thinking of and missing this weekend. Join me this weekend to thank them and their families from the bottom of our hearts and ensure that we never forget their service or sacrifice. May we always remember their impact and strive to uphold the values of freedom, democracy, and justice they fought for. — Hi, I'm thrilled to connect with you here! If we haven't met, I'm DeDe, a former military officer with over 25 years experience in the U.S. Air Force leading diverse teams and advising our nation's top military officials. In today's fast-paced world, where change is constant, I can tell you with absolute certainty -- leaders who deeply understand our human essence will hold the greatest advantage going forward. #landofthefreebecauseofthebrave #supportourtroops #enlisted #airmen #usarmedforces #patriotism #honorthefallen #occupy #livesmatter #mindfulleadership #selfidentity #businessrelationships #leadershipteam #leadershipacademy #keynotespeakers #businessprofessionals #processimprovement #keynotes #capabilities #leadershipspeaker #beingseen #solveproblems #powerinwords #teachbyexample #leadershift #womenspeakers #leaderships #howtosucceed #leadershipstyle #guestspeakers
