I like doing 🤸🏻♂️ just about anywhere, but I prefer to do it in front of an audience. So, when I saw Hebru Brantley's bronze figure Gaia at Wynwood Walls, I couldn't resist. There were people around and that's always a bonus. I asked the museum room guard whether I could take a picture lying down by Gaia, and he said "of course" in a way that sounded to me like "I thought you'd never ask". Just in case, I insisted "I mean really lying down on the floor here", and his facial expression conveyed to me that I could do whatever made me happy. I've been very lucky in the museums where I have tried to do 🤸🏻♂️, but Wynwood Walls was next level. Feeling accepted is the greatest! Neck live 2014 1400×900×900 ballpoint pen on plywood boad photo by Hayato Wakabayashi In 2014, many people gathered in front of the National Diet Building and raised their voices during a demonstration against the government. The government passed the bill without even listening to the voices of the people. I realized that there are various regulations around us. Even though I couldn't use my arms or legs, I decided to continue struggling with only the upper part of my neck, so I performed a decapitation performance. I was there for 10 days, 8 hours a day. After the second day, I thought something was wrong and started writing notes in the box. On the third day I realized. While regulations are being put in place, struggling just by being there means being a serious, compliant person. An artist's job is to break down those regulations and concepts. I spent the rest of the week drawing on the 10mm thick board on the inside front, applying pressure with a ballpoint pen. To break down the regulatory walls that hang over me. Essa oficina faz parte do repertório de ações formativas do @desviocoletivooficial e foi um encontro muito rico com muitas trocas e compartilhamento de experiências. Juntxs vimos diversas referências para refletirmos acerca da cidade e o corpo de mulher. Em uma perspectiva poética e feminista pensamos a rua e locais do cotidiano como espaços de experiência, memória e afetividade. Идея работы заключается в визуализации максимальной уязвимости в процессе следования своему пути и движения наощупь. Технически перформанс был реализован так: на ‘тропе’ из песка и земли были расположены пропитанные специальным химическим составом ‘мины’. Когда влага испарялась с их поверхности, любое прикосновение приводило к громкому взрыву-хлопку. Я медленно шла по ‘тропе’ босиком, с закрытыми глазами, не зная, когда мой шаг спровоцирует взрыв. Для аудитории ‘мины’ были видны, зрители могли наблюдать за процессом. Today every one of us is passing one’s own way, wherever one goes. Idea of the work is to visualize ultimate vulnerability while following one’s own way and moving by feel. Technically, performance art was implemented as follows. I located ‘mines’ soaked in a special chemical composition on a ‘path’ of sand and earth. When the moisture evaporated from their surface, the slightest touch made them blow up. I walked barefoot along the ‘path’, with my eyes closed, not knowing when my step would provoke an explosion. The ‘mines’ were visible for the audience, they could watch the process. Sabato 1 giugno Performing The Club presenta la performance “Non me lo spiegavo, il mondo” di Francesca Cola, con Giulia Ceolin e Francesca Cola, in occasione del 10° Anniversario della techno-night @genauturin In “Non me lo spiegavo, il mondo” due figure quasi identiche muovono un rituale arcaico che s’innesta con potenza nel contemporaneo in una prospettiva interspecie, tra identità arcaica e riconciliazione futura. Gesti speculari, metafore e simboli invitano il pubblico a contemplare la bellezza e a frequentare la sospensione del mistero. Il flusso vibrante del vocal throat (canto gutturale che ha origine dagli altopiani della Mongolia e che rappresenta l’essenza dei popoli nomadi e del loro legame con la natura) crea un’atmosfera rituale, trascendendo la realtà ordinaria e immergendo i partecipanti in un’esperienza emotiva e simbolica. La figura della donna cervo, carica di riferimenti antropologici, amplifica il messaggio di connessione con l’invisibile e la ricerca di un’origine. A dieci anni esatti dalla prima apertura al Performa Festival di Lugano e dopo aver abitato diversi luoghi tra Festival di arti performative e realtà museali del territorio nazionale (Museo Archeologico Nazionale delle Marche, Museo Ettore Fico, Palazzina di caccia di Stupinigi...), la performance di Francesca Cola atterra negli spazi dell’Azimut Club, lasciando allo spettatore la scelta di abbandonarsi alla pura estetica dell’azione performativa o farsi trasportare dai riferimenti simbolici del rituale.
