This artistic textile display spoke joy to me especially in this cooler weather of late!
Here at the Barbican Centre overlooking the lake is the work of artist Ibrahim Mahama. Draped over the Barbican Centre are over 2000 sq. colossal panels sewn by the hands of craftspeople from Tamele. They too have hand embroidered more than 130 batakaris. They are African Fugu in local Ghanaian language, also known as Smocks.
This colossal piece is wonderfully titled Purple Hibiscus.
The installation is part of The Power and Politics of Textiles in Art here until May 26th
