Got into the studio today, all ready to continue this piece I cut up and re-attached to a new canvas. Adding more color. Adding lines. Adding movement. And then all of a sudden, my judging mind comes in. I feel doubt. Some deep sadness. This is all such a mess. I have nooo idea what I am doing or where this is going. It is overwhelming. Ack, despair bomb! I step away. Come back. Look down through the lens of my phone to take a picture. All of sudden, I am excited by the colors. I see it differently than an hour ago or the other day. Wow, so bright! I don’t know about you, but this encapsulates life perfectly right now, especially for me. This is why I feel the process of making art shows us exactly how we are in real time. All of these pieces have a story that goes with them. Eight pieces, eight different stories, all furthering my thoughts about “Home, Safety, and Shelter”. My art is personal and, to me, representational. It’s also just a little abstract. It’s also in that place that straddles design, decorative, serious/intentional, and searching. I know there’s a current practice of NOT putting a lot of text or explanation near art; that an image should stand in its own and be there for the viewer to take what they want from it. But I see this text and the image as one. And I, when I’m viewing art, always want more context, more information, some insights, and some clues. I like to learn. I like to leave thinking as well as feeling. I want to stand in front of a piece longer. Words help me. I share art and stories. I am in love with weeds essential for wildlife and beautiful as everything else, they symbolise nostalgia, wilderness and rebeliousness. My background is holistic therapy and I am passionate in creating beautiful art using a holistic approach. All flowers are sustainably collected and pressed by me. The pressing process is long but rewarding and I only use flower presses and books. Nieuwe altaartjes collectie Deze altaar collectie is geïnspireerd op de symbolische en spirituele betekenis is van bloemen, planten, vlinders, nachtvlinders (motten) en al het moois wat de natuur ons te bieden heeft. De collectie zal bestaan uit 5 verschillende altaartjes met ieder een affirmatie/ quote die aan sluiten bijvoorbeeld de luna moth en de moon flower (swipe voor de detail aan de zijkant). De luna moth staat symbool voor een nieuwe begin en de moonflower staat symbool voor voor het bloeien in donkere tijden en de groei die we door maken tijdens deze periode. De affirmaties/ qoutes in de altaartjes dragen een mooie boodschap met zich mee. Een boodschap die je kunt gebruiken voor jezelf of om te geven aan iemand. Zo kunnen ze je helpen met je innerlijke reis (zoektocht), je intenties te ondersteunen, je dromen te volgen, dat je mag zijn wie je wilt zijn of om je kracht te geven. We had a beautiful and deep exploration at @thesalisburycentre last weekend. 💚 Thank you for joining and entering a profound journey within. That takes a lot of courage and presence. During the workshop, we worked with Trees Spirit and Guardians. 🌷🌿 Many Elementals helped and supported the space. Een kijkje achter de schermen Momenteel zijn we achter de schermen druk bezig met het gieten en beschilderen van onze magical universe altaars, houders en wandtegels collectie. Alles wordt helemaal met de hand gedaan van het gieten tot aan het beschilderen. Nadat bijvoorbeeld een altaartje goed is opgedroogd en uitgehard teken ik eerst het ontwerp in het altaartje en ga daarna met een goude verf de lijnen van het ontwerp schilderen, dit doe ik met een kleine penseel zodat de lijnen mooi dun zijn.
