Three of these prop statues have been on the market so far, two selling last month. One sold back in 2018 for $4,800 and the same one (or very similar) sold in March 2024 for $10,625. I figured since I showed Emily the first film, "Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins" that it was about time I showed her the sequel! I really enjoyed both of these made-for-television "Scooby-Doo" movies. Sure they don’t have the budget or quality of the two live-action theatrical films but seeing as these movies were aimed for a younger crowd it’s hard not to enjoy them for what they are! I loved the lake-side town setting for this film and considering it takes place during the summer time the setting was perfect! “The Flintstones” (1994) Adapting a beloved cartoon series into a movie is nothing new for Hollywood. Neither is making that series into a live-action movie. Case in point (or stone, rather): Hanna-Barbera’s ever-popular animated sitcom about a “modern stone-age family.” With executive producer Steven Spielberg (credited here as “Spielrock”) and director Brian Levant (“Beethoven”) behind the scenes, this 1994 adaptation of “The Flintstones” predated the live-action “Grinch,” in terms of large-scale sets, creative costumes, and clever visual gags (including trademark prehistoric versions of modern-day appliances and businesses, like “RocDonald’s”) that truly evoked the feelings of a cartoon in flesh and bone. Sure, it may seem more like a Universal Studios attraction, and has dated CGI. But so what? Reportedly, John Goodman was the only actor highly considered for the role of Fred Flintstone, that the film would not have been made had he turned it down. Either way, the part fits Goodman like a glove, and it shows. (He did have some regrets about the role, even though he did it as a favor for Spielberg, having worked together on “Always” and “Arachnophobia”). The rest of the cast is clearly having a good time, including Rick Moranis (almost unrecognizable as Barney Rubble), TV legend Harvey Korman (as the voice of the office “Dicta-bird”), comedy legend Jonathan Winters (in a small role as a quarry employee), and even 90s favorite Rosie O’Donnell (as Betty). As far as live-action movies go, I consider myself one of the few that enjoys this one. To a degree. There are a few references that easily flew over our heads as kids, but now make me sigh. Namely, Fred’s office secretary (played by Halle Berry). There’s also Fred getting duped into a corporate embezzlement scheme, as well as his outdated, loudmouthed “Honeymooners”/pre-Archie Hunker personality. Since I recently showed Emily the two live-action theatrical Scooby-Doo movies; I figured I’d show her the two made-for-television films too. From 2009, “Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins”! When this movie originally was set to premiere on Cartoon Network my brother and I were really excited because it was an origin story explaining how Mystery Inc came together for the very first time! Being a made-for-television movie It’s budget and production design wasn’t nearly as big as the movies released in theaters, but they were still fine for what they were. The two of us really loved the cast who played the main characters a lot too! Heute Abend schaue ich mir das weihnachtliche Duell Terminator vs. Turbo-Man an: Versprochen ist versprochen. Dieser Film ist eine sehr tolle Weihnachtskomödie mit Arnold Schwarzenegger, die sehr lustig ist, verdammt viel Spaß macht, toll unterhält und uns Arnie mal wieder von seiner komödiantischen Seite zeigt. Und die Red Heat-Reunion ist einfach klasse. Wer braucht schon Spielzeug? . Howard hat beruflich immer viel um die Ohren und verpasst regelmäßig wichtige Ereignisse im Leben seines Sohnes. Um dies wiedergutzumachen, verspricht er ihm, ihm zu Weihnachten eine Turboman-Figur zu besorgen. Leider vergisst er die Figur wieder, und als seine Frau ihn am Heiligen Abend an sein Versprechen erinnert, ist es viel zu spät. Denn beinahe jedes Kind hat sich eine solche Figur gewünscht. Und so beginnt ein Wettlauf mit der Zeit, noch vor Ladenschluss ein letztes Exemplar zu ergattern. . #arnoldschwarzenegger war einer DER Actionstars der 80ervund 90ern und kam dann auf die Idee, auch ins Komödienfach umzusiedeln, wo #versprochenistversprochen der erste Versuch darstellt. Tatsächlich gelingt es ihm auch, trotz seiner begrenzten darstellerischen Fähigkeiten, recht gut sich in die Rolle einzufinden und kann sogar Grundlagen komödiantischen Timings erkennen lassen. Leider gibt ihm das Drehbuch dafür zu wenig Gelegenheiten. Die Story beginnt simpel und steigert sich dann immer weiter in zunehmend abstrusere Situationen, aus denen sie versucht Situationskomik zu ziehen, was leider aber nur bedingt gelingt. Auch auf der Dialogseite versagt der Film mit Witz, stattdessen gibt es nichtssagende Dialoge und ein vorhersehbares, wie leider auch dünnes Ende.
