Aurinkoinen @ilmailumuseo lastenpäivä vietetty onnistuneesti lauantaina paljon oli vietailijoita paikalla, mikä valitettavasti aiheutti Pientä jonotusta mutta siitäkin selvittiin. Simulaattorit olivat ahkerassa kokeilussa koko päivän 10-17 Boeing737max Madeiran maisemissa ja AirbusA320 Mallorcalla ei siis vaaraa toisiinsa törmätä 😉 tuo 7 tuntia kun molempien polttoainekin riittää hyvin täydellä tankkauksella. Autogyroon riitti ihmettelijöitä, aika erikoisen näköinen vehjehän se onkin. Tullin ja poliisien koirat olivat monen suosikkeja ja pelastuskalusto kerää kiinnostuneita. Lokkiin sisälle oli myös jonoa. Kuulemani mukaan ruoka'rekoista' tarjolla ollut ruoka oli hyvää, itse kun sain työntekijänä maittavan aterian toisaalla niin jäi kokeilematta. #よねさん図鑑_岐阜かかみがはら航空宇宙博物館編 その21 1962 新明和 UF-XS UF-XSは新明和工業が作った実験用の飛行艇です。 1952年3月、日本の「航空機の研究・生産禁止」が解除され、当時はプロペラ機からジェット機へ技術革新が進んでいました。 新明和の菊原静男（紫電改や二式大艇の設計者）は敗戦国の一企業が戦勝国の企業と戦うのは不利なため、強みである飛行艇で生き残る路線を考えていたそうです。 飛行艇のメリットは航続距離と搭載力が大きいことと、海さえあればどこでも飛行場となること。 ただし海には波があるので、次期飛行艇は耐波性を高くし用途の拡大を図ることが目標となりました。 しかし飛行艇の試験を行うための機材も金もない。ありあわせのもので風洞装置を作り、実験を進めたそうです。 そして飛沫によるプロペラや船体への影響を抑えるため、船底から上がる水を特殊な溝で受け止めて浮力に利用する「溝型波消し装置」を開発しました。 また、低速でも離着水ができると波の荒い外洋でも離着水が可能になります。 そのSTOL（短距離離着陸）技術を実現するための強力な高揚力装置として、各国で当時研究されていた境界層制御（BLC）とプロペラ後流を組み合わせた方法を採り、また極低速でも機体を安定させる「自動安定装置ASE」も採用しました。 基礎設計は出来たものの金がない。 そこで政府からの発注を受けるために、飛行艇が対潜哨戒に最も有効であることについてPR活動を行うと、接収しテストを行った二式大艇の高性能さに驚愕していた米海軍がその新型飛行艇計画に注目。 菊原氏はアメリカに招かれ、海軍首脳と会談。「日本の海上自衛隊から公式の要請があれば、技術と資材についてアメリカ海軍は全面的に援助する用意がある」との約束を取り付けることに成功したそうです。 そして、「本開発に取り掛かる前に、実機で新技術の飛行実験をしたい。そのためにアメリカ海軍所有の飛行艇を1機供与してもらいたい」と要望し、供与されたのが、グラマン HU-16アルバトロス（正確にはその空軍向けのSA-16）。 アルバトロスは1960年12月に甲南工場に到着し、改造に着手。UF-1を基に艇底を自社開発の試作品に変更、垂直・水平尾翼を採用予定の試作品に取り替え、主翼を延長してエンジンを2機増設し4機としました。 それがこのUF-XSです。初飛行は1962年12月25日。 艇底に関しては自社開発した試作品に取替えられ、波押さえや波消し装置が加えられました。 波消し装置は魚のエラを参考にしていて、艇首側面の入水口から波を吸い込み、艇体中央部側面から排水することで着水時の波を消すようになっています（要はぶつかった波を受け流す入口と出口を設けた）。 この波消し装置の採用により、吸水時の水圧で艇首が浮き上がって離水しやすくなるという特性も兼ね備えていたそうです。 また一般的な垂直尾翼と水平尾翼は取り外され、新明和の自社開発のT字型尾翼に変更されています。 機体上部には境界層制御用のガスタービンエンジン×2を搭載、主翼も変更され、自社開発の前縁スラットと後縁吹き出し（BLC）フラップを装備、高揚力装置によりSTOL性を求め、エンジンはUF-2（UF-1の主翼延長型？）の3枚ペラの双発に加えて、SNJ（T-6）練習機用のエンジン2発（2枚ペラ）を加えた計4発となりました。 主翼下の着水用フロートも自社開発品だそうです。 UF-XSは初飛行後に1963年3月30日から大村航空隊に配備され、1966年まで波消し装置、自動安定装置、高揚力装置などの様々な実験、試験、調査を行い、データを集めました。 このデータを基にしてPS-1が開発され、1967年10月に初飛行を行いました。なおUF-XSはPS-1の3/4のサイズだそうです。 UF-XSは1967年10月16日に用途廃止となり、下総基地のスクラップヤードで保管されることに。 その後、東海大学航空宇宙科学博物館にて展示され（開始時期不明）、1984年7月いっぱいで同館が閉館した後も同じ場所に静置されました。 1993年、かかみがはら航空科学博物館へ移動のため解体され、11月1日に搬入し、修復・復元を実施。 博物館に運び込まれた時点で、高圧の空気を吹き出すために追加された２基のターボシャフト・エンジンおよびダクト等の部品は失われており、屋外展示のために部分的に腐食が進行。 また見学者を機内に入れるための開口部や鉄板の通路を新たに設置するなどの改造もされていて、運用当時とは異なる状態になっていました。 そこで機体を改造した新明和により、当時の図面に基づいて修復・復元が行われました。 なお、失われていた部品を再現する際には、オリジナルと複製品が区別できるように識別用のスタンプを押すなどの処置がとられているそうです（これはスミソニアンもやっていること）。 そして1996年の同館オープンと同時に公開され、現在に至ります。 #岐阜かかみがはら航空宇宙博物館 #飛行機 #aircraft #航空博物館 #aviationmuseum #博物館 #museum #aircraftlovers #ufxs #飛行艇

#otd 79 years ago, on May 17, 1945, the XP2V-1 made its maiden flight. The Lockheed P2V Neptune was a robust and versatile aircraft, designed for maritime patrol, anti-submarine warfare, and various auxiliary missions, making it a vital asset for the U.S. Navy and all the other operators. appeared in a number of different versions during its operational service, the defensive gun turrets The Neptune featured a conventional semi-monocoque fuselage, mid-mounted wings, two Wright R-3350 Duplex-Cyclone radial engines, and some variants were equipped with additional JATO (Jet-Assisted Take-Off) rockets. These provided extra thrust during takeoff, particularly useful for short runways or heavily loaded conditions. Early variants of Neptune were equipped with defensive turrets , later removed. The bomb bay was located in the center fuselage and could carry a variety of ordnance, including depth charges, bombs, and torpedoes, tailored to anti-submarine and maritime strike missions. Although designed during WWII it was developed too late to see active service in that conflict, but it had a long career, from Korea war to the Falkland war, used by Argentina. The installation of advanced radar equipment resulted in a bulbous radome on the underside of the fuselage and the P2V-7 (later designated SP-2H) featured two underwing jet pods to increase performance. #よねさん図鑑_岐阜かかみがはら航空宇宙博物館編 その20 富士T-1B T-1は戦後、日本人が初めて設計・製造した国産ジェット機です。レシプロ機で初等訓練を終えたパイロットが続いて搭乗する中等練習機として使用されました。 空自が発足した当初は、主力戦闘機F-86、初等練習機T-34A、中等練習機T-6、高等練習機T-33Aすべてがアメリカからの供与でした。 おまけにT-6は第二次大戦中に高等練習機として用いられた（初飛行は1935年）レシプロ機、その次がジェット機のT-33なので性能差が大きすぎることや、 T-6のランディングギアは尾輪式で、T-33は前輪式なので地上での視界が両機で全く異なることなども欠点でした。 当時の防衛庁は発足直後からT-6の後継となる中等練習機を検討していて、1956年に航空禁止が全面解除になるのでこれを機に国産技術の回復を図る機運が高まっていたそうです。 この動きはYS-11の製作に結び付き、中等練習機も国産化しようということになり、1955年8月23日に航空幕僚長が防衛庁長官に空自の仕様案を提出。アメリカ製を推す声を抑え、11月4日に国内開発を決定しました。 防衛庁は同年12月、国内の機体メーカー4社に機体を公募。 新三菱は企画書を提出したものの、F-86Fのライセンス生産に専念する必要もあり、その後辞退。 そして川崎航空機の「T1K1」、新明和工業「T1S1」、富士重工業「T1F1」が翌年3月までに出揃い、選考に入りました。 川崎と新明和のはT-33と同じ直線翼にエアインテークが機体両脇に設置されていたのに対し、富士重は鋭角な後退翼とエアインテークを機首に配置するなど機動性が高かったなどの理由で、7月11日にT1F1の採用が決定されました。 . 試作のための研究と試験には国内メーカーと国公立の研究所の協力体制がとられました。 また、国内の航空研究設備の多くが戦後解散し、機材も分解してしまったため、アメリカのコーネル大学の風洞設備を借りて実験を実施。 また同時に、米軍のT-28Bと英軍のT55 バンパイアを一機ずつ購入し、操縦特性や構造、装備品、バンパイアでは並列複座のメリット・デメリットについて徹底的に検証しました。 搭載するエンジンは、国内5社共同出資で設立した日本ジェットエンジン社（NJE、解散済）が開発中だった「XJ3」（推力1200kg）の予定でしたが、製作の遅延で納期に間に合わなくなり、試作1号機に英国ブリストル社製・オーフュースMk.805エンジン（推力1815kg）を搭載してT1F2としました。 試作1号機（82-5801）は1958年1月19日に宇都宮飛行場において初飛行し約30分のテスト飛行に成功。この時のテストパイロットの高岡迪1等空佐は、日本初のジェット機「橘花」の初飛行も勤めた方です。 1号機は3月25日に防衛庁に納入、3月13日に初飛行した2号機（82-5802）以降、6号機までが防衛庁での試験に使用されました。 この試験でいくつかの不具合が改良され、T-1Aと名づけられた機体は、1960年9月30日に量産機初の納入式が行われ、1962年8月までに量産機と試作機あわせて46機が配備されました。 1960年にはNJEの国産ターボジェットエンジン「J3」が完成し、T1F2の試作1号機（05-5801：元02-5801）のエンジンをブリストル製のものからJ3に換装。5月17日に初飛行に成功。 このエンジンはNJEから石川島播磨重工業による量産となり、T-1Aの10号機（05-5810）をJ3に換装してT1F1試作2号機とし、1962年まで試験が行われ、T-1Aに代わって量産体制に移行。 これの量産型がT-1Bと命名され、1962年9月に量産初号機が納入。1963年6月までに20機が配備されました。 またT-1Aのうち2機はT-1Bに改修されており、岐阜かかみがはら航空宇宙博物館の機体はそのうちの1機（もう1機は804号）。 なお、1962年からF-104の導入によって教育体制が変わり、278機が配備されたT-33Aが中等練習機に格下げされたため、T-1は計66機の導入に留まりました(そのうち現存26機)。 . 展示機は1960年11月30日に引渡、用途廃止は2006年5月11日。製造中にT-1AからT-1Bに改修された機体です。 岐阜基地の飛行開発実験団で様々な飛行実験に使用されていた特別仕様機で、操縦席の計器配置やフラップなどが通常のT-1と異なっているそうです。 用途廃止時の飛行開発実験団創設50周年記念塗装のまま展示されています。 また収蔵庫にはT-1の試作1号機である801号機が分解状態で保管されています。 【展示機スペック】 搭載エンジン：J3-IHI-3 ターボジェットエンジン 出力：1.4t 最高速度：マッハ0.8 #岐阜かかみがはら航空宇宙博物館 #かかみがはら航空宇宙博物館 #飛行機 #aircraft #航空博物館 #aviationmuseum #博物館 #museum #aircraftlovers #T1 #富士t1 #富士重工 #ジェット機 #jet

This is our Aeronca Model K. It was introduced in 1937 and quickly gained popularity, especially among flight schools, for its agility and ease of handling. The K offered some optional equipment: a cabin heater, carb heat box, wheel brakes, carpet, pontoons, skis, a steerable tail wheel, and prop spinner cap. Standard equipment included a fire bottle, two flight and three engine instruments, seat belts, a first aid kit, and log books. The K had no negative attributes except its stiff struts, which forced pilots to land well or take their own punishment. 📷 @PTDWarbirds
Throwback Thursday.. Did you know.. Edmonton City Centre Airport (ECCA), also called Blatchford Field as well as Edmonton Municipal Airport, was an airport within the city of Edmonton, in Alberta, Canada. The airport has a rich aviation history, with an aviation museum located in hanger 14 where the airport operated. Veteran family visit - Jeff and Lisa Casey visited the museum last Saturday. Lisa’s Father, Lt Robert Kirby was a lead navigator with the 418th Bomb Squadron flying 35 missions including 17 as lead navigator and 6 wing crew missions. He was just 21 years old when he was released from duty. Lisa and Jeff are shown at the location of hardstand 48 and on the main runway. We’re so excited for our Dambusters event tomorrow, featuring plane tours as well as lectures by Roddy MacKenzie, the renowned author of Bomber Command: Churchill’s Greatest Triumph. Happy Birthday Bereznyak-Isaev BI-1! #otd 82 years ago, on May 15, 1942, the third prototype of the BI took off from Koltsovo airport for its first rocket-powered flight, piloted by Grigorij Bachčivandži. The BI was designed by the two top engineers of Bolkhovitinov‘s OKB 293, Aleksander Bereznyak and Aleksei Isaev. It was a close-range interceptor characterized by a low-wing , fabric covered fuselage and wooden structure. The control surfaces were made of aluminum covered with fabric. The power unit was a D-1A Dushkin rocket engine located at the rear, powered by a mixture of kerosene and nitric acid contained in two separate steel tanks placed in the central part of the fuselage, the two liquids were sent to the combustion chamber with a compressed air system that limited the maximum thrust over time. It was decided to produce 50 pre-series aircraft, but the death of Capt.Bachčivandži during a speed acceleration test halted the production on March 27, 1943. Before the project was abandoned, one prototype demonstrated an exceptional climb rate, reaching 10000 meters altitude in just 59 seconds, with a maximum speed of 1000 km/h. The aircraft's endurance ranged from 8 to 15 minutes. The planned armament consisted of two 20 mm ShVAK cannons mounted on the nose. Among the aircraft displayed at the excellent Museo del Aire outside Madrid is this innocuous looking Mi-2 Hoplite. This was the first turbine powered Soviet helicopter, redundancy mandated a second engine which added to the bulk above the cabin. First flown in 1961, the Mi-2 was developed by the Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant, and produced exclusively by WSK “PZL-Świdnik” in Poland. PZL-Świdnik would produce a total of 5,497 helicopters (1965-1998), about a third for military customers. The Mi-2 is considered a workhorse, with uses in crop dusting, medevac, military ops & cargo. Frank Reinhardt was recognized as our April Volunteer of the Month. About two years ago, Kregg Kirby, our museum co-founder, asked our GM to survey current members to see who would be interested in active aircraft restoration, which has been dormant for the past three years due to losing our work area at the airport. Many talented members answered the call and Frank is the first person chosen from this group. Frank graduated from Newton -Conover High School. A lifelong love of military airplanes led him to Wayne Community College in Goldsboro, NC, one of the few schools offering aeronautical maintenance degrees. In 1983, he received his degree and soon after earned his A&P license from the FAA. He began his career in aviation working for CC-Air, a commuter airline for ten years, followed by eleven years at Mountain Air Cargo. He then spent the next ten years maintaining NASCAR racing team aircraft for Micheal Waltrip and Richard Childress. The past two years, he was employed by Carolina Aviation Tech as the training director. Frank's task for heading up the HAM restoration team will be huge, as almost all our aircraft will need to be repaired or prepped for painting in record time before they are taken inside of the new museum building, now under construction. A visit to the Yorkshire Air Museum and Allied Forces Memorial, the UK's largest independent aviation museum, is a fascinating insight into this part of Britain’s history. This is our AQM-37A Jayhawk. It was designed to simulate inbound Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) warhead packages for fleet shoot-down exercises. Other variants simulated sea-skimming anti-ship missiles or high-altitude attack missiles. Built as an expendable target, complete with a self-destruct package, most were not recovered. Common launch platforms for this drone were the F-4 Phantom, A-4 Skyhawk, and A-6 Intruder. The motor, a twin-chamber storable liquid-fueled rocket was, for a time, built by motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson. The liquid propellants, when mixed, ignite to create high-pressure and high-velocity hot gases that further accelerate as they exit the chamber. Can you guess who manufactured the Jayhawk?
