Unconventional Strength & Core- On all kettle bell movements focus on quality midline positions and avoiding all midline passive leaning. Neck, shoulders and hips should remain stacked through all 3 movements. Core fatigue should be compounding as movements progress. Shoulder to overhead should be performed unbroken; scale if you have to perform in more than 2 sets. Sneaky core and positional strength for the win today. Focused on quads and calves in todays workout with a few single leg movements and some muscular power work with the leg sweep to single leg calf raise and jump squats! Ever since incorporating running into my routine, I make sure to include single leg and arm exercises into my strength workouts to decrease the chances of imbalances. I’ve also been working on strengthening my calves a few times a week and never do a lower body workout without hitting them. They take on so much impact when running!! I love lifting and have been enjoying running as well so I’m kind of in this hybrid training routine now with a mixture of both, which I love because I get the benefits of both! If you guys would like a detailed layout of my current new routine I can make a post/reel explaining what I do each day.😄 What amazes me is lately I’ve been feeling more athletic than ever, possibly even more than before having a baby, and I believe part of the reason for that is I’ve had sort of a mindset shift where instead of focusing only on aesthetics and looks like I used to, I’m training more functionally, purposefully, and with real athletic goals in mind.
